The music really puts you in the zone for this one (つ▀¯▀)つ
I did manage to glitch outside the boundaries a few times but apart from that a solidly put together game!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD42 → Color Space

Really clever design that fits the theme really well. Game is really fun! I kinda wish it just auto fired (playing on laptop in browser) which would make it more important to manage where you aim. I could see this turning into a full game. Nice work!
@kierkle do you mean auto firing by holding down the button or something different? If so then I had an idea to add that but forgot to add it in as we were working on other features. Ill add that when I upload it to gamejolt which I may do in the next few days but I will probably wait a week so I can finish some features off on other projects.
@team-trout I found that after when we were testing that it was because how the AI almost forces its way into you but trapping yourself and getting out was part of the reason we added the energy bar, well that and to keep the player in the action more.
I have a lot of plans for the game for if I continue which includes new features, enemies as well as I had some ideas for bosses. We were thinking of doing it as a wave system but due to my unfamiliarity with unity I was a lot slower than I had wanted to be on some of the features :(
Super creative! I really like the ways that different/same colors interact with each other; makes for an interesting mechanic. I couldn't tell how much room there was for strategy, though; I tried lining up my shots for multiple enemies of the same type, but I couldn't tell how much I could do about the encroaching boundaries. Very well executed game!
love the idea! :)
Hey! I'm from elysias stream. Got to about 700 points. Is that good? My eyes started hurting after a while. It's pretty bright but still fun. A good proof of concept!
Would love if you gave my game a try too :)
The music goes amazingly with the gameplay, Very nice concept, it really puts a lot more thought into the classic top-down shooter genre. You can add powerups, like slomo or something along the lines of that to keep the game interesting. I'll play this game next time I want to improve my aim.
@hexiez123 we didn't have enough time but if people like it I will be adding power ups, change the enemies to sort of waves (just tweaking their spawning rate and settings as the game goes), add more variations of enemies and sometimes bosses or just more powerful enemies spawning.
@sekwah41 Good to hear, I would love to see that.
Clever idea! The interaction with different colors is well done and the game was fun to play. It would have been nice to see the whole playing field so I could see where I was aiming.
@team-trout @hexiez123 Glad you guys enjoyed the music ! It was the last day of the development, and me and Sekwah were making last additions to the gameplay, and I just had a surge of disco-vibe inspiration :joy:.
Cool music, gameplay is fun and simple as the grapics. Really enjoyed it
@matt-tuttle surprisingly the camera was even more zoomed in to start xD Looks like I didnt move it far enough out :P
I really like the idea of this kind of puzzle element in a shooter. I thought it was a little hard to actually plan your shots, though, since the edges aren't always on screen and so many blocks tend to bunch up together. I think it could be an awesome game if some of those issues could be balanced out.
Pretty clever idea! Would have worked better with bigger blocks and a smaller map, but that's minor. Good job!
@mrjorts the thoughts I had were details such as increasing the block sizes like @kbjwes77 suggested because that would make it easier to aim as well as moving the camera further out.
One idea I wanted to show off but of course we didn't have the time was possible bosses which add to the puzzle idea. Such as having to absorb an enemy to get through a shield which is colors in different places and other special enemies that show up. There were a lot of ideas and I was quite into the idea I had behind this game once I had thought of it. Maybe to get better for a future gamejam I will continue the game for practice
There are some neat mechanics here! Had a fun time playing this. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:25 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
