Interesting.

seafishelle 2018-08-13 04:01

Really looking forward to playing this. I love treasure-hunting ocean games. Please @ me when you upload a link.

diwo 2018-08-13 11:50

seem cool waiting the link too

dimlight 2018-08-13 19:53

(@seafishelle) (@diwo) We finished! Have fun!枕头.png

chillen 2018-08-13 20:27

Wow! That was extremely fun but also really tough! I'm probably going to keep this one on hand and play it again after. Played a few rounds, but just couldn't get away from that monster. I'll have to keep tweaking my strategy. Sounds and graphics are also absolutely fantastic.

I normally hop into games and try to figure it out without looking at the help docs, but I'll say this one was a bit tough to do that with. There's so much content to it! Really impressive. Enough strategy to keep it going for a while.

One implementation critique, since I always try to leave a little critique! :p The hitbox around the compass seems to encroach on the map. Every time I traveled into the SW corner, it would open the help menu. Minor thing, but definitely made me want to avoid that corner!

Seriously fun, and I love how the theme bleeds into so many of the mechanics. Having your fuel source linked to the geometry of your ship was a really, really cool way to handle that resource and bring it back into the theme. Really great work!

o2o 2018-08-13 20:45

(@chillen)Thanks for your play and return.I'll repair it and add more plays in ends.:D

seafishelle 2018-08-14 02:19

Okay, I've played it. And I love it. This is a great little game. I love the concept of using the very structure of your vehicle as fuel, forcing you to build smart. Your pixel art is also top-notch. This game feels extremely complete.

ruimex 2018-08-14 02:25

@seafishelle Thank you so much for your played and comments!XD

jimbly 2018-08-14 03:42

Had a lot of difficulty trying to escape. First game, I just didn't understand the controls - perhaps your text above should read "press space to switch between moving and chopping the deck" - I kept pressing space, and nothing happened other than a slight animation that then stopped, tried holding space, nothing happened, finally, accidentally pressed space, then tried moving, and realized it was switching modes.

However, even after figuring that out, I still was unable to reliably escape... I managed to escape once, but consumed all but 2 of my deck pieces in doing it, and then was attacked again the next turn, and, well, that was the end of that ^_^.

Looks pretty nice, although some of the graphics (maybe just in the tutorial?) look to be scaled with filtering and look out of place compared to the rest of the great pixel art =). I ended up playing in a tiny window the first time because it looked blurry when maximized, but on closer inspection it seems the actual gameplay all looks great =).

beanslasher 2018-08-14 06:56

Wow! Just Wow, those graphics are really pleasing! It is quite a tough game, I think you all did a really great job!

wxzuir 2018-08-14 07:07

The game mechanics is really cool. But I failed to find a way to escape from the monster > <

dimlight 2018-08-14 07:20

(@wxzuir)(@jimbly)Actually the cannon is a very useful tool, which will make the battle much easier if you use effectly! Besides, the armored deck can repair the broken deck, which is also very useful.大炮1攻击.png

seablu 2018-08-14 07:46

This was very challenging and fun I want to keep playing to get to the end but need to get some sleep! though unrelated, I had a nice bit of nostalgia when I saw the old game maker loading bar because I used to always play yoyo games sandbox games and it was the program I first learned to program in. Overall this game seems nicely polished and fits the theme really well. I'm not sure how the core mechanic of burning the boat to make it move works but thanks for the great game and little piece of nostalgia  Will play again

stellaryyan2 2018-08-14 07:54

WOW! Great game! Finally, I spent a hour to get through itSnipaste_2018-08-14_15-51-36.png

cristihkj 2018-08-14 07:58

Pretty fun! :p

eggshelldog 2018-08-14 08:36

this is a solid gameplay. The art and the music really bring me into the game. And after a long fight, the ending picture really heal my heart, it is so fxxking cute!

bredera 2018-08-14 08:42

Cool game, but it takes some time to get used to the controls!

lx07213 2018-08-14 12:03

I think the music is wonderful and it is very challenging game,i like it :D

loic-nageleisen 2018-08-14 13:13

This looks interesting... Any chance of a macOS or web build?

dimlight 2018-08-14 13:27

The MacOS version is now uploading, but there's some problem with the Internet connection, and I'll mention you after it's uploaded… Coming soon!

sublustris 2018-08-14 13:28

visuals looks a bit ripple, but anyway very nice game!

diwo 2018-08-14 13:39

Very cool

scott-steffes 2018-08-14 13:39

This is really impressive! I think it's quite fun once you get into it. With some polish on easing the player into the tactics and game play I think this could be an even better experience. Much respect to the team that made this.

