great game! could have used some sound, but otherwise very well made

@xenon27 there is sound but yes, definitely needs more.

A really cool mechanic! The graphics are adorable as well - I love the lil dwarf friends. The way forward at the beginning of the game could be marked a little clearer - I somehow ended up on the outside of the level the first time I played. But once I worked that out (you go through the gap in the trees), I really enjoyed the game.

Ahah loved it! Really enjoyed how it kept reinventing itself by changing mechanics (landmines, guns, etc etc)

This is a game I didn't know I wanted. Elfs huddled around a present avoiding [spoiler] and shooting [spoiler] is an amazing idea. That alone makes me love this game. Graphically quite nice, all I'd say is it could use some background music. Also it looks like if you go right at the beginning you can just go off into the middle of nowhere. Great job!

@lvidusk @rex64 @bradyg haha yes, I completely forgot about walling off the bottom. Thanks for the comments!

Funny concept, bit challenging. A few things: * First playthrough I went up and left, didn't realise for ages that there was a neverending wall of trees. * I feel like you should be able to use the corpses and bullets to detonate mines, and bullets shouldn't be blocked by corpses. * Once the present isn't within the group of elves, it becomes much harder to control. * Game ends with one dwarf remaining, instead of no dwarves.

Awesome game! I had lot of fun playing it!

Always a fan of the low-poly, desaturated color aesthetic. And I like the mechanics as well! Particularly the fact that friendly fire exists.

The only nitpicks I have are the mentioned fact that you can walk outside the play area and I wish the enemies had some sort of windup/anticipation action when attacking.

But overall, great work!

Liked it a lot! As others said, it is very easy to go to the left or to the right at the beginning. At first I went right and up, and met nothing untill the game said that I won. It was confusing and for the second I thought that this is it. Fortunatelly I read comments here and tried one more time, the actual game is really fun! I think you should create another build with walls at the beginning. Rules allow to fix game breaking bugs after jam end and I think this is it.

Pretty look, but the road ahead is hard. A very good game. :)

Concept and interpretation of the theme is amazing but the gameplay execution... from where do i start? at the beginning i without knowing for about half minute left the map by just going left ( or right ). I didnt know i had a gun because the text happend to pop for no time ( border of the hitbox or something ). You just cannot avoid 1st mine and thats annoying as fuck... i know teaching the player but bruh everyone knows what landmine does it's piggy banking knowledge : P Inputs are super unprecise and clunky which doesn't help at all with avoiding the landmines or controling the chain of dwarfs. So in few places it's just more fun and easier to get killed than trying to dodge the landmines because dodging is unfun and tedious. You can also complete the game by going outside the borders. BUT the visuals are super cool for eyes! Sounds are simple but do the job. It's good game that just needs a bit more love : ) Nice entry!

Interesting control mechanic and like the premise. Dig the music, it gave me nostalgia for old DOS games. Unfortunately I was not skilled enough to finish it :( that last boss is hard!

jonrei 2020-10-18 15:06

im not sure what happened. I think I won by walking all the way up on the outside of the map to the right? I just walked upwards along a line of trees until the game ended atleast

There's a lot to love about this entry. I do have a few notes, though.

For one, I would highly advise adding some invisible walls to the outer edges of the map. I walked downwards for roughly a minute before turning back. I'm a massive hypocrite for stating this one, but I would recommend giving a better tooltip for the gun-- I had no idea the mouse was used in gameplay at first, and didn't understand how to fight back on my first run. Otherwise, my main issue comes from the fact that a lot of the enemies are rather ignorant. I was able to successfully circle around the boss without triggering the AI until I tried to actually reach a gap in the forest.

All in all, I found this to be a very fun mechanic that was rather polished, and both the artwork and the dark humor added a lot to this entry. I enjoyed my time with it, but as some others have stated, both the mines and enemies could benefit from some additional QoL tweaks. I think you're really onto something here, and the potential's definitely there for a post-jam release of some sort.

Really good looking game and interesting concept! I wish I could pick up elves along the way to replace the ones I had lost.
