I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Eventually I figured I could grab rocks and throw them but they didn't seem to hit anything and having rocks crash into the cat didn't seem to have any effect either. What is the goal? What is the peril?

It needs instructions. It was not clear that the frog is supposed to land on the 'button' I though he was supposed to reach the outside. It also needs a better way to see where the exit is. When in an outer loop you are travelling so fast that the exit goes flying past way to quickly to respond

Where is the peril? There are no objects or enemies to avoid and no clear objective of what should be done to achieve success. Also the camera is off when the robot falls you can't see where he is going and where to land him. Nice robot graphics though.

Maybe I'm too old but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I was stuck in the bottom third of the screen with little to no control of the player and no obvious goal.

It could REALLY benefit from some shadows beneath the coins to give a better idea of where they are in the world. Especially so for the ones in the air that you have to jump for. They are way to easy to miss because their positions are not obvious. Also needs some kind of peril to make it a real game. At the moment you just keep going until boredom forces you to quit. Even the basic shapes that 'block' the path in later loops don't actually block you, you can just walk into them and they move without affecting the player.

The infinite points thing - yes, you are right. I hadn't really thought about that. I like the idea of get XXX points in ### time that would make a good level. But the non-regeneration of runes in order to make the levels more difficult is actually there now, you just have to get to a high enough level.
