One of my favorites so far, I mean the parallax alone. I love the feeling of the controls. All around great really.

One of my favorites so far, I mean the parallax alone. I love the feeling of the controls. All around great really.
very calming game, I love the graphics and being able to speed up and slow down felt very satisfying (I may have had too much fun with the controls and forgot to feed the birds oops)
love the idea and art, the flying is a bit to fast for the calm mood of the game in my opinion. overall great entry tho! good job guys, hope your toddler can enjoy your games in the future
Very satisfying eye-soothing game. The ending scene music, as well as the environment, was great.
The graphics and colour scheme are amazing! The flying mechanics also feel really good. Flying at high speed and seeing the parallax background is so beautiful! Great idea and great atmosphere. Really well done :)
Loved the bird mechanics! They're very smooth and satisfying! Nice animations as well! Didn't really thought much about those little birds in the nest because I was pretty busy having fun flying around! = )
This is sooo good!!! Everything feels smooth and plays well, and it all looks absolutely gorgeous! The atmosphere this creates is so relaxing despite the rush to collect bugs and worms, and I loved playing this game. Amazing work!
Really nice visuals and a great parallax effect! It's a really nice concept and the controls feel good. Great job, well done!
5/5 !! Excellent game! One of my favorites so far. The feeling is great, the flying mechanics intuitive and brilliant parralax. Loled with my first attemp to pick un a worm during flight. Hats off!
Really nice concept and well done! I loved the ending sequence!
Try our game, we also made a sidescroller bird thing! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/eat-preys-love
the controls and parallax made the flying experience pretty neat, good job!
I totally love the parallax of the forest and the layers of treas are just beautiful. I really think you captured the feeling of flying. A bit hard to control the landings when collecting worms. Over all a nice game and really impressive for one person. Great job!
Great game! The graphics are really nice and the animations looks great! It took a while to learn to fly, but once I had that down it was really fun just flying around. It would be more fun if there was more to do than just fly, but for a jam game this is really well done!
I like the control, it was so great to flying like that! ~~I miss a support for gamepad~~
Wow, thank you all for your comments, it is really reassuring to know that it comes across like we hoped. I was really questioning how we spent our time, since we took a whole day to iterate on the parallax stuff, although this isn't even actual gameplay, only "visual candy". But we felt it was more about a mood and nice feeling than about hardcore mechanics. :)
@bbkate98 Hehe, happened to me once too, surprised to come back to a "dead nest". I wanted to include a "free fly" mode with no hatchling pressure, but time was up, you know how it goes ;)
@stuembi Actually we hope she'll help us with it down the road. We are not clear yet if she leans towards programming or art though :D
@macdoom This is a great idea to be able to pick worms in flight. High risk, high reward as on option to the more conventional method. Thank you for the idea, i'll probably put that in after the jam :)
@glowt Thank you! Regarding landing, i was thinking about this a lot. I have a check, that if your landing angle is too steep, you'll crash instead of land. But i wondered if this was a good idea, as it might not be clear to the player when it's safe to land. Was this an issue, that you went down very steeply, or was it something else? Did you notice you kind of have to hold down brake to land, so that you have the appripriate speed?
@dankar Thank you :) Just to be sure, did you notice that you have to catch insects and feed them to your hatchlings in your nest?
@a-312 Did gamepad work for you? I did nothing towards gamepad, but it might work out of the box due to Godot's input map (probably only dpad, if so). I though about gamepads too, and different control schemes that would be possible with a stick (stick for direction, shoulder pads to brake or speed up). Would be interesting in any case :)
Wonderful! So much polish! The art is beautiful, I love how the sound of the wind changes when you speed up. The flying is really fun and satisfying and the game is just long enough where it doesn't get repetitive. A great fit for the theme. I proudly watched as my chicks took off only get eaten by a cat to a soothing song and pan of the sunrise.. (I rectified that on my second playthrough).
great instructions, and the overall experience is great.. so well-planed.
love the swishing sound when you goes faster and the fact that you flip automatically when you do a loop.
great feeling when you land and I also appreciate that you only tumble when you hit the ground instead of dying \( ̄︶ ̄*\))
Sweet and relaxing game! I really like it! Quite hard to make all the three birds grow but I liked the challenge! Well done !
Hello! Your game was played during my stream!

What a great game! The flight is satisfying and fair, but still challenging. The look and sounds are beautiful and merge together very well. The finished product is very calming. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would be that there were times when I would fly for long stretches without finding any food, which made me feel like my success was more down to luck than skill. I'll be honest though, I was diving up and down looking for both worms and insects in the trees, so it could have been that my strategy just backfired. Thank you for sharing this great game!
