Really clever interpretation of "depth". I'm not the biggest point-and-click fan, but that was entertaining, and not too hard to figure out the sequence. Kudos for the unusual game development setup too!

munmungames 2025-04-07 07:51

Very well executed ! I think a little clue could have help ("click to interact" or something), because at first I didn't understand why you couldn't just shoot at the sniper on the roof ! Love the music and art, the dialogues audio and UI can become a bit annoying ! That was before I realized it didn't block the gameplay, but a way to speed up / close dialogs manually would be better for user experience :) Anyway, nice entry, good job !

manabreak 2025-04-07 12:08

Nice take on the theme, and super cool that you used accessibility tools to make this! I managed to eliminate the target. :)

mcramon 2025-04-07 15:56

Really clever theme interpretation, game looks nice too. Partner dialog windows getting repeated over and over were a little annoying and distracting though. Other than that, excellent submission, good job!

phlip45 2025-04-07 18:08

Really nice use of the theme. For compo the game is visually stunning. I think the solutions to the problems didn't make much sense. Does our sniper friend have telekinesis? I'll listen to the MST3K Mantra though, haha. Again, really impressive for compo!

sarellano 2025-04-07 18:40

10/10. I loved how you approached the theme, it was very clever and overall it made me feel like I was a spy of some sorts. Loved that this is a simple mechanic with a great twist and the prompts are really useful to figure out what to do next. The art is great and the music completely matches the mood of the game. Congrats!

onngd 2025-04-07 23:11

nice job

firellon 2025-04-08 11:22

Haha, what a lovely idea :)

I'd love the focus to be a bit more of an important mechanic, though, the game is still very solid. Great job!

ilinx 2025-04-08 13:53

Super cool! nice concept, good writing, overall solid entry!

benski 2025-04-08 15:58

Great submission!

- Very unique theme interpretation and mechanic

- Feels well packaged and functional

A bit of crit:

- The dialogue threw me off a bit. Personally, I wished for either a more "professional sniper" dialogue or something completely non-sensical. This felt like the middle between them and didn't connect with me.

dstoc 2025-04-09 05:47

Managed to get through it! Was also a bit confused what to do at first. At first I didn't like that you could retrigger the same dialogue, but it makes some sense now.

Congrats, excellent composition.

iovorobiev 2025-04-09 18:27

I love this! Mechanics with focus is really fun, clear and easy to grasp. The point-a-click part was done clever, and although I usually have problems with discovering what to click in such games, but didn't have it in this one.

I wish there were more levels, I'd definitely play this if this was a full game. Thanks for the experience!

jeremyfa 2025-04-10 11:32

I completed the mission! It's a really good take on the depths theme using 2D. The blurring on different layers works really well too! Impressive job overall

tenzz 2025-04-10 17:48

Really nice game concept. I personally really like how things gradually get blurry when they're not in focus. It's an interesting and clever take on the theme

aleksey-salion 2025-04-11 19:33

It's funny and clever — well done!

jovialknoll 2025-04-12 05:36

Interesting and innovative mechanics, great implementation of the look.

The repeating hints became a little unfortunate when I was struggling to get the timing right on clicking the bird.

loveapplegames 2025-04-12 09:15

Very original take on the theme! Also good-looking and polished. I would have liked clearer feedback when I click on something.

ryusui 2025-04-12 17:39

Always down for a good point-and-click. I loved the interpretation of "depth" as in "focal depth" - one screen, but multiple layers. I hope you expand on this in the future!

cresceda 2025-04-13 11:52

This is a really cute game with an interesting and clever interpretation of the theme! I like the use of different layers, I think you could make a broader game out of it! I miss click/adventure games :').

oadt 2025-04-13 13:26

Oh wow, very cool entry! Nice work on the focus effect. The story was short but good with some nice ideas for interactions. Great work!

atsh 2025-04-13 15:03

One of my favorite games so far! I loved everything - the pixel art, the animations, the music, the really original interpartation fo the theme, and the sequence of events was funny

Initially I was confused on we can't just take out the other sniper - in hindsight I guess it's so to not scare the other guy. On my first playthrough I had to randomally click on stuff sometimes to make the game progress. It's always tough to setup the context of point and click games, and not make them too easy or too difficult.