pierkwadrat 2018-08-14 13:58

Nice game u got there. A bit hard to learn at the beggining but the help menu helps a lot.

zoltancoccyx 2018-08-14 14:10

This is so good ! I had a bit of trouble understanding how to flee so it took me some time to have the occasion to appreciate the "rotten plank" mecanic which is brilliant ! The game is also gorgeous, and the finest one I have played so far :)

josscomposer 2018-08-14 14:16

I Effing LOVED IT <3 Amazing graphics that throw me right back in the old days of SNES games (I mean prettyyy ones). Mood was amazing with the different views... I had a hard time understanding the mechanics though and it takes time to understand the use of all the items you can build. The theme is respected but could be a little more present in the gameplay, tough the idea is good !! (removing space to move was the thing that I found really good) Sound and music are reaally good too :-) And the overall "story telling", like how you make the monster appear and the scening... Great ! Big GG ! Check our game shblow ;-)

corbak 2018-08-14 14:32

Amazing pixelart! Simple but very cute. The mechanics of the game are complexe but interesting. Cool idea to burn the planks you stand on to move the raft!

dimlight 2018-08-14 16:04

(@loic-nageleisen) The MacOS build is uploaded, I hope you can enjoy it!

crazym 2018-08-14 17:56

I really like this, nice job! So far I've managed to get two of the three treasures before the monster. Is there anything you can do to fight back or escape once you've been pulled in by the monster?

o2o 2018-08-14 18:03

(@crazym) ↑↓←→ to move, space+(↑↓←→) to cut down the deck. To throw the wood into the smelter.Repeat do this

devwithmartinus 2018-08-14 18:24

Really hard to play, but it is a nice game ^^

rainysolar 2018-08-15 03:19

Very interesting gameplay with great audio and graphics. This one has a potential to be a pixel art style RAFT-like game. XD

shane 2018-08-15 04:26

this is freaking great. I love this. The idea of it all, this could make a great mobile game too. Reminds of all good things like my childhood playing intellivision games for some reason. Great job. (

lexyvil 2018-08-15 05:16

Definitely one that was worth trying! I had trouble figuring how to move my raft around. It only took a few minutes to realize I had to use the wood already build onto the raft. I finished the game on my fourth round~ The graphics, gameplay and the music are the highlight for me.

awix 2018-08-15 07:56

A good game idea, the music should be improved. The graphics are good. Try our game too, maybe you'll like it)

pranjalbisht 2018-08-15 08:45

Great work! I always got caught by the monster trying to get it into my cannon's range, haha. The raft space idea was really creative and goes with the theme very nicely! And awesome work on the graphics, especially the Cthulhu style monster! The font not being a pixel one bugged me though.

rayriver 2018-08-15 11:01

Really solid game. After I know how to play it, I feel very interesting. But my WASD keys don't work, so I have to use arrow keys which I'm not used to.

o2o 2018-08-15 12:15

(@rayriver) We realize that later(why not WASD&E control?) We will upload better control version!(and more things) Thanks for your Feedback!

bismark 2018-08-15 12:26

Very nice game ; the whole participates in a good mood.

hare-software 2018-08-15 15:22

Seeing the GameMaker 8 loading bar at the beginning already made me love it, but the game itself make it even better. You added a lot of content in such a small time and it's worth it, well done!

devio 2018-08-15 17:30

The audio, Was calming and subtle in the background, unfortunately, didn't cover up the hate and fear of cuthulu :) The audio didn't get in the way of the gameplay. For a game that was created for the jam in such a short time, It is well made with little no bugs. I didn't at first read the instructions and it made it difficult to figure out what I was doing. After coming to terms with what I was doing gameplay was well done. My ONLY issue, it that cuthulu should spawn on the other side of the map to where the first chest is located.

diablo 2018-08-15 17:57

AMAAAAAAZING! Definitely one of my favourites. Had fun building interesting looking rafts, even if I didn't really utilize its space. The game has production level polish, the art was amazing, and I personally enjoyed the music/sound. One particular design decision I loved was how you layed out the interface with the two views. I can't express enough how appealing it is to watch that side-view window even if it doesn't facilitate the game's mechanics. I couldn't stop thinking of how it could be expanded, such as having events (avoiding sharks, or surviving a thunderstorm), fishing, diving, maybe even dialogue... As for the traveling mechanics, they were really fun, but the insane speed of the monster made it difficult for me to really enjoy exploration. Furthermore, there wasn't really much to explore, but with the amount of content the game has already, that's understandable :P. I'm sure you guys have a bunch of ideas for things to be explored if you do intend on taking it further so I won't bore you with my ideas ;), great game!

