LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Rats Under My Skin by Gregory Avery-Weir 2014-04-28T19:36:00

Probably not a virus? Because this is a new, little-downloaded program, many virus scanners will mark it as suspicious. Are you seeing any evidence of infection, or is your virus scanner just warning you?

Rats Under My Skin by Gregory Avery-Weir 2014-04-29T18:19:00

@baykush_figtree: The terrain started as a high-poly mesh in Blender. We shaped it with the Sculpt tools and then applied a Decimate modifier to drop its poly count. There's probably a better way to do it, but it worked and was fast. :)

Rats Under My Skin by Gregory Avery-Weir 2014-04-30T01:45:00

@CMaster, I totally agree... that was the thing I was working on near the deadline. I'm clumsy enough with Unity that I couldn't get it working right.

Underbelly by Sink 2014-04-29T00:10:00

I'm a sucker for pixelly platformers, although I found this one really frustrating in parts! It's hard!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Mossnaso by Mase 2014-12-10T02:13:00

This is awesome! I love the look and sound and mood. I ran out of jaggy far from a pool and touching things took away my wavy. The perspective makes the shooting pretty weird, and it was often unclear when things were colliding. I want to see a polished version of this very bad.

Good choice not including the "theme" category.

Promenade by Gregory Avery-Weir 2014-12-09T03:44:00

datachomper, you should be able to move around with the arrow keys after the train whistle dance. If not, something is broke.

Kate, I think we've got some issues around streaming/preloading. I was able to wait a while and get the web player to start. We'll try and upload a fix tonight.

Promenade by Gregory Avery-Weir 2014-12-10T02:25:00

We've fixed the loading issue. The web player should now play and the play button on it should work!

Victory, there's a full ending; you should be able to follow the blue arrows to get there. Once you have the golden fiddle you can return home to your town.

Missing Picture by ToadieTechnika 2014-12-09T05:54:00

I love this! I wish it were more forgiving. Having more than one strike before I'm out would make it so much more playable. But the look, the mood, and the use of the theme are great!

The Broken Seeing Glass by Linear 2014-12-10T02:04:00

I really like this one! It's visually awesome, and I think it's a good way of representing the theme beyond the obvious. It's awkward to move around and the combat bugs make it frustrating, but I still got pretty far. I really like the seeing glass effect.

Boagie Dodge by Boracho 2014-12-09T03:06:00

I almost rated you low for theme until I got the joke! I actually like the wall jumping, although the movement's a bit sluggish for the precision required. And one-hit-kill is rough!

SnoZonE by Fortyseven 2014-12-09T05:48:00

Pretty! The sounds felt a bit repetitive, but I really liked the tilty nature of the movement. Good choice not entering in the "theme" category.

Dread Keep by Frump 2014-12-09T05:58:00

This is really good looking! I like the fast zippy controls. I was able to rush right through to the end of each level by rushing past enemies, though; this would be great with tighter combat and some challenge to the levels. Cute use of theme but it's a bit of a cheat. :)

Kevin's uncommon story by Zimennik 2014-12-09T03:24:00

Good way of incorporating the theme! The block shifting seems very smooth. I don't have any big criticisms (except for the spelling! :) ). This feels like a game you could totally polish and flesh out into something bigger.

Louai Munajim by digibody 2014-12-09T03:29:00

I love the movement. I want to play a hockey game with this movement. Finish it post-jam! :D

Coloring by RevoluGame 2014-12-09T06:04:00

I like it! A good interpretation of a new classic concept. With how much trouble I had, I bet the game's hell for someone with colorblindness. Symbols on the blocks would have been an enormous help. Theme was technically met.

Hell: Redemption by samfreeman05 2014-12-09T03:11:00

Playing this game feels like being in hell. Which is appropriate, I guess! I like the retro single-screen look and you did very well at getting that masocore extra-frustration gameplay. I feel like a bit more forgiveness on jumping up through 1-tile-wide gaps would have been nice. Cute look into a sisyphean quest.

Johnny Snow VS Hot Stuff by theomg 2014-12-09T02:55:00

Cute! I like everything about it but the movement, which was awkward enough that I couldn't get a handle on the game.

Hoarder by Gigawicket 2014-12-09T03:02:00

I really appreciated the different kinds of dragons. I don't think the fire one is boring at all.

There's a lot of slickness in this one. You really took a simple concept and polished it up.

Rainbow-Maze by grid96 2014-12-10T02:18:00

I love the look of this! It screams ZZT or old DOS shareware. I think you did a good job of using the theme.

I did ragequit in level 3. A combination of the gradual acceleration, low friction, and bouncy walls made moving around under any time constraint too frustrating even though in the previous two levels I was longing to get the maze done faster. This with different movement physics would be very nice.

starfall by datachomper 2014-12-09T02:45:00

A solid click-things game! It's simple but the execution is nice and smooth.

Morrok by Neiler 2014-12-10T01:17:00

Good looking and it totally fits the theme. Movement is a bit awkward; the way you stick to walls doesn't feel right.

Grandpa's Grid by NoGrapes 2014-12-09T03:17:00

I love it! It's fun, I like the shop tradeoff concept, and I think this did just great with the theme. I like your art! The audio was the only part I felt fell short.