On my second playthrough everything was much more logical - at this point I mainly want more of this stuff - very original idea and very well done

gdman 2025-04-14 22:04

Great Point-adventure game with unfolding story, superb graphics and depth-of-field mechanics! Liked your game. Not sure what event caused weather shift, but it helped a lot.

dhim 2025-04-15 19:00

Seems lovely, but the sensibility of the mac trackpad mouse scroll is to high. a sensitivity setting or alternate control would be nice.

I'll try again tomorrow with the help of a external mouse!

Edit: I just saw that you did all of that without your hands, and I am complaining about sensitivity of the controls...

Nice to see you have used github during the development process of the game. I have starred and added your repository to a list of ld57 compo : https://github.com/stars/dhmmasson/lists/ludum-dare-57-compo

Consider adding a readme to your repositories with a link to your entries, I have created badges for the readme that you can use: ``` Ludum Dare Ludum Dare ```

Consider using these **topics** to make your Ludum Dare entry more discoverable: - `game` - `game-development` - `ludum-dare` - `ludumdare` - `ludumdare57` - `ludum-dare-57` - `ld57`

Very cool - maybe every person will have their own experience with this aspect, but for me the time spent puzzling out the next step was just right, same for the overall mission length. I won't give spoilers but the first important step took me a bit because I thought I had done it without a reaction, but fortunately the game hinted strongly enough that I returned to the idea and progressed.

Game was charming and didn't overstay its welcome. Nice well-rounded entry delivering across all the categories.

...

The no-hand-use, quite a constraint, very cool that you've set up tools to make it work. I've tinkered with Cursor a bit lately. It's a mixed bag but it does translate natural language into code changes in a reasonable way. I see people claim they set up voice software and just talk at it, I'm curious what that experience would be like.

designernap 2025-04-16 12:49

Well, I got the man to move, threw a tennis ball at the dog and then was stuck! Haven't managed to finish it and the looping music drove me crazy! :D But otherwise, this is a really nice take on the theme and well put together. Solid entry!

olddog 2025-04-17 10:19

this game idea is amazing!!!!!!love this game design and art style so much!! wish for more levels to play, the game ends so short

island-jam-2-group-3 2025-04-17 13:12

Original take on the theme! Nice one :-)

leoatopos 2025-04-18 04:45

What can I say. Precisely a good game. Congrates!

snory 2025-04-18 12:12

Great take on the theme! I took me some time to realize what I have to do and that this is a puzzle game but once I realized, oh boy, i was searching and thinking.

Thanks

chiyeon 2025-04-20 02:50

Very clever use of the theme! Thanks for also checking out my game :)

Very polished, especially considering the additional constraints. Overall game was simple but effective in theme and presentation, art style & sound was very polished, and adjusting focus between planes was very satisfying & nice to look at. It was great to see a 2D interpretation of depth of focus, and this was implemented very well.

gbegreg 2025-04-20 16:29

Very original game idea with good execution, congratulations!

retrisma 2025-04-21 16:44

Very cool and unique puzzle mechanic to have different layers of focus depth in a point-and-click scene! I liked scrolling in and out a lot. My main critique is that the point-and-click puzzle felt a little random, in the sense that I wasn't sure what to do at any given moment and mostly clicked around randomly after the bird puzzle. Very fun idea, though!

zimny11 2025-04-21 22:01

I see what you did with the theme :D Great job! I love point&click puzzle games! The blur look really well, puzzles were not obvious (which is good imo) and the whole idea is interesting. Only music got a bit repetitive, but nothing bad. Well done!

cassowary 2025-04-22 23:18

This is great! A nice twist on a point and click game. I appreciated the little extra touches and easter eggs you threw in. Also it's really cool that you made the whole thing only using your eyes! I'd love to see an expanded version of this with more missions and maybe an overarching story.

roroto-sic 2025-04-24 15:39

Fun and creative point and click ! I enjoyed a lot playing it !! (to me, finding the rain was the hardest part ^^)

Awesome take on the theme! I managed to hit the target. Nice graphics, cool audio. I really like how you made the focus of the binoculars by blurring different layers a different amount.

Well done!
