LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

P.Rick Airious by asobi tech 2014-12-10T20:47:00

Creative use of one screen constraint :) It is something that easily could be played on short bursts so maybe if you will be expanding the idea try mobile platforms ?

The Mosquito Effect (mosquito simulator) by 01rafael 2014-12-27T10:32:00

Really neat idea for a game :) Definetly something I would like to see developed further :D

Screen invader by Poxymyr 2014-12-25T10:03:00

Simple but fun idea :) It would be nice if you would add power ups etc. in the future. And if you would allow to chose key scheme that would also be nice :P I'm from european country (Poland) but we use here qwerty keyboard scheme.

Punch Squad by Sos 2014-12-13T17:47:00

Great music (percussion sounds like from trackers for amiga old dos pc :D) and I like "crude" pixel art graphics (reminds me of playing shareware games when I was younger :)).
Can't get my head around controlling characters but it is still fun. My only complaint is that everybody should have awesome mustache like Jake.

Screen Mover by Sh1rogane 2014-12-18T17:33:00

I can't emphasize how cool this mechanic is :D Really neat idea and something I would like to see developed further.

Down The Rabbit Hole by cxsquared 2014-12-13T21:31:00

As others mentioned music with mellow gameplay creates very interesting atmosphere. I really like graphics style on second screen :D I noticed that on one repetition main player character changed color to pink :) Does something controls it or is it at random ?

Isiphudi by hbocao 2014-12-13T21:46:00

Really great game considering the short time of ludum dare :) I liked variety of enemies. It would be nice to indicate somehow the statistics of weapon because it is hard to determine which weapon will be better, but maybe I just need to play a little more.

Screen War by sfdnetwork 2014-12-16T16:37:00

Really interesting idea and usage of one screen constraints. I think that it could really benefit from adding two player mode.

Bomber by xaedes 2014-12-13T21:56:00

Nice graphics syle. I think it could benefit a lot with added multiplayer. Also great improvment in post compo version, loved the acapella song :D

One Screen For Worlds by danidre14 2014-12-16T16:31:00

Game can be very challening but it is still possible to beat so balance here for me is good :) And good choice of music :D My only complaint would be that graphics are small (I'm playing on 15 inch screen laptop) but without this it probably would be hard to fit in theme :P

SQUISH AND BOUNCE by waveformmodulations 2014-12-16T17:17:00

Nice graphics stylization and are those bass guitar sounds when you move left or right ? :D

Bathyal Commodore by BubbleChien 2014-12-10T21:30:00

really neat idea with the sonar. And it runs without problem in firefox and loads fast so this will definetly help to gather more players :)

Fire Tactics by MechanicMoon 2014-12-18T17:45:00

I liked the graphics and idea. And really good idea with putting tutorial so player can know how to play a game (a lot of people including myself forget to put obvious stuff like this in games ;)) I would just maybe replace music with some rocking chiptune :D

Boom Blade Battle Brigade by Riocide 2014-12-16T16:42:00

Overall very polished game for something created for game jam :) I loved that you could use your own bombs to speed travel. I think that it is definetly worth developing this game further.

Mad Elves by KeyboardCat 2014-12-18T17:27:00

Despite the fact that you're claiming that you're no pixel artist I think graphics look really fine :) At first I could understand how to shoot so maybe a little explanatory at start of game would be helpful but at the end I found how to shoot myself so it is not something tragic :D

Swotch by Ulydev 2014-12-27T10:39:00

Really great game especially for something done in 48 hours. I love graphics astethics, but music is nice too (it adds a lot of energy to the game). For me it would be a great game even if done by someone twice of your age so keep up a good work :)

GTFO by semdog 2014-12-16T16:55:00

Wow, very nice lightening and particle effects :) Nice combination of shooting and building stuff with gravitron :D I would just maybe added a button to fast forward to next wave so when someone has his base build etc. he wouldn't have to wait

I don't like Sectors by RonnyEGT 2014-12-13T21:34:00

Nice graphics and music :) As everyone mentioned game is hard but not impossible and I think that with practice high scores are possible :D I think that it would fit on mobile platforms because it can be played on short sessions.

Wanda by mahalis 2014-12-10T20:55:00

At first it was hard to controll but after a while it was fun to make "tricks" in air by itself :)

Shapes by PigeonsFromOuterSpace 2014-12-10T19:56:00

@asobitech thank you :)
@mechalis at first I wanted to exclude shooting but without it was almost impossible to kill an enemy so I finally added it. I hope I will not miss start of next jam and will have a little more time.
@Random crash is kind of weird because it started to occur after I added splash screen, but it was hard to pinpoit exactly what was going wrong. Generally on the next game jam I will probably try Unity, because writting everything myself using java and proessing generates a lot of overhead.

Shapes by PigeonsFromOuterSpace 2014-12-10T20:59:00

of course I meant @BubbleChien not @Random, sorry for that :)

Shapes by PigeonsFromOuterSpace 2014-12-13T17:09:00

@xaedes I have been playing guitar for some years so rules applied hear are my own and to be honest I don't know about any literature about procedural music generation besides the one paper I saw yesterday on reddit -> https://www.academia.edu/9696759/Computoser_-_rule-based_probability-driven_algorithmic_music_composition but from what I see this paper covers most fundamental topics.
And yes I agree that I should do something with shooting because currently game ends too fast too hard :P

Shapes by PigeonsFromOuterSpace 2014-12-18T17:19:00

@crazyrems Unfortunetly the game won't start in java older than 8 because I used stuff like streams api etc. so porting it to older versions of java would require code changes.

Spacebank Heist by BoxedMeatRevolution 2014-12-27T10:49:00

I had fun playing your game :D I liked that you could escape any time you wanted because that created mechanic were you had to decide should you try to collect some more money (but could fail and die) or double the amount you currently have. And having high score in game is a nice throwback to times when games would compete who could get the highest score :D
