Neat little game. Music reminiscent of 90's mac games.. I didn't manage to get fired as I only played a few moments, felt like the truck could have filled up faster.

@b-golda Thank you for your feedback! I agree the game was not balanced at all. I released a version Monday, before the end of the Jam with some reworks on the map (I added few Dump) and few fixes. I changed the amount of garbage the truck can carry and increased the garbage drop rate. I think the game is more interesting and a bit harder now :smiley:
I liked the idea ; I thought it was funny but I thought it was lacking some things : feedback (when the trash appears, when you pick up trash), and one thing I found annoying was the unability to pick up trash while moving. I think the game could have been a little more dynamic if you didn't have to stop every two seconds to pick up trash. But good game nonetheless ! I had fun.
There is some good potential here! Art-wise, adding a few details here and there, like street lines that are --- and stop sign. Picking up trash by pressing a button I believe slows things down to much. It seemed random when and where trash would spawn. Would be cool if it spawned in a set pattern so that you could plan routes like real garbage trucks. Having to deal with incoming cars would be cool too. Also Maybe starting with some of the neighborhood already trashed and having some trash you can only pickup with upgrades later might be interesting.
Pretty fun. I didn't see too many issues with the colliders. Good work!
Thanks for your comments! :)
@akuirako it effectively could be a good thing to have more indicators of what you do, and when it'll be finished or not. I wanted to force the player to stop and take the time to grab the garbage, else it would only have been car driving game I guess. Maybe few changes are needed to improve this repetitive task. Moreover the way I compute which garbage is currently picked-up is a bit messy and not optimized, if I make a post-jam I should rework on all of this.
@carlos-giraldo Making a more realistic map is a real need. As I was taken by the time, I only made one type of house, as I wanted to make a real city. Actually, trash ARE spawning randomly :3 They just spawn with a 1 second latency and the more time you play, the bigger the trash will be. At the very beginning I wanted the game to be you, driving a snow plow so the drivers can drive through the city and don't be mad about being stuck into traffic jam. But I didn't tried to make AI, so it finished like this. It would really improve the gameplay I guess. Adding an upgrade notion could be very lovely, I'll think about it :)
A very neat game! And here are my tips for you: - your background tiles are not matching everytime; set the "Pixels Per Unit" on the sprite to the same as they are big (eg. 64x64px -> 64PPU) so they are exacly one unit large. Put your Camarafollow in the LateUpdate method (if you have some). And disable MSAA on your Camera - The truck ist bouncing a little bit back, switch to Continuos Collision Detection in the rigidbody if you want get rid of it - if your triggers are still not working sometimes, try to use OnTriggerStay to prevent this
Good luck^^
Nice game, i had some troubles picking some of the trash and i had to move and spam space and it worked. But nice game overall.
Thanks !
@boyturnedrobot : Yeah I corrected it in the patch I posted Monday so it was a bit better I think.
@max-s : Thank you for all your advice, I'll try all of this when I'll work on a small post-mortem when I'll find some time!
@joloujed : Yes, you need to __hold__ the Spacebar while you're stopped to grab the garbage. As Akuirako said it maybe lacks of visual feedbacks :)
very fun game! Managed to get to Day 35! :D

The music felt a bit repetetive but besides that this was a solid entry! I really like the idea of this game. :)
Nice game, I liked it! It is nice that speed depends on the amount of garbage you have picked up! Keep up the good work! :smiley:
@awesomealliterationalliance : well done! Thank you, I'm pretty bad at making music, so I always opt for a random generator, keeping refreshing the page until I find something listenable :D
@stefan-jovanovic : Thank you for your feedback :)
Nice game, managed to get to day 34! Could have some nice features, like money to earn, upgrades for the truck, cars on the streets, etc. but a decent entry for a jam! If you want, also check out our game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/baby-boom-balance
@devemil : Cheers, I'll try to implement some of these once I'll have some time to work on it! I'll be sure to have a look on your game tomorrow, looking at the screenshots it looks pretty good :)
Nice entry. I have a lot of fun, i liked how the truck slows down when more garbage has been collected. Maybe you could implement more feedback to the player. Other than, good job doing your first game in unity. :heart:
@edwingamedev : Thanks! I'll definitely do that. :slight_smile:
nice idea :)
@erendis Thanks :)
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D
Who would have thought that collecting trash can be this satisfying.
Nice game! Made it till day 34 :) Really liked the graphics and it is a nice addition that the truck becomes slower when it's carrying more trash ^^!
Like the concept and the graphics remind me like a sim city for SNES or something like that. :D The movement was a bit too fast for me and the eyes had a hard time tracking the levels because everything move too quickly. Because the city is so small, maybe showing everything all at once would be better on the eyes and easier to track.
As for the collisions try using "OnTriggerStay" if you are not using it. Often I find it that the "OnTriggerEnter" can be missed by some frames while the OnTriggerStay works more reliably.
