Congrats on build the engine, that takes some gut, it's looking really good.

Congrats on build the engine, that takes some gut, it's looking really good.
I really like the pixel art, and the shadows are a nice touch. I thought I'd get quite annoyed of having to sacrifice my health to fire, but the ability to regenerate it from coins/killing enemies makes it a pretty fun juggling act. Until you get the force field, that is. The lack of sound is a pity, but what's here is really neat.
And this is your own engine!? Whaaat!?
I feel that your game fits the theme extremely well and i applaud you for that. The graphics are pleasing to the eye as well. I do feel however that the controls are quite finicky. I would have loved to use wasd as controls but overall it isn't a huge problem.
Amazing game, i liked this mechanics of exchange hp for mana. Remember me snes goof and trooper. Great work, congrats.
Guess I should have checked my game's name before submitting. This is mine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/bloodmage-1 I wondered why it has a '-1' in the url. So here I am. Just like you I used my homebrew engine. So many coincidences :joy:
Your game looks really good, I'll try and rate it once I'm home from work
Really liked the art and I'm impressed you wrote this engine from scratch during the jam with line-of-sight and everything. I made it to the second floor but quickly perished >_<
