Much better theme than Candy Crush :) ... since the rest aren't implemented I just focused on warp and speed. Finished the game, but when I chose 'home' it seemed to lock up. This might be the 2nd known issue you're talking about.
Overall a really solid game, especially considering the time constraints. I wasn't too sure I followed how the theme fit in. Maybe the other ships are catching up to you and you're "running out of space"?
I don't very much enjoy the general match 3 games, but I thought this was actually amusing as it's more of a speed matching game. Overal good entry! :ok_hand:
Classic concept, but managing resources while playing a match 3 game is a nice idea. Would not need much to have a much better feeling: some more feedback when the player interacts with the game and maybe bring their attention to the ships at the top of the screen from time to time. :ok_hand:
fun idea, I'd like some other way that I could directly interact with the top board (my spaceship) I found my focus just 100% on the gemboard and I never really had to look up. I was just matching whatever I could and won. Great job though
Not usually a fan of Match-3 games, but this works really well. I was paying more attention to the board than how things affected the ship (while remaining aware that the goal was to get as many blue Warp gems as possible). One of the more addictive games I've seen for this jam. Nice job!
I was definitely really focused on the gemboard. Then I realized that warp 100 would win the game. Even after getting that I didn't win? Confused.
Some thoughts: Maybe turn-based would work better? So you sorta have to strategize your next move, and after your move the enemy shoots you and your resources are depleted. Also, I wish the gems had the shifting down animations when you make a match!
All in all, I really liked the concept. It's a fun game overall! Good job!
Classic match 3, I found it difficult to see the resolution of the matches, the swap is clear, but the matches could really do with some spacing in their timing so that you can see how the columns shift. I wasn't all that careful with my strategy and still ended up winning, by doing random matching so I think there's some balance tweaks that could turn this into something quite fun and challenging.
Interesting idea! The match 3 part was really well done, maybe just a bit more feedback on matches/new pieces would be helpful.
I did run into a few bugs with the selection colour of pieces. I tried a few wrong moves and the pieces didn't unhighlight themselves. And then I noticed that I later got one of those staying-highlighted pieces in a match and another piece reappeared that was highlighted :P
Overall good job, the animations look cute in the simulation/top part.
Some bugs: - My hull and shields hit zero but I still won. - When I won I hit "home" and the game froze.
Some animations in the dropping of tiles would be great. And the implementation of weapons and power also.
I enjoyed it. The music is cool and the graphics are clean.
I like the clean aesthetics. The game was a little too easy, as I never really felt any sense of urgency. Maybe warnings when something is low, or more feedback when your ship is damaged.
Could use some more polish, but i think this is a great concept.
Pros: - Really clever idea combining bejeweled with a "typing game" style space chase. - The music and visuals all looks pretty good ___ Cons: - It was a little difficult to keep track of all of the different numbers on the screen while playing. - Kinda buggy (difficult to deal with this issue in 3 days so pretty understandable) ___ Overall great concept; I thought it was really cool. Keep it up :)
Somehow I won even when my hull reached zero?
Could use some sound effects when the shield gets damaged.
I got the same glitch as @sarah, any time I made a wrong move the piece would stay highlighted and sometimes it would refuse to let me do a correct move afterwards. It's possible this is a feature - you're running out of selection space on the game board - but it needs to be better telegraphed. Other than that, this looks like a solid game. Just needs some bug-fixing.
good match 3 I played with pleasure
I would definitely play a match 3 game about flying a space ship. With some more depth to the mechanics I think it could be really cool. I also thought the music was quite fun :)
This is cool! It liked the audio and visuals. A simple, easy game done well :)
Very cool game!
"Combine two incompatible genres" ;)

Your twist is a nice addition to the match 3. Always nice to see a Godot entry as well.
loved the race concept, felt very panicked making matches. nice work!
Fun game, I'm a sucker for Tetris Attack style games, so this was right up my alley.
Linking the matching game to the various ship systems is an interesting choice. It adds an extra layer of strategy to a standard tile matching mechanic, but I wonder if some different tile images would help decipher things at a glance more easily. Like weapons could be a little missile, and shields could be a little semi-transparent circle, and speed could be green chevrons like >>>, etc... Then the player wouldn't need to refer back to the 'key' as often to make choices.
Also, I found myself focusing in so much on the matching, that I couldn't watch the action with the ships in the top section. Not sure how to address that though, I probably just need to git gud.
There's a lot of promise in this if it gets some further polish and enhancements. Great work!
Nice entry! As one of the comments above said, you don't really need to pay attention to what's going on with the ship, just match a variety of shapes and you'll eventually win. This concept is certainly an interesting variation of the match-three genre, I'd love to see this expanded. Overall great work!
Fun match 3 action, but it feels like its missing some essential elements of match 3, for instance, combo moves, as the pieces don't collapse but just disappear in one shot which doesn't help to convey how they are built up. Would be nice to be able to click and drag rather than make it two separate clicks for the match 3 to happen. Getting all 100 warp squares also doesn't net a win immediately. Some sound fx to accompany the matching would be cool too.
As others have said, I didn't really look at the spaceship half of the screen after a few seconds into the game. Maybe if matching needed to be timed to action in the top half, ie. matching shields gives a shields that only lasts a few seconds so would need to be timed to when missiles are coming at you?
Cool Match 3! As others have said. It doesn't have the some of the other match 3 components that help spicy up the gameplay, and the ship aspect is doesn't seem as fleshed out comparatively. I would try to add more interactivity to the ship aspect, instead of it being fully automated.
A very polished Match 3. The bouncy animation and smoothness is great. There are a lot of numbers to be aware of, but I think that's what you were going for. I thought it was pretty great. Good job!
A great game, lots of polish. The music is good and creates a nice mood. I did managed to find a bug where everything got highlighted red when I clicked them, but the mechanics still worked so not much of a problem.
Good luck! 8)
Nice match 3 game! It take me a while to see how the combos were affecting the game play up top- but I could see my stats increasing and so. Since there aren't weapons or power, it does make it less exciting, but it's seems like it would be a good setup, especially with various enemies and maybe new kinds of blocks. I did run out of shield pretty fast and had 0 hull, but I didn't die, so I was able to beat it haha. Keep up the good work and nice job!
Nice take on match 3, took me a while to realise it is a match 3 because there are no chain reaction animatin yet. Could get really interesting if you push it further
Loved this and see a lot of potential. Very engaging. I'd like to see this one on a mobile platform when all the bugs are worked out.
Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42
Cool twist on the theme, and I really like the idea of tying in different gems in a match 3 game to stats like this. Too bad more of them aren't implemented, as there's a lot of potential here that doesn't quite get realized by having half of the gems not really do anything. Would love to see a post-jam version that had more of the mechanics fleshed out!
Nice game, but Some falling animations for the pieces would have been nice.
Nice work!
