this game sucks

cosine 2014-12-08 04:28

For some reason the game started on the third level the first time I played it, but it started on the first level the second time I played it (I had gotten to about level 7 previously).

One thing in particular that bugged me was how often the randomness would be flat out unfair. Sometimes, every sloped piece I got would face the same direction. Other times, placement of the gravity switchers would just be flat out impossible to deal with.

The bare concept is a cool idea, but I would ditch the random generation and put pre-defined levels in their place. Overall not that fun, but there's a lot you can do with the concept.

I love puzzle games, my grandma and use to play them all the time when I was young. Sometimes she would let me cheat and make up my own rules just so I could beat her. Shes dead now. This game has a cool concept but it hasn't been implemented so well. The art looks pretty. Good Work.

dokidoki 2014-12-08 04:51

It is a neat idea, but yeah, the randomness got to me. If I fail a level, I'd like to retry the same configuration if I see what I did wrong. That said, randomization means that if I can't solve one layout, I can probably solve another.

ethproductions 2014-12-08 05:24

It's a pretty nice concept, and the graphics and physics are great. But because the level randomizes itself each time the ball is run, retrying a run is not possible. For me, this takes away some of the fun-ness. I would suggest keeping the blocks in the same place until the level is complete.

mahalis 2014-12-08 05:33

Interesting idea, but as a couple of others have said, the randomized levels mean you only ever get one try at a given configuration. It'd be more fun if it kept the blocks you had in the layout you had them and let you rearrange them to try to get it right.

somfunambulist 2014-12-08 05:34

I really liked it! It's fairly simple, and at times it can be hard to guess what the ball will do, but in general I had a lot of fun!

bkgh 2014-12-08 05:34

Graphics are good, and so are the concept, but the randomness needs to have some tighter restrictions so it's more fair. Sometimes it's just flat out impossible.

daviosmash 2014-12-08 05:35

I like the idea, but it was a bit too harsh to get going! Nice job, either way.

doitle 2014-12-08 05:36

Pretty challenging game concept. There are lots of flash based physics puzzlers on the internet, but I haven't seen one quite like this where the goal is to touch each piece. The fact that you can't do a trial run is tough but maybe you intended to make it difficult like that.

rabbit 2014-12-08 05:36

Retry doesnt actually retry the level but gives me a new puzzle? You arent giving me a chance to learn from my mistakes really.

Also, on level 2, i just couldnt move blocks anymore.

phaax 2014-12-08 05:37

Fun and simple! I think it's ok with random, just set the random seed to generate the same level when you reset. (And have an option to generate a new level perhaps)

kate-kligman 2014-12-08 05:42

I had some issues running it initially on Mac / Chrome, but after using the flash menu option "Show All" I got it working.

Overall, it's a fun puzzle concept, I like the mechanics, and the sound effects mesh well. I'd love to play something like this on a tablet during an early morning commute.

scriptorum 2014-12-08 05:55

I'd like to be able to retry a failed level and some of the blocks were occasionally hard to grab, but overall an enjoyable concept.

t4u 2014-12-08 16:56

I liked the idea but why is it that if you fail you cant repeat a level?

lmt 2014-12-08 20:59

A really nice simple physics game. Nothing more, nothing less. I can see the theme in it but if you asked me what the theme was I would never guess it.

ceosol 2014-12-08 23:25

I love the gameplay. I think it is very unique in a sea of platformers :)
I think would do well post comp. One change is that the ball feels very heavy. With so many straight/sharp edges, some of the random pieces make it impossible to hit all of them. I do like that you kept it all on one screen, but having to scroll down to hit the play button made me miss some of the action up top.

ferraware 2014-12-09 05:08

Pretty cool concept, but I didn't really like the gravity and randomness. I think if the ball moved a tad slower, it would be better. I love the art, keep it up!

mrexcessive 2014-12-10 14:02

Hi there. Not rated yet as game wouldn't load (Chrome/W8.1) The stencyl.com site displayed the page, the progress bar went to the end, but nothing happened... Black rectangle... Shame, was looking forward to after other's comments...

drtizzle 2014-12-10 16:09

Very nice idea, but the resetting and randomising of the levels should be taken out. Just work with predetermined pieces every level.

johnbrynte 2014-12-10 22:37

The game is actually really fun, I enjoyed it! I can't imagine though why you don't let the player replay a level if you fail. It would have been much more fun if you could correct it, as @dokidoki suggested.

demy 2014-12-11 12:44

A pleasant and nice puzzle, i'd like to have it on my phone to kill time. This wooden sound also adds mood to the game.

pjimmy 2014-12-12 16:09

the audio and the visuals are great, the game itself is simple and solid, nice effort

sputnik 2014-12-12 17:28

Nice physic puzzle game

lightsoda 2014-12-12 18:27

Pretty fun, the only thing I didn't quite like was getting random pieces / new level when you failed, because you have to do too much trial and error since you don't really have a sense of how the pieces will affect the speed and trajectory of the ball.

bernhard 2014-12-15 16:20

Huh, I liked it quite a bunch. There seem to be enough levels and ideas in there that I feel it would have been a much better experience if the retry button would just let the player tinker with the placement until he/she can clear the level. The gravity switches and other advanced pieces are pretty cool.

xwarzonex 2014-12-17 02:08

Very addictive. I liked the feel to the game. But like Berhard said, I was you were able to attempt to fix your placements.
