Really fun game! Took me a bit to understand whats the goal, but once you understand it its great. My highest score was 5600$

Interesting take on the theme. Graphics are ok, the suit together, but it's not my type of art style.

Crashing the cars is quite fun, but I'm missing some more physics for that.

Interesting game. I think it's strange that you have to wait for a timer to finish, when you collide with something as it takes the momentum out of the game.

I also have no idea how the amount you get from your insurance is supposed to work. I once rammed 2 cars which were behind each other and almost received a nagative value if I didn't hit a tree from the knockback.

adrian0901 2019-04-30 17:10

@jeremia the amount depends on: - your car's speed - other car's speed (if colliding with a car) - whether the other car takes damage after hitting you - whether hitting a car or a different object (hitting cars also subtracts from the insurance in addition to adding to it) - taken damage by the objects (basically a random number from 1 to 100 * average speed of the colliding objects)

Great game overall! Humor 9000

attala 2019-04-30 19:01

Bonus points for original game idea :) Quite fun to play.

adrian0901 2019-04-30 19:03

@elmos-minion @attala fun fact, I wasn't attempting to be funny  i just tried to invent the most crazy game idea possible

I edited this comment after answers from adrian0901 First try I got stuck in the tunnel and the game was stuck, but after rerunning, the game worked. I think it is a great take on the theme and I like the graphics. I'm still trying to work out the complex math, though.

adrian0901 2019-04-30 19:21

@goerp As far as I know, tiny bug-fixes are allowed. I precisely said what was changed from the jam build - realigning the benches and fixing HP still regenerating after crash timer goes zero.

"Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players."

The application was probably DirectPlay, and it's not included in Windows 8 and higher. It's only needed if a legacy Game Maker 8.1 game uses network support, which this does not, so it launched.

And no, you can't enter the tunnels.

Also, I supplied two earlier betas you can try.

I had a good laugh playing this game. I died more often than not, but it was fun to cause chaos! Muahahahaha.

joemanaco 2019-04-30 21:29

ROFL. Very creative approach on the theme and good execution as well.

sheepolution 2019-04-30 21:36

Fun little game! I like how you can cause a big crash with the other cars. Funny to see things unfold. Good job!

gear-steak 2019-04-30 22:56

Really solid entry, would have been fun if there were more things to interact with or destroy like driving over trees, fences, maybe some things to explode etc. I hope you continue with this idea post jam

goerp 2019-05-01 06:22

@adrian0901 ah, I see now. Sorry! I will try the game again (I didnt want to rate it before i could really play it). It's been a while since I last did a Ludum Dare and some things are a little different I see.

oakwarrior 2019-05-01 08:22

Cool game :D Would have liked the car to go faster though :D

gamepopper 2019-05-01 08:31

This is like that one mode in the old Burnout games but with sharper pixel art textures, vibrant colours and chiptune. Would have liked it if the cars had better physics, especially if cars and obstacles would still move after contact to cause more damage instead of remaining stationary.

Nice simple game with an immediately appealing concept. :)

I like the retro aesthetic, from the art to the music, everything works together really well!

I wish I had a better sense of how to maximize my insurance claim, but the simple act of crashing cars for money was fun enough on it's own.

Well done, especially for a solo project!
