Nice. I really like the art. I like how sneaky the little spikes on the ground are. I also enjoyed climbing blocks with the scepter.

@hubol Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

This was cute, the result of the jump height purchase surprised me.

flashviper 2019-05-03 02:54

Unity can be a pain sometimes. But you made it through alive, and that's what counts!

yellowzombie 2019-05-04 01:07

@sylvie Actually, that's a bug that my partner kept saying existed, but I couldn't find at the time. My code was working properly, but my partner had changed the base jump height during the level design process and I had just passed it by as if it wouldn't change anything... So I was running off of our original jump height in the upgrade math thus making the jump smaller. My bad, but thanks for playing it! (the upgrade is fixed in the latest build, which will be published shortly)

@flashviper Yeah, it can... Never figured out exactly why it was acting up, however, I figured out that somewhere along the line a RigidBody2D on a specific sprite was causing the hangs, we were forced to remove our plans for said sprite else we wouldn't have even been able to finish what we did. I'm really glad the game was able to come out as a somewhat finished product though! Thank you for taking the time to play the game <3

nice work, I made billy jump to his death several times! good times

maggardjosh 2019-05-04 03:08

Cool entry, one thing I noticed was that you keep your powerups after dying. I also found that I could just get to the first shop by dropping off one of the early platforms, so I just kept getting my upgrade and dying to get it again and ended up with a ridiculous jump

Good job getting your game done, had fun playing it!

squirrei 2019-05-04 03:30

@maggardjosh We tried to find some way to prevent that from happening, but with the problems we were having, it slipped our mind. Glad you enjoyed the game though!

blondhie 2019-05-04 23:41

I did a few play throughs, and I got stuck on the edge of one of the platforms and had to restart. The graphics were awesome!

squirrei 2019-05-05 00:17

@blondhie Thank you! It was my first time ever using Krita, so I wasn't sure how well they would turn out, but I'm glad to know that someone other than me and YellowZombie think they look nice, as we are slightly partial.

I won! Yay! I will admit I said something I could not say in front of my mother when I ran over those tiny, nearly invisible spikes halfway to the end.

dock-frankenstein 2019-05-11 11:32

Those, FUnctional spikes!!!!!

tamail 2019-05-11 18:51

The game was randomly kicking me back to the beginning - without me stepping on spikes, being killed, spending all my life on attacks... Very annoying. I loved the art though! I also like how sneaky you were with those spikes. I don't know if it was intentional or not but they were sometimes hard to notice :D

yellowzombie 2019-05-11 19:36

@cheesepencil Grats, lol!

@franciszek-pyrc You can blame SquirreI for those :stuck_out_tongue:

@tamail Odd, I've never heard of a bug like that before. Since you said it was random, it was just doing it anywhere at any time? Or was it doing it around the same area, but with no apparent cause. Sorry that it made the gameplay worse. I'm glad that you enjoyed the art and the spikes though!

snowdozer 2019-05-11 21:47

the level design was very confusing! i would fall down, making accidental progress, and then start going backwards right afterwards. (although i did kind of enjoy the sense of being lost, it was like a mini-metroidvania). a few signs or pointers would have been helpful, and maybe you could have kept the level design in one direction! but i can't say the game wasn't enjoyable. i loved the health management aspects, and the graphics were very cute! the death animation was a neat touch, too. an overall solid entry, hope to see you in the next jam!

squirrei 2019-05-12 00:32

@snowdozer Glad you enjoyed the game. It was my first time ever doing level design, and because of the issues we were having, I ended up only having 45 minutes to not only figure out how to design a level, but also make sure it was possible, but not super easy. I'll keep your suggestions in mind for next time. Thanks for the feedback!
