LD45 — Start with nothing

The Howler by Noa Calice 2019-10-06T23:15:52Z

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, ekhm, I mean, that was intense! Always liked the style of your graphics and this time you definitely did not let me down. With audio provided it was a very wholesome experience, though I can't really call it a nice one :| (the first howl in the intro caught me offguard and scared me sh*tless xD) One thing I want to point out is that I wish there was more to it this time, but surely there was a reason for it. I'd appreciate if you tried my game as well and as a part of shameless promotion I invite you to embrace a challenge I brought upon you in one of my recent yt videos (link down), where I challenge you to "teach as much as possible in 15 minutes". Maybe you could give a few more hints on the art design? Just a loose proposition. Cheers! https://youtu.be/AAtpNYT3NIo?t=1077

Nice idea. But what if I am a loser and don't have a friend? I know that it would take some time but maybe you can try to write an AI component and then I believe the game is nearly publish ready...

Affordable Pet Care by domrein 2020-05-09T00:58:34Z

I liked the game. The graphics are nice, however the most awesome thing is how cute everything appears. And the shake for simulating angry customer? That was just awesome.

Night Keeper by SleepyStudios 2020-05-09T01:02:05Z

The game has a climatic atmosphere that resembles me of Dont Starve. I liked it because of that I guess haha. Anyways the great point is variety of included enemies. Cleverly displayed their HP.

Battery Life by fazz 2020-05-09T00:54:09Z

Very nice game! I am fond of the minimalistic style employing pixel art (I do it myself :D) so thumbs up! The music is atmospheric. Thank you also for mentioning the BeepBox, I dindt know that there is such a useful tool.

Kaoamaru Kaiju by SplitPainter 2020-05-10T11:25:12Z

For a fan of ps1 and silent hill, this one was a blast. Though more interactive film than a game, still was pretty neat experience. Very well thought and made! I hope to see you continue the project.

Friendly Fire by very dark lord 2020-05-10T10:58:33Z

The graphics are very catchy and create this great atmosphere. Also dancing system... come on, that’s awesome!

EXTREME Garden Simulator by VectorWolf 2020-05-09T01:08:42Z

I like the idea and the overall look of the game. There are a few issues though, for example the colliders of the fences are kind of spacey. But all in all very good project! Thumbs up, mate

Protect the Queen! by Clipper 2020-04-20T21:34:44Z

@bloodpulpgames enemies spawn on the verge, but outside the map, meaning that after one turn they move to the most right column. And music was created using Garage Band, I could feel as a DJ/composer for once haha

@gustavo-christino I just can't stress enough how insightful and rewarding your review has been. It is even bilingual! Thank you very much for it. Regarding the matters you mentioned, let me adress a few of them. The screen issue is obviously a matter of UI scaling (bad UI scaling it is) designed for one (mine) resolution and like a tutorial stage it is something I just couldn't implement due to harsh time constraints. I was and still am thinking about enlarging the project with redesigning the game and introducing a lot of new features. The idea of turn-based tower defence is something I was really glad to try, however it requires a lot of thinking. Likewise, the wave system implemented in the current game is quite linear - you get round * 5 ants per round. No different enemies, no different bees, and thus the difficulty level drops significantly after learning the mechanics. When it comes to monetization, I like that you considered a polished/hypothetical final version to be worth buying/selling. I have included a link to my YT channel with a video regarding some insight on making the game, so maybe you can subscribe in case I start working on this game for serious. I just might, but in no less than two weeks time. @spthiel Thanks for the feedback. I know about the rules, but my current situation makes it hard for me to spend a lot of time on rating other games (I dont want to commit numerous rate and run). Anyways I try my hardest. Also you might be interested in the video I made about me making the game itself.

Cheers guys and stay healthy!

@thepiratenun the negative value is not a bug - it was a loan haha JK, thank you for spotting it and for your overall feedback as well!

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-05-10T11:16:47Z

The game looks really good, you have probably put a ton of effort into it. The graphics are astounding and the soundtrack is also well fit (though 3rd party, but nah). I hope to see a full version released for sale!

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-05-10T11:19:48Z

A nice and simple arcade. I like how it is polished and those gems like mating mechanics. Nice. The difficulty goes beyond the roof at some point though, but hey, it is really hard to make a good difficulty curve in such short time. My game for the instance is too easy haha Cheers!
