Awesome game!

I found the font a bit hard to read and i had a bit of trouble differentiating between the player and the background but otherwise this game is great!

alien 2018-08-14 05:54

@ceasar Most of the Graphics were supposed to be temporary and It was supposed to look a bit different but sadly I didn't get enough time make more art or sound. Thanks for playing, Don't forget to Rate the game

beanslasher 2018-08-14 06:28

I liked the game, the graphics can be improved after the game jam ratings, and you can polish the game. However currently I think that you have a nice prototype, and ultimately I can see this game being fun, maybe even a mobile game :) Good Job!

alien 2018-08-14 06:29

@beanslasher Thanks a lot!, I actually didn't expect people to like it considering lack of sound and Improvised Pixel art.

beanslasher 2018-08-14 06:30

I mean it's not going to be 100%, you would be surprised. I have seen stick figures and basic controls haha, in the end it is all about the game :p

green-rail 2018-08-14 06:46

Liked the visuals, shooting feels satisfying.

alien 2018-08-14 06:51

@green-rail Thank You!

triplefox 2018-08-14 07:25

Clicked this cause my avatar is from "Killing Bites".

I think this one turned out very well! I've been planning to use Godot for projects, but haven't found the time to really sit down and jam with it for a while. It's nice to see folks working with it.

There isn't too much strategy to this game, but the shooting is still challenging since it's balanced to be very difficult. It would be good to see a version that fleshes it out with more enemy patterns and distinct waves.

alien 2018-08-14 07:33

@triplefox Thank you! You might not believe this but I didn't choose a name for this game till the very end. It was around like the last 4 hours where i decided to give a name and I was browsing through ludum dare website not sure where but i saw your profile pic and i was like "Isn't that Killing Bites" Since i didn't have much time left, I just went to Killer Bytes. Also I started using godot because i my Hard Drive broke. Godot is really good engine, I am actually planning to switch from Unity to Godot.

@alien I will never know the full extent of my influence, I guess 🌎🌍🌏

el-metallico 2018-08-14 08:24

Hey, very nice game, pretty good for one man team!

alien 2018-08-14 08:34

@el-metallico Thanks a lot!

hare-software 2018-08-14 08:49

Nice graphics and easy to understand game. Sadly, I did not manage to defend my memory for long ;)

alien 2018-08-14 08:51

@hare-software Thank you for playing!

cercle 2018-08-15 01:04

Loved the visuals, the concept was great and the jump mechanics were really great. I would have loved to see the jump be used more in the gameplay. Maybe if you jump on a virus you stun it for a while? Well done! Please do more Ludum Dares!

alien 2018-08-15 05:44

@cercle Thank you so much! Thats really good idea, I might implement it post-LD.

naro 2018-08-15 07:03

I'm glad you did't quit on this game. It's a nice concept. I liked it.

alien 2018-08-15 08:34

@naro Thank You!

timbals 2018-08-15 12:04

Nice job. The game is still pretty barebones right now but it's very good for the first time you are using the engine.

alien 2018-08-15 12:11

@timbals Thank you! The game was originally supposed to have a lot of features like, When an App is spwn there will be a triangle showing you to go pick it up and stuff but I encountered a lot of bugs when developing the game and i ended up spending more time fixing them than developing the game.

hagrida 2018-08-15 12:17

Great game! Totally worths playing

alien 2018-08-15 12:25

@hagrida Thank you for your feedback!

notbadgun 2018-08-15 12:45

Very good for one man 8)

alien 2018-08-15 13:02

@notbadgun Thank you!

gord10ahmet 2018-08-15 13:04

Nice game for the first entry.

alien 2018-08-15 13:16

@gord10ahmet Thank You! This is actually my second entry but this was my first time with Godot Engine and This is the first game made in Godot.

eclahn 2018-08-15 21:18

The game lacks a lot of polish. You can't realistically protect the apps because you have no idea when they pop up and leaving the chip for too long will result in viruses reaching it. Since the apps getting corrupted inflicts damage to the chip you simply cannot last long at all. I kept losing memory at random (from apps getting corrupted I assume). The graphics are neat though! Now the problems come from somewhere obvious: one person alone working with a new engine and knowing this you did pretty good. Kudos to you for keeping on going despite the circumstances! You can only get better at this ;)

alien 2018-08-16 05:27

@eclahn Thanks a lot!,There were supposed to be few features that were supposed to indicate when they spawn and Showing you to go pick them but time was not on my side.I did learn a lot about Godot During this time so by LD43 I should be doing far better than this time. Again Thank you for playing!

ursagames 2018-08-17 10:10

Thanks for sharing your game on my stream! Well done for your first Godot game! Doing game jams with unfamiliar tools is always a daunting task.

alien 2018-08-17 10:26

@ursagames Thanks you for playing my game on your stream!

afendar 2018-08-19 15:56

I did not really understand why I had lost because the viruses were destroyed but the memory went down ... Is there any problem?

alien 2018-08-20 07:32

@afendar Randomly, Some Apps gets spawn and You have to go and pick them up. IF you don't they will end up getting corrupted and Taking space. I I didn't get the time to add in a indicator to tell the player when and where the enemy spawned. Thanks a lot for playing my game!

rahim-pxr 2018-08-27 01:05

Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42

alien 2018-08-27 16:34

@rahim-pxr Thank you!, Sure thing
