Great little 3D platformer! Smooth gameplay all the way to the end, although figuring out how to complete the last level was a little tough. The momentum mechanics feel great and I could see speedrunners finding all sorts of ways to speed through.

A very good platformer. Got till the end as well with 7 bugs left in the system. The bot felt great to control and the platforming was fun. The fans were a little tricky but everything still felt doable even though I died mostly cus of them. Not a fan of how the camera was locked though. Everything looked great as well and ran really smooth. The visuals as a whole were cohesive. The level design was tight and great and the checkpoints were many and really helped the pacing of the game, ensuring I wasn't stuck for too long. The sound effects were also very oddly satisfying lol, especially those bees. Don't really have an qualms other than camera lock and that the fans were a little hard at first. Great job overall.

@hacksawunit Thanks! Yeah there needed to be a bit more telegraphed there I think. We could definitely have added in some tutorialization of smaller cores that needed a single zap to fix or something for example. I would love to see speedrunners break the game! I had fun trying to zoom through some of the stuff. We might have designed a few things with that in mind :)

@badpiggy Nice! I agree the fans need some tweaking, especially that one that sends you upwards in the last level. The final level was really thrown together in the last minute so it didn't get much testing. Not quite sure what you mean by camera locking - is that the vertical axis limits or something else you are referring to? Ah shoot, I don't think I even mentioned that you can zoom in and out with scroll wheel in the game or description pages come to think of it.

Nice! The game felt like a fun 3D platformer, with good momentum and movement code. I was watching here and there on your stream (Ursagames)!

One criticism is that the enemies kind of felt a little pointless. They definitely added themeatically to the game, being literal bugs, but I found that skipping them was almost better as it didn't drain the battery. I think that, as a whole, the stakes of the game needed a bit of balancing, but hey - I played it all the way through, so I still had a lot of fun with it! Great work to the team!

ursagames 2021-10-05 07:32

@ollieoa Thanks! I had a lot of fun with tweaking the movement code. I agree, the bugs definitely didn't pose much of a threat. I should have definitely have made them quicker and maybe have a bigger aggro radius. But hey, at least it tracks how many bugs you left in your system at the end, so there is some motivation to squash them all :P

A challenging and fun experience! I liked the aesthetic and the human buzzing sounds and the chips in the shape of a hive. It would have been good to have a marker of which level or how many levels total there are. I did maybe 10 levels but got stuck and if I'd known how many more levels there were, I'd be more motivated to continue. A camera setting would be good - couldn't handle the inverted camera. :)

gustavb 2021-10-08 07:02

Personally not a fan of inverted Y camera. So thank you sooo much for the option to toggle it . I had fun playing!

One point of feedback from me would be that moving on the ground caused the bot to rotate towards the camera, but that was lost when in air. The point being the inconsistency, either keep rotating to on ground or ground + air, but with the current setup you could do both but the controls changed.

Scanning the comments, am I really the first person to click the "Do Not Click" button? Now I feel silly >_>

I didn't expect that many levels from a jam game, certainly not with the amount of graphic polish you put in and small team size. I felt like I was challenged in several different ways and there was plenty of variety. I like that one of the levels was the opening section to Ninja Warrior as well, since I recently got to try one of those courses.

The most fun parts of the game were the disappearing blocks and the rainbow road ramps, in that order for me. You really got a sense of speed throughout those sections which feels great since you're on such thin platforms.

This is a minor criticism but I felt like the levels were strung together with too much variety. When there was a new mechanic introduced, it didn't necessarily show up in the next level if my memory serves correct. While this led to keeping players on their toes, it sorta messes with the rhythm of going through the levels, like a song building up but in a bit of a chaotic way.

I still thought the game was quite fun though. I used to play Monkey Ball a ton so the mechanics and levels reminded me a bit of that. I was very impressed that you could convey this computer world so well graphically. The soothing music caught me off guard but it's nice to have that kind of music in a game where you're gonna die a lot. Very complete game, nice work :)

@benk Thanks! There actually is inverting camera and sensitivity options- I just did not advertise them in game as you need to press Esc to get to the options! I agree a level count would be good- I think we ended up with 17 levels in total. It was in the stretch goals to add in a level select screen, but it did not make it in as adding in a final level was higher priority.

