The clean aesthetic is really strong. I'm confused as to why ESDF is the directional movement instead of WASD but maybe that's better for alternate keyboards layouts. It's really difficult but I was able to get somewhat better over time. The only seemingly unfair points are when the sacrifice zone is in the corner of the map.

ESDF is just personal preference -- I've been using this for a long time now in many other games.

Nice game! Right on the theme.

the mechanic of grabbing enemies to throw into the sacrifice zone seems a little tough to use, since the main way enemies attack you is when you get close. I think that might have worked a little better if enemies used mainly ranged attacks so you would have to work to get in close to them. Mostly I just wound up kiting enemies around the sacrifice zone and trying to pull them in at the last second. It is kind of cool having to weigh the risk/reward of destroying enemies to protect yourself while also wanting to leave enough on-screen to complete the next sacrifice. Also, this is a small thing, but the diagonal lines moving through the circle is a *really* good looking effect! Everything about this game is super visually pleasing, but something about that animation really caught my eye

A really nice game, I usually tried to lure the enemies into the zones it's easier than going in the melee to grab balls :p

thesnide 2022-10-03 12:56

I didn't managed to grab them. But luring them is very easy. Well, until you're overwhelmed

The gfx are simple but slick. Love it.

Thank you for the kind words and awesome feedback, @gamedevzach @stoickekis @nicholas-maddalena @castitatis @thesnide !

It spawns a bit too much in the begining of the game. Didn't manage to grab them. But running around felt good as long as there were not too many of them.

pretty unusual esdf layout, but i think it's for accounting azerty keyboards? pretty thoughtful, i like it. Love the mechanics, it's fun. I would've put a sfx when a projectile hits an enemy to give it more oomph, and in general added a couple more sfx to make it feel less empty. but otherwise very cool game! congrats!

graphics are very simple but stylish, clean and readable

Very epic

I like the concept! Nicely done!

So cool! Each weapon is satisfying to use, I had a lot of fun!

lawrence 2022-10-05 20:26

Very smooth and fun gameplay!

cottontshirtz 2022-10-05 22:37

Really wish that enemies killed in the zone count towards the sacrifice, otherwise the weapons are a liability.

mcnuttys 2022-10-07 02:26

This game is really fun, and looks great! My only critique is that the weapons are almost a detrimental thing for me. I pick up big laser beam, I now want to kite a group of enemies into a nice bunch that I can then annihilate which makes gathering sacrifices difficult as my brain is not in gather sacrifice mode but rather DECIMATE. But im probably doing it wrong. Regardless, really nice game I enjoyed it!

david-forrester 2022-10-07 02:26

I like the use of the weapons to thin out the enemies so they don't get too overwhelming, though I found myself having to launch missiles into nowhere to avoid accidentally killing off TOO MANY sometimes (I need victims for the sacrifice!). In any case, the game is fun to play and the graphics are quite polished (it is not just shapes; it is shapes done very well), so great work!

rialgar 2022-10-08 17:53

Love the pacing and rythm of the gameplay. Was a bit confused initially on how it works (did not grok I can grab them, I just tried leading them into the target area), but that may be on me

sergilazaro 2022-10-11 09:39

Like others said, a bit confusing at the beginning but pretty fun once you get it. Good job!

Just out of curiosity, why ESDF? Is it because then you avoid problems with non-QWERTY keyboards like AZERTY?

literally-void 2022-10-11 19:32

@sergilazaro ESDF gives me a lot more real estate for keybindings close to the movement cluster, and thank you for the feedback!
