Hey, getting ready to test this. To anyone wanting to download an emulator, here's the direct link to the one the author posted. The website is a bit messy.

Assembly brings back so many scary memories. Well done man, given the timespan and what you achieved, I'm rather impressed.
In-Air jumping added a nice mechanic to the game and added the most fun factor to it.
The theme obviously fits rather well and taking into account what you had to work with, the graphics work well.
The music was a tiny bit too much and could be changed a little bit, keeping less in more in mind. Of course it very closely resembles music of that time but I think the general feel of the game could be brought across better with slightly different music.
The last screen made me laugh so have some +Humour for that!
Overall, enjoyable albeit short.
Well, it's impressive that you did this at all!
I'm not sure what else to say, though. The game doesn't really have a lot going for it.
I would give you some points for Graphics because the little guy's rotating feet were cute, but I have to take away a point for the garish green background. ;)
I don't really understand why you hate XNA so much... did it kill your parents?
Ah yes, that point about XNA.
The thing I hate about it so much is that it does not run on anything that isn't Windows or Xbox at all (read: I can't just grab Wine or Mono and run it in there).
This is why I tell people who are tempted to use it, to use OpenTK or Tao instead.
Haha, probably the only SMS game on here. Got to give you credit for something unique.
I had to download an emulator to test your game, it was well worth it! It felt like a 15 years ago platform game, excluding the fact XNA didn't exist at that time. :D
Amazing stuff, using a real retro platform is way cooler than just faking it.
The game was a little bland (you did say in it was fucking boring...), but as a programmer I know that it's still a good effort. Good dig at XNA there, and nice one sneaking in that song at the end, it make it worth while ^_^
This was a fun ;)
HOLY CRAP. A MASTER SYSTEM GAME?
*dies of excitement*
I downloaded the emulator just to play this game. Awesome!! We need a "technical" section just for guys like you :-)
First of all, your game isn't boring :) The difficulty is low wich is a good choice for LD I think, playing it was a pleasure. I'm not fond of white you-never-know-if-you-can-stand-on-it blocks butevery thing else was ok.
I noticed the fun air jump which is NOT a double-jump, very rare, that's one more star for innovation ^_^
The music is good too.
I will keep the Kega Fusion in case some other competitor is making a SMS game :)
one of my favourites. stunning work.
