hola caracola
Very interesting and pretty hard too!
Hello, don't eat me  I like the online scoreboard. What engine did you use? It would be nice, if one can decrease the music volume.
More angles to the controls would be nice, right now it feels bit rough with the drastic angles direction change. Otherwise cool game, well executed.
My submission is a snake clone but this is far more fun!
The collision detection seems to be a little overzealous sometimes and I die but it doesn't look like I've touched the wall.
@nenas we used https://godotengine.org/
Thanks everybody for the ratings. It's hard cause we wanted something hardcore, but in the end we didn't have much time to balance the difficulty. It is our first Ludum and we thought it was going to be easier. I'll take a look at your games after work, I am really interested on what people did.
Thanks everybody!
Woah its pretty near impossible to control anything. The leaderboard is nice(although there was a bug where my name was switched with the top one even if it wasn't my score). The voices add to the ambiance, although I had difficulty to understand it was coming from the insects, and when there's two insects there's two overlay voices.
I'll have to be honest with you: I'm not so sure about this game.
Maybe it's just my internet but it's pretty slow and choppy which doesn't work with the controls well as it uses constant velocity. The sound compression isn't very good either. I know that the dark light around it is supposed to obscure the player's vision and thus put difficulty but this kinda adds up. The only saving grace with this game is that it's very quick to replay which is also pretty sad because it's clearly meant to be an arcade game that you play over and over again.
It's a good attempt, it's just the technicalities kinda add up and tell you what: if you export a stable EXE offline build and upload it, I'm willing to review this game again. Cheers!
They are supposed to be robots haha. Yeah I know, we´ve been using Godot for a week to prepare for the Ludum, so still don´t know how to properly use the program. I added the voices at the end and didn´t find how to change the volumen and I was exhausted.
About the leaderboard, it has bugs cause @kidandcat did it at the end of the Ludum so we didn't tested it much.
And yep, is quite hard to control, we should have focused more on that.
Thanks for your comment @maximelore !
@hanin Hey thanks for your review, we know there are a lot of thinks to improve, it was our first time making a game and had to fight with a lot of things we didn't knew.
The game is hosted on a web server, but everything is loaded at the beginning and the only thing happening online is the scoreboard, so your problems shouldn't be caused for networking :(
@hanin, we will upload a windows and linux version later. Sorry for the inconvenience!
@rido Well for a first Ludum, you've definitely got something going on here! If there's one thing a lot of gamedevs fail at, it's scope and you learned that your scope was not the right size. You learn something new everyday no?
@hanin indeed, that I have 4 months to improve and that I have to try to achieve something even easier. And to take a day for holiday from work, so I can spend the whole Monday next time! :D
@rido: Hey no problem, making games is hard work! Congrats for your first ludum :)
This controls are putting me in rage! I would like to see a way to restart a game without touching a mouse.
All the other stuff are nice and managable (yes, somehow I glitch-muted music without muting sfx =) ). Online leaderboard is a good thing to have yet it's uncommon for a jam game. Nice work!
Yeah, I agree with you about the mouse @yngvarr but we found that in HTML5 version you need to click the canvas or we cannot capture input even from keyboard, so that was a last minute trick.
Nice mood you got there. And scary ambiance too. Nicely done. It was a bit too sharp to turn and the collision were really punitive, but it was fun.
@corbak yep the collisions were totally wrong in some tiles, a lack of time and a lackadaisical programmer, my fault. Thanks for playing our game!
controlling the worm was a bit difficult due to weird collision and rotation speed for me. i had some bugs in audio too where voice are echoed and music stop but that wasn't very distracting. The game was too hard for me and it is a bit difficult to juge game or level design. the art was cool. Maybe a game a bit less challenging next time for people with poor skills like me :p
Great entry, it got a little laggy on my computer. During the lag I sometimes lost control and encountered audio glitches. I'm running your game on chrome.
Really Fun Game, The Controls took a bit to learn cause I constantly kept running into the wall other than that its a great game, Nice Job!
Thanks both @dray @king-kujito for playing our game and leaving feedback. I am glad to hear someone talking about the graphics. We had a really nice artist @imnotlaffng in our team and we are really happy with his work.
We agree the controls were hard and the game unnecessary hard. And yep, the HTML5 version is sometimes a bit laggy. We will work on that for the next Ludum Dare. Feedback appreciated!
Regards
The cornering is tough! And those voices are terrifying.
It was hard, but there's definitely potential.
Definitely enjoyed the mood of this game. If you changed the game to use a controller you could map the movement of the worm to the L-stick direction. That might make it a lot easier to control.
@scott-steffes yep, we wanted to change a lot of things but we didn't want to change anything after publishing it. It would be great with a joystick and as @tomg said fixing the corners (the collisions of some walls are not well defined)
Thank you both for the feedback!
