Love it. Simple, well-executed concept, great audio design. Knocked it out of the park. Or the court, rather.

noeloskar 2021-10-04 01:09

Really good, but maybe diffrent keys for single player could help, like it wasn't that comfortable to play and i sometimes forgor what should i press, but maybe it's just me being tired cuz it's 3am

jcmonkey 2021-10-04 01:58

so the controls were too hard to manage. it would have been nice to have the arrow keys be movement, and then have your left hand be the bat or racket. having one hand do both made the game too hard to manage. the game looks really good and runs well.

elastic 2021-10-04 08:20

So polished! Wish that I could play the multiplayer with someone. Also agree that it might be good to have different controls for singleplayer/multiplayer.

bloodbane 2021-10-04 13:46

To tell the truth, I don't know which is more unstable, is it the ball which bounces erratically or me who sometimes can hit the ball but other time can't hit it :D. Nice game nonetheless, had some fun playing it :D

gamepopper 2021-10-04 15:46

Great opening music, a nice tennis style game where the bats randomly disable to keep you on your toes. ALso like the detail where if the can hits between the walls for too long it will change direction to go towards the player to keep the pace up.

ludokultur 2021-10-04 16:13

The polish is insane with this one! So juicy!

mascoll 2021-10-04 16:16

Amazing sound and feel! The screenshake in combination with the great sfx really sells the punchiness. Very hard game to put down! Beautiful and clear pixel graphics!

madjackmcmad 2021-10-04 16:17

This a great way to spend time and get very angry at your own incompetence. There has not been so juicy and rewarding a ball smackin sound since a very long time. Jokes jokes jokes. You did great work.

secretpocketcat 2021-10-04 22:26

Insanely juicy, really love the visuals and the core loop.

The 1 player layout is too cramped, though, the hit area could be a bit more generous and the system that prevents the ball keeping vertically sometimes redirects the ball into super hard to catch angles.

alchemic 2021-10-04 22:37

Very fun! Will have to come back and play with a friend. Super satisfying to nail those tough hits! I like the extra stuff like the mushroom ring.

The only trouble I had was telling whether the bat or racket was active. But then I noticed that the colors of the circles are different and had a much easier time.

Super good!

stanroy 2021-10-05 01:10

Simple and fun game, love it!

omegafalcon 2021-10-05 01:19

Really fun! The controls and sfx were great and the game just keeps pulling me in to play more

mscarrotcake 2021-10-05 01:23

Haha, I like how it just keep playing with no screen in between so I can just keep trying. I think I kinda figured out that the B and R shows which one I can use? However, I always don't remember which key is for which.

I also like the shaking of the screen whenever you hit.

Really nice game!

reef 2021-10-05 03:12

The sound, graphics, and effects are really excellent and make smacking that can so satisfying. Like others, I struggled a bit with the controls- my fingers were cramped and it took me a while to wrap my head around which button was for the racket and which one was for the bat. Learning the way the game works was fun, although I feel like there are still some mysteries for me to figure out if I wasn't so poor at playing!

ursagames 2021-10-05 07:01

I love the aesthetic of this game and the crazy rules. I couldn't manage to pull off any runs, but I managed to get close a couple times. Like others said, the juice in this game is great and you can really feel the impact of every shot. I really wish we could do a dive for cases where the ball decides to redirect after bouncing vertically.

randomphantom 2021-10-05 09:33

nice and juicy. very cool way of embedding the game into the website. controls were a bit odd which I guess is the point of the theme.

masaru 2021-10-05 13:48

Very interesting game. A bit too hard for me though, the hitbox of the bat / racket is a bit too tiny for my tastes.

kukurammus 2021-10-05 14:33

A little hard to hit ball sometimes, so no big combos for me, but overall really polished game with nice graphics :D

sipfindel 2021-10-05 17:57

It's a fun little game. The controls were a bit harder and the hitbox was quite precise so it was a bit harder. I'd also put the indicator of what you should swing (bat or racket) somewhere closer to the line of sight. But other than that pretty fun.

nardandas 2021-10-06 04:36

Really really fun game. I got to level 5! I found the way you had to switch between keys interesting, but not very easy. Moving my eyes between the ball and the key thing was kind of hard. Additionally, the angles bits at the left of the field really made it hard to hit the ball in certain situations. Really really beautiful game though. I love the waving trees and the art and sound design in general.

100th-coin 2021-10-06 17:29

Yo, this was a lot of fun! I'm a huge fan of those swaying leaves around the edges of the screen! My best score was about 1275, which I got by mashing both F and G at the same time so I never failed a swing, ha! I love the details, like the friends just hanging out in the bottom right. Very cool game!

ddrkirbyisq 2021-10-06 23:49

1850 points, woo! This is a very strange sport.

Some of the people complaining about the controls are apparently trying to use one hand to both move and hit, which is...bizarre. Having grown up playing 2p coop games on a single keyboard, I didn't see any problem with the control scheme at all, though I think the "B / R" letters on the rings were probably kind of confusing.

Having the "F / G" key icons be on the lower left of the screen is probably a bit awkward for some players since it forces you to divert your attention from the ball -- it's not a place that people naturally look? I found it to be just fine, but something you may want to consider.

Other than that, this is strangely fun. Maybe you should explain the rules of the game a bit more, though? Like it's really not obvious what the "crits", "rings", and "runs" are. Perhaps just a short blurb in your game description?

rubr 2021-10-07 10:24

As always, an incredibly pretty, well polished and *crunchy* game :D

I would echo others' sentiment about placing the F/G buttons somewhere more within line of sight. Otherwise, had a lot of fun playing it!

antoined73 2021-10-07 18:21

Really nice gameplay loop, it is really enjoyable playing with someone, liked it ! Even if you put effort to make it clear on the character, it is a bit hard to know what racket you can use though. Also it is not clear what zones do what. Nice entry and good job

lereveur 2021-10-07 22:26

I'm not sure I understood all the subtilities, but it was very fun and a little addictive, even if I didn't managed to go over 1525 points. Nice arts and mood too, so well done!

Full comment:

This game is really addicting. Everything has just the right amount of visual crunch and juiciness to it. It's easy to get into the rhythm of the game and enter a certain flow where you can keep the can bouncing from wall-to-wall.

At the same time, I was a bit disappointed that it was possible either the bat or racket control can end up being deactivated. While that does bring some much needed change-up for two-player gameplay, on one-player, knowing that the controls may be disabled forced me to pay close attention to the character and the rings around it, vs. the rest of the game. This is a shame, because it looked like upon watching the recording that there's a lot of nuance on how to adjust the angle of the shot, what each ground element does, and whether to use bat or racket based on whether you want to take advantage of the ground elements or not. It would have been nice if the range and toggle of whether the bat or racket is usable or not was streamlined so that I can put my focus elsewhere, such as adjusting the angle and speed of the can.

That said, the polish in this game is quite excellent, and I can see myself playing this over and over to get a better score. Great job.