nnnikki 2018-08-15 18:47

Wow. Just wow. What a game. I would never think that such a game could be made for a game jam. I was really amazed. Congrats!

kjetil 2018-08-15 19:11

I also had some problems understanding the controls, and generally what what going on in the beginning But overall really impressive

dimlight 2018-08-15 19:16

(@kjetil)We don't have time to make better tutorials, game systems and balance takes too much time. But we'll do it better in the future, thanks for the feedback.

o2o 2018-08-15 19:45

(@devio)oh!nice idea!I set the monster spawn when u get a first chest. It will upload in end of LD42

o2o 2018-08-15 19:53

(@hare-software) but GM8 can't make MAC&website:( although I have already buy GMS2(but only Windows too;(),I not used to it. You can love it that I'm happy;D

2018-08-15 20:54

The controls were really difficult to figure out and even when I did figure out the controls they felt clunky, would have been nice to have a tutorial (or even a "How to Play/Controls" screen)

zicboy 2018-08-16 00:22

Really worth the play and i throughly enjoyed it! Great graphics too:)

dimlight 2018-08-16 04:43

To Anonymous: We're going to make tutorials and upload the better control version after LD42, and the game itself will also be proved a lot. Thanks for your playing!

sgtweirdo 2018-08-16 09:07

Really cool game! The theme was very well put together as a whole, sound, art and gameplay all blended in nicely to create a great setting! Good job!

renegadepunisher 2018-08-16 09:41

Great concept. I love the way you split the play area up into 2 separate sections. I found it really difficult to figure how to play initially. I had no idea that i had to click on wood already laid, and then click on the second screen *with the boat) to actually move. Once i got the hang of it it was really good though. Maybe just a little more explanation in the help screen would help. Overall a very good game. Sound was great, screen transitions smooth. Great job.

pamoy 2018-08-16 10:18

Cool game Tutorials are welcoming the start is a bit hard but it's fun and when you understand how too play its really fun to navigate =)

scott-purcival 2018-08-16 10:32

This game has been really well done. Super levels of polish on all gameplay elements. Couldnt win it myself, but still really enjoyed the experience. Thanks!

digital-bacon 2018-08-16 13:09

Interesting game. Loved the pixel art graphics and the mechanics of having to sacrifice your raft to move, although it did get a bit much having to move between the two sides of the screen constantly to make progress, especially once the monster showed up. Really liked the Cthulu-like monster, and the way the clouds rolled in during the big fight.

o2o 2018-08-16 13:33

I decide to redo Battle mechanism.I think no one like now :d

kokonaught 2018-08-16 19:50

Nice game, it took me a while (I mean, a whiiiiiiile, it needs a real tutorial, the Help button doesn't help that much) to understand how to play, but once I got it, I liked your take on the them a lot. I still don't understand the battle against the monster (I think you should keep all your game played with the mouse, it's very awkward to switch to the arrow keys and space bar. A lot of the features need to be refined but it's a very ambitious game, so congrats on implementing so much!

Good job! Please tell here me if you make a postjam version. :)

dimlight 2018-08-17 11:00

(@kokonaught) We are making a better control version now and will upload it after LD, thanks for playing!

andreb 2018-08-17 12:03

Quite a cool concept, reminds me of FTL. It would be cool for a future iteration if you could think on just setting where your Commander goes, instead of actually controlling it, you just select the commander place it on a cannon or on repair duty and he keeps doing those tasks until you tell him not to.

samueldeboni 2018-08-17 12:33

this is a very creative game, I'm sure the this can be inproved and maybe became a finished product

shapkofil 2018-08-17 12:52

a little confusing at first and later its still confusing but fun

amour-du-pain 2018-08-17 14:11

Yes, finally some fine lovecraftian game ! Well done !

ginger9 2018-08-18 08:40

I thought it's a little hard to understand that you can only use wooden platform as fuel but wood itself. But except that, this is amazing.

peachtreeoath 2018-08-19 16:16

Super creative game that gave me a new experience. I played it at least an hour but never could beat it. I tried a lot of different strategies and items but only came close once. I like the decision making you force on the player as there's a lot of sacrifices you have to make. In fact I'd say the entire game revolves around careful sacrifices lol. The only frustrating thing for me was not being able to choose the path I took in the water, so running away from the Cthulu could really hard sometimes since I'd just run into rocks or a tentacle during the autopath. I love this concept and the dual screen usage though, I'm extremely impressed with what you made in a weekend.

dimlight 2018-08-20 05:32

(@peachtreeoath)In this version, we used a crafty method, that is, the ship will move left and right before moving up and down, which would cause a lot of trouble, and we'll fix this in the later version after jam, thanks for the feedback.

2018-09-05 01:46

I Like the game/
