I actually had something similiar in mind at first. Maby with some visualization of progress would help me really get into the game. Overally very nice work, Spreading fire + rose combo op :D!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD45 → Elementary Trouble

@stola Yeah I wanted to make progressive upgrading of the elemental abilities but time really screwed me. I was gone on saturday and had to make this only on sunday. Thanks a lot for the rating and yeah... nature spreads fire, does it not ?
Nice game, it could use some simple UI to show what's the player progress. I think it would also be nice to ramp up the difficulty level gradually, so the player has time to learn how to use different abilities.
I thought the spread fire was the way to go at first but then I think water spray was better because of the speed. Maybe if one elemental power could not damage the enemies of the same color there would be more of an incentive not to just stick to one power. Overall good visuals and interesting concept!
@esenti @bernhard Guys! I wanted to include both the things you suggested but time was an evil mistress this LD. Thanks a lot :fire:
Cool game :)
Cool!
Nice graphics, wasnt sure why I would ever need wind element, when water just takes them all out or fire!
@anion-z The game would need a lot more balancing and I wanted to make the elemental abilities level up by killing its element. You are right that wind is not that useful but sadly I didn't manage to complete the game how I wanted this time :slight_frown: Thank you for your rating and comment ! :wind_blowing_face:
I like the shape of the characters, but I would have prefer to move in a map rather than a single screen  . Same goes for the hp : why only one ? I had fun anyway so keep on coding ^^
The enemies and the player sprites/meshes look pretty. The game itself doesn't convey much information, I can't know how many enemies I took down (except for when I get their power up), I can't know which elemental skill is currently active, and death is instant, and restarts the game immediately, with no break or feedback or result screen. If someone doesn't read the description (which people often don't) they won't know quite a few key things like the fact that there are power-ups and how to use them, things like this should be clearly conveyed in-game.
There isn't much of a goal, either (unless there's an end state I couldn't reach) and there aren't scores which could spark a competitive spirit.
So this game has a solid foundation, but lacks things that would make this foundation enjoyable. I hope you make a post-jam update!
@sir-galloy-de-fierpate When I was thinking what kind of game I should make I thought about it being an FPS and you wold have to run around the map which is all 3D btw and destroy the sources of the elements. They would have like 500hp and when you take down a certain amount, your elemental power will upgrade but the certain type of enemy would spawn much quicker. And your hp would increase as well. But since I was away whole saturday I could only spend about 8 hours on the game so I had to scrap a lot of ideas. Thanks a lot for your comment I really appreciate all the feedback :wind_blowing_face: :fire: :droplet: :sunflower: :hearts:
@catusfelony I am definitely thinking about an post LD update I hope I will manage to find time for it  And you are right, the game is unfinished. When I had an hour left until the deadline I didn't even think the game would be playable but somehow I managed to finish at least that :slight_frown: I thought about not publishing the game at all but right before the deadline I decided otherwise  Thank you for this super long comment! You are awesome! :hearts:
