How was this made in 72h? o.o

max6333 2018-08-14 00:34

Oh boy, this is quite a large game. Didn't get to finish it, but it seems pretty swell. Only thing is, I don't see much relation to the theme.

darkguardsman 2018-08-14 00:51

Visually it looks good, and has a creepy vib. However, its unclear how to get around the ship. Ladders are hard to spot and O2 goes down too fast.

zeta0134 2018-08-14 00:56

Wow. Nailed the atmosphere. I played through three times and died all three times though; do the terminals to enter the codes not spawn every time? I noticed the layout was different on each playthrough. The 100 cap on oxygen was a little weirdly limiting though, since I couldn't opt not to pick a tank up. Either way though, for 72 hours this is impressive stuff.

2lol555 2018-08-14 09:59

Navigation throughout the ship is pretty unintuitive and the gameplay is not explained very well, but the creepy mood of the game makes up for some of these small flaws. Liked the idea, but I wish the sickness spread a bit more, giving the sense of urgency.

Good job nevertheless.

hinkarn 2018-08-14 11:04

Wow, this is a lot of content for 72 hours. Anyhow, couldn't finish the game, ran through all the floors and couldn't find a single terminal.

znw 2018-08-14 11:09

@hinkarn thanks! You probably could just restart the game (it has procedurally generated level layout), and the terminals will eventually pop up in one of generations.

zicboy 2018-08-14 11:17

Awesome game! loved the graphics!

edgelord 2018-08-14 11:17

WHY? Why is there only a windows build?! It is made with with Java, so please make a macos / linux build! That cant' be difficult with a java game! Please, I'd like to play that game!

rexagon 2018-08-14 11:17

Interesting idea, however running through similar sections and listening such music is quite depressive) Also there are some issues with generating level. Maybe if you had enough time there will be smth like Silent Hunter)

znw 2018-08-14 11:21

@edgelord sorry, we failed time management yesterday a bit, couldn't pull off testing the builds for anything other than Windows. We probably could get the appropriate builds uploaded today, but it will take some time.

raivk 2018-08-14 11:45

Woaw ! Super funny game, well done ! I love the UI style.

edgelord 2018-08-14 11:49

@znw Thanks! This was also my first ldjam, and we also had time problems

dmtroy 2018-08-14 11:56

Presentation wise I think you've done really well at creating something with such a strong mood in the time we have, it's very effective.

Gameplay wise though I found it a bit lacking, I didn't seem to do other than run through each room picking up whatever I found

nikasxirtla 2018-08-14 12:19

Graphics look good and atmosphere is great! I really liked it.

djibess 2018-08-14 12:19

Good audio, the name was very good and also the picture you used they really caught my eyes and made me give it a try. I liked the UI style but i wanted it to be a lil smaller size! overall good game don't hesitate to try mine!

stames 2018-08-14 12:48

you surely made it quite creepy, and scary very nice I had a hard time to spot the ladders and never finished it because at some point I could't finde anything but I think I walked the whole submarine. It's hard to interact with the SOS signal things because there is just a very small spot to do so. But your Sounds are amazing. They realy underline the creepy atmosphere of the game

2018-08-14 13:35

Great game!

kirillr 2018-08-14 13:45

Judging by the screenshots and video the game is really interesting and beautifully decorated, but unfortunately it crashes right after the inscription "Click anywhere to start"

znw 2018-08-14 14:45

@edgelord added linux version. Should be working. You can launch the game by running the run.sh or just executing its contents in terminal.

edgelord 2018-08-14 14:49

@znw thank u! I will try it on my linux laptop, is a macOs build also possible? I think that should be possible with java? Can you maybe just build a .jar using maven or so?

znw 2018-08-14 14:50

@edgelord yes, the .jar is in zip file. Couldn't test in on macOS, but it could be working.

lagoe 2018-08-14 16:43

A little buggy but, I really like creepy atmosphere of this kind of games. Good job.

julia-lundman 2018-08-14 22:04

The ap was a bit confusing for me so I couldn't find the things I needed in time and at last I gave up. It is clear what you need to do though! Very good indicators in the corner. It's a huge game and map for being made in such a short time! It is indeed a bit like our game like you said c; (Miss Eyesore). I did enjoy it and it looked quite nice!

awix 2018-08-15 05:43

Great graphics and the audio really helps you get into the game.

thedouche 2018-08-15 06:42

liked the game didn't really understand all, but overall great game!

darylsteak 2018-08-15 10:06

The game was really sweet, especially for something done in only 72 hours. The intro and atmosphere was very well set up, and the animations look sweet.

Unfortunately im reaaally bad with creepy stuff and chickened out halfway through, but that just shows how well this was done.

Very good job.

zicboy 2018-08-19 06:29

Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!

ursagames 2018-08-22 12:36

Outstanding graphics and atmosphere! The animations were really well done. I didn't manage to beat it, but I was enjoying myself. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here is a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=01h16m42s

dikkop 2018-08-23 18:36

Cool atmosphere! Maybe make the map slightly smaller to create more tension faster.

jonathan-lorenz 2018-09-04 08:30

Love the Flashback / Prisoner of Ice vibe! However, imo there was a bit too much to do for the first level, maybe trim it down to fewer task and later increase the number of tasks. Also, at a certain point, my cheap pc started lagging and never recover. Good work and good mood!
