Very impressive given the time constraint. I really like it!

Very impressive given the time constraint. I really like it!
Surprisingly addicting! Core gameplay seems very polished although the first few levels it practically played itself after finding the first snake :D
Loved it! Very simple yet clever, great execution, nice sfx and over all feel :)
Fun Game, I like the good audio. I got to level 9 :)
Fun game (seemed a bit like candy crush) liked the hexagonal layout and the snakes.
Very cute and addictive! Loved the music choice, what a cute little game!
Nice ! It took me a surprisingly long time to understand what to do (i was trying to move the tiles like in most Match 3 games) but the game was actually fun to play then and quite addictive ! (chain of reaction are really rewarding :p)
Nice music, good sounds. Very satisfying when you get long chain reactions going. I did not fully understand what makes it trigger though. Does it need to fall and be at least 4 long? Sometimes it seemed to be enough with 3. Anyway, great job!
Addicting! However starting at level 6 it too often happens that the lower tiles get clogged up with 2-tile snakes with no hope of removing them which eventually leads to me not finding any possible snakes to select.
@sharploaded Yeah, the line detection algorithm isn't perfect. It should only clear chains of 5 or more, but sometimes it triggers on fewer. That said, I like it when chains keep auto clearing, so I'm going to leave it until after the jam lol. Thanks for the feedback!
@jellyfishhunter Yeah, the algorithm is completely random. If there was more time I could have given it some smarts to make that kinda situation less likely, but it sounds daunting.
Enjoyable little puzzle, an interesting variation on a standard matching game. Had a bit of trouble during my first play through as my eyes were immediately drawn to the red pieces and wanted to see the blue and purple as just background noise. That problem resolved itself though after a few plays. I also did find that the bottom would often get clogged and there was nothing I could do about it.
I always had trouble enjoying candy-crush-like games since it never feels like I'm actually strategizing much, just noticing rows of 3 and getting lucky. That said, the metal sound when clearing rows was pretty satisfying, and I also liked all the little visual details like having the snakes "pulse" in and the little sliding animation between levels.
I really liked this! Snakiessss
Gameplay is simple and intuitive, combos vere satisfying to watch (even if 2st and 2nd level at the riht sucrumtances required like 1-2 connections to fully win just by combos), tho there vere moments where i softlocked by the field not having anything to connect - and belive me, my search skills are above avaerage! and still this field was as good as empty for me
Uh, also amout empty fields- selected some tiles while they were deleating (by combo) and, well- seems like i got deleted with the snakes?(:

Overall a cool game! I can see myself playing it in a queue or on a bus or somerhing (:

Got up to a score of 14530 , yay! snakesleuth.png
It's neat, I like that it lets me continue to clear stuff even while new things are dropping in from the top. Of course new things falling in and automatically clearing combos always feel great :-)
The timer and random tiles provides a good challenge, but sometimes it leads to cases where one is stuck (like in my screenshot). Without a timer it would maybe allow the player to make better choices for better combos, but it would be a different game then. Also I have found myself making similar compromises for game jam games because there often just isn't enough time to provide a more fleshed out balanced experience.
I'm curious of other peoples scores, is anyone able to clear level 10?
@bernhard FWIW, I've managed to clear level 10. I don't have too much of a strategy, I kinda go into a flow state while playing. As other's have noted, luck also plays a huge factor sadly. I think if anything the timer is probably a little too generous, it's long enough you have time to realize you're in an impossible situation lol.
Looking back, it would have been pretty easy to reset the board if there were no moves available. The code for detecting lines is already there for the auto clearing, so a simple check and reset should be fairly trivial. I'll try to throw that in once the jam is over.
I was going to shutdown my PC but I noticed the thumbnail of this game and had to try it. Regrettably, I didn't listen to the game because I had a podcast on but I had to beat level 3 after I started. After a while I finally managed and seems like I got the highscore out of this comment section :D I usually think to stay away these kinds of games because I feel like I wouldn't have a fresh enough take. This game is pretty simple but it feels fresh enough. Pretty cool idea for a puzzler. Sometimes trying to make a line doesn't quite work, but the game isn't that hectic that it would matter much. Good job, I had fun! snake_sleuth.PNG
This is a cool take on a match 3! I like the "multiple layers" thing you've got going on and it's fun when you get a big combo. I also got pretty stuck at one point and was forced to lose -- might be cool to have a situation where it reshuffles the board if you run out of moves.
The game and visual polish is very nice. Nice work!
