Wow, that was just great! The size of the city, and your attention to details amazes me. Sound of the rain creates great ambience, that contrasts nicely with different indoors music.
Grate game! Wish the Esc would just pause the game and not close it completely :cry:

@annie-owl Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like the city because it took so long to put together that I had to throw out a bunch of features.
This is such a cool game. It's palette, animation style and overall zany mood reminded me of crazy times we had with friends in Superfighters Deluxe. I played it with a couple of friends and we had a blast laughing at cops shooting civillians, headhunters getting ran over by speeding cars while trying to catch us. Disappearing cash also played a part as one of us tried to rob a bank, panicked and missed it all - just like in reallife bank robbery!
I really like it, play at least 5 times, did not manage to win because it's really hard.

I was flashed by the game. It is really cool and reminds me a little bit to Retrocity Rampage. Really Good gameplay, Really polished nice game and some guns - what could go wrong ? ;) Love it - please keep it on and make a full game out of it. I would love to see more of these games.
This is beautifully made, very impressive for one person! The graphics are gorgeous and you really managed to paint a mood with such a limited color scheme. I'm impressed, the world feels real and this is one of my favorites.
This is fantastic. It really is crushingly difficult, but I love the art style. It was brilliant fun just exploring and knocking over the cash machines, and the seamless building entering was really slick and satisfying. One of my absolute favourites so far! :smile:

@neowhoru Thankyou so much! I've never played retro city rampage but I've always loved how it looks, so I think there's definitely some graphical inspiration there. I'd love to expand this into a full game if enough people are into it.

@octopoid Thank you! It's a shame about the difficulty, I don't think anyones managed to beat it yet. :S I'm glad you enjoyed it anyhow. I made entering buildings like that to make things simpler to put together, so I'm glad it came across as cool as well. :)
WoW! For me, as a programmer who Loves pixel art (Talent that I don't have) this game is just beautiful, I really enjoyed the game. Great Job done here :)
this is so good! it's so good! the music, when used, fits perfectly with the environment. the environment is amazing, populated with all these people. the sprite work is incredible, on the people and the city. you have this entire map created and all these different places. this is incredible for a jam game! this might be my favorite game of the whole competition! amazing work!

@franboost4 Thanks! YOu don't reload, you have to visit a gunshop to buy more ammo. Theres 2 gunshops in the city, one of them is just to the left of where you start. You can upgrade your gun and its ammo capacity there too. :)
@mr-field oh ok but when im out of ammo is that it? or im missing something because it doesnt reload outomaticly if its not a thing in the game im ok whit that (sorry if you didnt understand english is my 2 leanguaje)

I really loved this one! The gameplay and art especially were amazing. However, I think that the ammo should drop when you kill enemies as it can become impossible to find it when it takes a while to find a shop.
@c0d3d Thanks a lot! Funnily enough, just before reading this, I had implemented cops/hunters/gunsalesmen dropping ammo in the post-jam fix im working on. ;)
This was really fun, really well done and felt so polished for a Ludum Dare entry. Used to love the first GTA so was nice to play an entry that reminded me of it. The art was great and worked so well and this is one that I'll definitely come back to and play again.
I really liked the game, but yeah it is a bit hard. The main difficulty is in finding things. I kept on dying, untill I figured out where you buy health. There were also multiple gun shops, which was good design. However I couldn't find the bank or otherways to make a lot of money. The cash machines give some money, but not a lot. I don't know if they have a cool down or that you can only rob them once, but that would otherwise be a good change as well. The humor was great though; with people getting run over by cars, civilians getting shot and bounty hunters shooting each other.
@mika-la-grand Thanks a lot! I was wanting to add a map but I didn't have time, so I think getting around the city is a little overwhealming the first time around.
There are 2 banks, one at the top of the map, one around the middle (there's the full map in the images on the itch page if you were curious where) You can also rob all the regular shops too.
The cash machines do get their money back over time, so long as they don't get blown up. I'm glad my terrible terrible AI made it fun for you though. ;)

This is AMAZINGļ¼I loved every bit of it.If I have to name one thing I don't love is that the character moving speed feels a little slow for the size of the map.I can't believe you made it on your own.You are a god.

Btw, I really liked the music. Do you plan on posting it on bandcamp, soundcloud or something? And the use of the silence in between the musics in the buildings was - even if it was because you hadn't the time to create a track for that - super clever: silence is something that we must do something with, it actually tells sometimes more than an actual track. Great job there :)
@pl4typus Thanks a lot! I was wanting to have some music to fade in for combat, but I didn't have time to make it. I haven't thought about releasing the music since they're all very short loops, but I'll definitely put them up for download on the itch page now, thanks! ;)
@mr-field Yeah, that healing music is super super super joyful and neat :) Really gives a rest, for the character and for us.
@mr-field By the way, have you ever finished your game (I mean, win it)? Cause even though I try to play it as safe as I can, there are moments when the map almost fills itself with those riffle black guys and it's like suuuuper hard to stay alive. It's kind of frustrating.
@pl4typus I didn't manage to get around to it before uploading because I was rushing pretty hard and it ended up pretty unbalanced as a result. :S
I have beaten it since though. Tbh the best strat seems to be just buy health, rob the two banks in the city and bullet sponge your way back to heal up.
I've got the first post jam update done, which should hopefully balance it a lot better, that I'll be publishing soon. Hope you manage to get through it.
Btw, killing less bounty hunters usually helps out a good bit, since it increases your bounty and thus the machine gun guys start to show up.