@gustavb I think I probably should have made the inverted Y not the default, my bad! I also should have advertised the options to change that better in game ;)

I'm a bit confused on what you mean by the bot rotating towards the camera when on ground and not when in the air. The controls don't change for air / ground movement for rotation or camera alignment - but the amount of acceleration when in the air is highly reduced so that you keep momentum when jumping. The rotation is just based on the current velocity for what direction the bot is facing. I do think I might have made the acceleration a bit low in the air so there isn't enough control. For example, if you are standing still, jump, and then move- the rotation will face towards the direction you pressed with the same relation to the camera as when you are on the ground. If it's not behaving like that, then that might be some odd bug, since that's how it's behaved for me and others that have tested it.

ursagames 2021-10-08 07:21

@peachtreeoath Welp, it did say not to click it! I was surprised we managed to get that many levels out too. The ninja warrior section is one of my favorites too.

Interesting criticism, we actually decided to do that on purpose as it often feels like games use mechanics once right after introducing them and then never again so we tried to vary it up a bit- but that being said we didn't get much time to playtest our level order, that's something that's best done by watching people play test the game though.

Glad you had fun with our game!

ttu-hasan 2021-10-08 15:51

really amazing graphics and i loved overall gameplay

riper 2021-10-08 18:33

I don't know, but for some reason, after the cut scene, the settings menu starts and not a single button re works (

ursagames 2021-10-08 20:28

@riper what version were you playing and if it was web, what browser? I've only tested it on chrome, but it should work on firefox and edge. Not sure about any other browsers.

ache-games 2021-10-08 22:05

Well done, I enjoyed playing this game.

taffaz 2021-10-09 11:57

Really enjoyed that, loved the aesthetic with the little chip bugs and circuit board platforms. Got a soft spot for single wheeled robots as evidenced by one of my previous jam entries too. Great job.

fupi 2021-10-09 17:47

So cute! Impressive how much juice, graphics, and levels you managed to cram into 72 hours! I really liked the levels gimmicks and had no trouble finishing all levels, even though there were tons of them. Thank goodness for checkpoints! The music is absolutely perfect for the game, it's so chill and chirpy! The only thing I didn't like is that I felt the camera was too close, but my zoom out wasn't saved after I died, so I had to either zoom out every time or just accept it. Nevertheless, this has been one of my favorites!

cottonfloweryellow 2021-10-10 01:42

This is a wonderful entry! The characters are really cute ideas.

cavejohnson332 2021-10-10 18:26

I liked the idea, but inverted camera is terrible, I would say it was responsible for most of my deaths)

ursagames 2021-10-11 19:17

@fupi Thanks! I was surprised at how much we got done too since that was my first jam with Godot! I agree saving zoom level was one of the things on my checklist that did not make it in before the deadline.

@cavejohnson332 Definitely noted to change the default to not be inverted. Also there is the option to change the inverted camera, but I didn't end up putting in a note in game you can press Esc to get options while playing and I should have really put in options from the title screen too.

rookrules 2021-10-11 22:14

when is this coming to switch again?

zimny11 2021-10-13 08:04

Nice platformer. I like it. The graphics looks good with this nice low poly style. In-game mechanics are well done. And the music is pleasant to the ears. Great job!

spooderdooder 2021-10-18 11:01

:hearts: everyone complimenting the graphics got me like

oh-garsh.jpg

rongo-matane 2021-10-21 12:03

That was excellent! I was very impressed by the amount of parts and mechanics, and it was great you found some creative uses that go beyond the intial thing that is expected from the element, like having to go up a hill to gain speed. I got really frustrated with the inverted camera, until i accidentally opened the menu and saw the option for that - much fewer deaths after that :D

I got pretty far i think, but didn't get past the turbine that is supposed to push me high onto the rainbow - it never went high enough, and jumping didn't help. But it was motivating and fun to play, with a very good difficulty level. Great job :)

PS: of course i clicked the button too! :D
