Kinda reminds me of an old Gameboy game I made, Egg Racer :D
It is a nice fast avoider game. A score counter would be nice! Simple but fun :)

I'm not sure about changing the speed of the player during the game, though. Well, it's interesting, really, but not like this. Maybe it could be cool to something apearing on the screen, like Bonus pills that makes you go faster, and also the reverse? Would make that mechanic way more interesting I think! What you think? :)
Anyway it's quite good for something made really quickly (I'm in college too right now, I know what it is :p ), I hope you learned a lot and enjoyed it :)

Constructive feedback: IMHO, it would be better if the game could inform what the current event (as in half speed, faster or more eggs) is. This would give a few seconds for the player to prepare itself.
Also, I thought the score counter did not work properly. A high score feature would also be cool.
Other than this, nice job! :D
