A nice concept, executed well within the time constraints. As the others have said, I hope you'll continue work on this and make more levels and more challenges! It's a bit easy at this length.
A detail I felt was missed - it wasn't clear to me how happiness was generated. I guessed that it was making sure monsters didn't get too close to your houses, so I put down a lot of archer towers. In hindsight, I'm not sure that was how that mechanic worked!
A surprisingly deep and ambitious design, Lars! Kudos for accomplishing so much during 72 hours. I've spent about 30 minutes playing your game (on SRAMOPT), and haven't managed to beat it yet. Can't tell exactly what I'm doing wrong, but it's fun in any case. This game would benefit from a further playthrough at a later time. I'll be back when judging begins.
The game is fun to explore and figure out, and there was one game where I thought I was doing really well with economy and then got totally trapped by embargos - so your design demands a balanced approach, which is neat!
Graphics are succinct and effective. The non-title music track gives me a slightly "grand market" feel instead of "defending earth," but they're of good enough quality that I will be inclined to rate them highly nonetheless.
Looking forward to what you produce in future LD events!
I can corroborate the Safari woes of @m-1 - and I found this error in the console. Can provide more info if needed: ``` TextureFormat 17 is not supported on this platform ```
Other than that, this is a great game! Very simple, solid idea, executed well. Graphics are perfect for this, and lucky you to find music that fits! I second the comments above about making your abilities cost a little more to make the game a tiny bit more strategic than it currently is.
Yay! Another game involving basic graph theory! The CS major in me would love to see a larger, denser network with force-directed layout (maybe it's force directed already? Couldn't tell), and maybe some measure of "centrality" or "importance" that has meaning in-game.
But this is a good effort given the time constraints. Would enjoy seeing it developed further.
Also a bit of a bug - Safari + Unity doesn't support fullscreen, which makes reading the instructions and the opening text very hard. Consider opening a bigger window on Itch and properly scaling to support it. Works fine on Chrome, as you know.
There's a really cool, small concept which could have used some more UI polish lurking here. Surprisingly deep for how simple the game is, I didn't complete a playthough (if there is an ending) but I enjoyed the minutes I spent with it. Sometimes I found myself accidentally clicking to complete movement before I intended, which was slightly annoying.
I had some difficulty figuring out the relationship between number of houses and number of people generated - it didn't seem one-to-one, which was non-intuitive.
A nice, small, well-executed concept! As some other commenters have mentioned, I wasn't sure what the losing condition was. Maybe that's the message?
I was also not sure what the point of moving your buildings to other places was, aside from avoiding a ship that was hovering directly over your side of the map. Also, did the different characters mean anything besides color?
I wish I could say that I finished the game without help from these comments - but that feels like a lie that doesn't deserve telling when I've just witnessed a great social commentary like this one. To be honest, though, I figured out part of the puzzle totally by accident! I suppose that was intentional?
Great graphics, I wished there was a little more sound, but that's probably because making music and audio is my favorite part of LD. Really great idea, kept small and tidy. Perfect LD game.
