I'm really curious where this is going to go - a little feedback on how well attacks are landing, as well as perhaps easing the player into the goal of the game would help make sense of what is going on?
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD52 → Essence Regulation

That scared the **** out of me! I'm not sure what happened next, I think I died but I don't know why. In fact sometimes I just re-spawned out of the blue and it was kind of frustrating. I bet the enemies sneaked from behind and got me, but I can't be sure.
Yea it is definitely missing alot in the "what is happening" category. Kinda feels like this lmao 4c0a2w.jpg
@salmonmoose I kinda just kept adding player mechanics and it indeed does get overwhelming to get hit by it all at once. Would be good to have a lead up tutorial to limit the abilities as you get the feel for them. There was someone that played through it without using any of the spells cause they didnt know about them already lol
@lex Getting hit just reloads the map so you can keep playing. I was wanting to implement a damage type system but got behind and just settled with "you get hit you die" approach at the last minute. It does cause alot of confusion when they sneak up on you lol
Thank you both for giving it a play and the reviews!
even though it may seems like there isn't much to do in the game(i was doing parkours btw), but kudos to the dev for developing the FPS mechanics, radar etc in such time constraint.
Pretty neat game, could have done with more sounds and a little more information I never really understood why I should be using anything other than the pistol or what the Vestige thing actually was. I also did managed to get all the cubes without ever having to shoot, also the jump-scare got me pretty good haha
Good job creating this solo in a weekend!
The game looks very good and pretty scary I was please, no, please no (Jaja suspense kills me), the level design it is very well done as well.
It is true that is missing a bit of context, but what? doing this in a weekend it is impressive :) Good job, I really want to see your upcoming games :)
Happy new year!!
As you already know, trying to do something of this scope is maybe a bit much for compo. Definitely a lot of feedback lacking (like what ability do I have selected). I don't remember everything I had feedback on -- you watched the stream! Congrats on getting something playable in the time frame, though!
Fun game ! It was a little too dark and i had to use my pistol to light the way sometimes. Good level design. Very challenging, getting the source was fine but escaping was hard !
I absolutely loved this game and FPS games always have a special place in my heart. The Bell Biv Devoe easter egg was a great little touch.
Thanks for letting me play this!
Here's the VOD, split into chapters so you should be able to find your section! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hMhAX_Rgg8
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream!
Here’s the start of your game if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts youtu.be/_eTFfxJO2YM?t=5233
Enjoyed the atmosphere of the game, felt pretty spooky! Feels like a very solid foundation if you wanted to extend into a post jam game. As people have commented, some more feedback for the player would have been useful (i.e. which power is selected?, am I hitting the orbs when shooting?, what did I die to?) Perhaps cutting down the mechanics for future jams might help (for example I think the crouch mechanic, the mana system, and reloading might not have been necessary).
Loved the sfx too, as you saw I was pretty terrified by the sound when the last source was collected! Congrats on the great entry!
Felt pretty confused about what was happening in the game, especially with the powers. It seemed like I could only use Diffuse once, and I couldn't tell when I was being hit.
Those orbs were incredibly menacing for an inanimate object, very funny to walk around a corner and have one staring at you. A little difficult to tell which power was selected. The limited flashlight range added to the suspense and the sound when you collected all of the vistages was spooky af.
Great entry!
This was okay little game, but for me it also felt a bit unfinished.
sheesh you implemented a lot of player features. Would've been interesting to see this kinda game made for the "extra" ruleset so you have time to actually work with all the features you have some more.
You've got the bones of something here! With some iteration on the core idea (for example, what kind of game do you want it to be?), this could become something great!
For example, the vestigals weren't all that threatening, as they had predictable paths. I made it through without using my special abilities. In that same vein, shooting them wasn't really a necessity. And maybe you meant it that way, to encourage me to use the abilities. Then why have the gun? That's just an example of tuning mechanics so that the player _must_ use them, otherwise I may not play the game like you envisioned.
Thanks for the submission! Great job getting all this done!! I hope you keep working on it.