The flyong bird animation is just top! I also appreciate so much the parallax effect of your backround. You really put a lot of effort in this one. Keep it up and I wish you good luck with Ludum Dare!
Absolutely wonderful art and animation. Just flying around felt great. So much polish to everything .
Great job!
I really loved the game, the mood is incredible and it felt so nice just to fly high above the trees to see the landscapes far away! My little birds died eaten by a cat :( the end cinematic was beautiful too!
Nicely done! The flight was great along with the sounds and the smoothness of the controls. Maybe some more challenges within the game mechanics would have made the game fun for longer.
Really great work!
I had trouble to land at first, so I ended up crashlanding close to the worms... Sometimes you have to choose between dignity or feeding you kids x)
I had fun playing it, a calm experience, great job !
This is probably the most beautiful game I've seen for LD46, this bidirectional parallax is just sublime, congratulations!
It shows that as long as you have a strong theme, even the most simplistic game mechanics can turn into a good game with enough polish.
I really loved your game! You are a true artist. One of my favorites so far!
Loved this entry! The concept was simple, but very well executed.
I loved the bird graphics and animations (the crashing one was painful to look at) Flight controls felt super tight once I got used to controlling the speed, which was not the case on my first run  After that they just "clicked" and it became immensely rewarding to just speed up and turn. Landing still took a bit more work
Btw, that first playthrough ended abruptly on a black screen and I had to reload. I was still hearing sound, so I'm not sure if there was any kind of error or if I just hit a defeat condition. Luckily, it only happened once.
On my second run I did reach the end, which was kind of sad. However, I got a contradictory message between what I was seeing on the scene and the text that confused me a bit.
Despite those relatively minor things I really enjoyed this game. Congrats!
Thank you all for your feedback and your kind words! :)
@ithildin Thank you especially for the details! Did you play web or desktop? There seems to be a tough bug left i need to check on. Regarding the end - i fear i made it a tad misleading. When your chicks are too small (aka no feathers), they start from the nest, fly a little but don't really take off - just a prolonged fall into the woods (where they are ultimately eaten offscreen). If they did make it, they soar into the skies. Not really clear to the player, sorry for that!
@rongo-matane I tried the web version (Firefox, Win10).
Thanks for clarifying the ending, it all makes sense now! (Pity, my poor little chicks seemed to be doing fine :_S)
Lovely lovely game!
Graphics and controls are incredible plus, watching your birdlings grow strong and survive, it made me emotional :stuck_out_tongue:
Superb work.
Holy Parallax batman! Loved flying ( once I learned not to plummet to the ground ) in this, it felt quite natural. I'd strongly urge you to do more with this concept post jam. As others have said, between the charming art and the well exceuted physics /animation of the bird flying, it'd be fun to see more of it.
One minor tweak, if you do persue this further, is maybe to handle the bird animations / angle separate to the physics side. For example, I was messing around flying straight upwards, let go, and eventually the blackbird started flapping backwards.
This game is gorgeous! The controls were fun and I was excited when I didn't crash land the first time.
The art is awesome- the baby birds made me laugh lmao. The flying feels pretty fluid and I'm thankful that I didn't die on impact. I'm surprised no one has pointed it out yet, but the title of the game probably won't fly over well with everyone- I'd consider changing it. Good job on the game itself though!
Great entry. Good artwork, good audio, short and sweet.
Oh man, this was at once both comedical yet serene at the same time. Great job, especially with the flying mechanics, which felt very satisfying together with the audio/visual feedback.
If you're using 3rd party audio assets, please attribute them! :)
Thank you all for the feedback :)
@sugarsores Yeah i think you are right regarding the title, only i haven't found one i like.
@ddrkirbyisq Thank you! :) Regarding the assets, yes most of them are not from us which is why we opted out. The end music is the only thing from us. Most of the sounds are public domain or creative commons 0. The others which require attribution are listed ingame, if you press ESC for pause and click the "Attribution" button on the bottom right. I fear though that only very few players know about the pause menu, so this might not be too effective :D Is this what you meant, or do you mean something more extensive?
Oh, that makes sense, perfect :) I was expecting it to be either on the submission page or in the credits, but as long as you've got them in the project that's fine!
This is a really lovely game. The graphics are great and harmonic, everything fits perfectly. None of my offspring made it, so I suppose I still won by keeping some cat alive? :P
Wow that was a pretty surreal experience. A bit of an emotional moment when the one child I fed flew away as the two others that I purposely neglected died in the nest.
