that was fun!
@turncoda Hey, thanks for playing!
nice graphics
@@spinaljack Thanks, glad you liked them!
Wow! nice graphics and sound, really fun! Very nice name also  !
Adding a display for how much health the enemy still have could be nice, but it is not really a problem.
Great game! Well done!
@aviv871 thanks so much for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!
Really fun. I wish that there was a better way to change direction though. It felt a little clunky to try and shoot an enemy behind me.
@Spaceman Thanks for the feedback! We are considering fixing somethings like that in the future.
Thanks for the review @spaceman! The turning controls definitely need a little work. Happy you had fun!
Great griphics and music.
Good game, though the controls defiinitely were a bit awkward. Having the controls twin stick probably would've been a better choice rather than 4 direction.
Really enjoyed it! I like rogue-likes a whole lot, would love to see this developed more with additional types of upgrades! I did experience one small bug where after I got multi-shot I could no longer turn when I shot. Was thinking it might have been for balance reasons since multi-shot was so good but was really glad on the next run when I could actually turn when I had it! Great game, good luck!
Very solid presentation. Could use some improvements for either movement or possibly direction of aiming, but enjoyable nonetheless.
really nice game and concept! i love the rough textured graphics! would be nice to shoot from more directions though
very cool concept although it might be nice if the world was a little bigger, and if you could aim a little easier. Sweet entry none the less!
A very polished game and an overall great submission.
Only a couple of things wrong with it: the control scheme was a bit unpleasant, and the bullets were a bit too fast and numerous on the small planets, making them very difficult to avoid.
Good job!
Not bad at all! The gameplay looked solid and the game felt quite polished. Good job ;)
Very fun, and for how simple it was it didn't even feel repetitive. Graphics and audio were also a perfect match for the gameplay :)
I had fun playing it. really good project, though the controls definitely were a bit awkward. I assume that you could improve them. However, the gameplay is good enough. Well done ++
Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback we are looking into where we want to take the project and fixing the controls is one of the first things on the list!
Very fun arena-style game! I think there is a bug where I don't lose all of my health (stays at 1 health even when hit again), but I don't know how to reproduce the bug. I probably would have died earlier without it.
The upgrade system is nice, but I personally couldn't see much of a difference when upgrading the rate of fire beyond the first upgrade.
When you receive messages from people, the gameplay itself should somehow pause so that you're not multitasking (trying to read the message and fending off attacking enemies at the same time).
The procedural planetoids are a very nice touch. Great game!
This may be the largest team I've seen so far this LD so far. Cool game and also impressive that you managed to coordinate so large a team in so short time space.
(One small technical thing: Pressing the esc-key on leaves fullscreen (at least in Firefox). So it would be grate if the scrolling intro text could be skipped with some other key, like space or enter)
Thanks @jordgubben ! It certainly wasn't easy. Good catch with the ESC key, we'll make sure to fix that.
I love this! It was so fun, the level progression was excellent, the music and sound effects were perfect, and the humor was subtle but not invisible (like the overclocking joke). Good job! ``` I'm the pilot, I brought the message I'm the pilot, I brought the message ```
Well it's game i've spent the most time playing so far, so it must be good.
I saw someone else had the same multishot bug as me. I lost far too much health frozen in place before I could get it to reset and let me turn again. Besides that it was a great game. The puns were a nice touch too.
Very very fun game! Only real criticism is that the aiming felt a little bit clunky, especially since the missiles' speed make it very difficult to turn around and shoot them before you get hit. Otherwise, it felt super tight, and the ability to upgrade just made it even more fun! Great music as well, and the graphics fit nicely.
I wish the levels didn't just reset when you complete the last area though! I've gone through twice to max out my ship and I wish we found out what was at the center. :(
That was really enjoyable! I got to the very last level before I finally died; I was genuinely considering playing again immediately, but I need to judge other games too, so I'll be coming back after judging is complete to try again.
I do agree that the aiming is a bit of a problem, but not a huge one. I do wish there were more upgrades available that changed the way you fought (like the multi-shot one), though. In any case, while the aiming feel a bit awkward (especially since the _enemies_ can shoot in any direction), changing it would probably involve re-balancing a lot of the game.
My other two complaints are UI complaints: It's not really feasible to read the messages you get occasionally, because you're fighting while they're scrolling by. Maybe don't spawn any enemies until after the message has completed? Also, in the WebGL version (the only version I can play, since I'm on a Mac), pausing the game is pretty awkward: you have to hit escape to pause and unpause, but instead of doing what you wanted, it first kicks you out of full-screen. Then you press it again and it pauses. That means that if you want to pause, you can't safely get back into full screen until you beat the level.
Anyway, I hope you expand this further, I really like it!
Smooth gameplay. I liked the detail on the planets
I really liked the game, however I felt like a lot of the upgrades weren't very well balanced. Max health, for instance, is strictly worse than max sheilds, since shields will regenerate over time, while you have to spend an upgrade to heal your hearts.
It would also be nice if the direction your ship pointed wasn't locked to the direction you were moving and if your ship carried more momentum and could slide and drift. Using physics and controls similar to the game Luftrauser (without the gravity pulling you downward) would make the game feel more responsive and dynamic and would be a pretty good fit, in my opionion.
Pretty good work overall, though.
Rock solid presentation. Congrats!
"It would also be nice if the direction your ship pointed wasn’t locked to the direction you were moving and if your ship carried more momentum and could slide and drift."
Agreed with this.
This or a strafe button. =)
Really great, I really enjoyed it. It doesn't seem like a game done in 72 hours - the gameplay is great, the music and graphics fitting and it's quite funny at times. Only one thing - it is quite difficult to read the text showing while in level, since you are already playing, and you should read the messages at the same time, but that's not a big problem.
@ghostbomb thanks so much for the feedback! my first task for the post jam will be luftrausers style controls; I agree I think that will work well
I think a bunch of people have said that "point where you shoot" would have really helped this out. It's not bad by any means and well done for a Ludum Dare. Nice work!
Funny, fast and furious. Everything a spaceship game need
All aspects are at a high level. Very nice job guys!!
Nice graphics, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNgoyhHtWC0
