LD46 — Keep it alive

Ninja and Mouse by TrampolineTales 2020-04-20T04:20:07Z

Love this game. Play it many times too. I love the shop appearing mid game. I've yet to found a useless ability so thumb up. If there's background music, this is gonna be one of my favorite in the jam

Magic Garden by MaggardJosh 2020-04-21T07:46:12Z

What i like about the game:

- Music - Progressive unlock ability & back tracking. Feel like mini take on metroid - The ending where you get to the top, you doesn't gain anything but getting to the top itself is an achievement. Very cool

What i think would improve the game:

- Perform action midair (i.e attack, throw vine)

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-20T08:01:57Z

I was looking forward to your game during the mid jam progress update. Overall, love the art style, audio & feel of this game. The camera movement confused me initially coz i think it's autoscrolling and catching up to me. The jump could be made tighter by allowing directional input during airtime.

Environmental element like wind or rain will be nice addons if you consider extending the game after LD. Great work given the 48 hours constraint!

The Acolyte by Tattomoosa 2020-04-20T06:52:25Z

The earth swallowing animation is hilarious  I think you can tweak the attack & grab a bit to make it more forgiving. It's hard to keep exact grab in the midst of battle, especially with 3-4 opponents around slinging projectile at you.

I reached 8 HP and died there. I will visit again to finish the game later

don't dead it by drprettypatty 2020-04-20T05:22:07Z

Love the art style. It's a relaxing game that i can imagine going back to after LD. I've tried to feed it everything i found but it has yet to die :D

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-20T17:45:01Z

Most innovative mechanic of the jam! plus a great level of execution & polish.

A Night In The Dark by lectvs 2020-04-20T05:47:37Z

Wow, i didn't expect the secret! That's honestly my ah ha moment of this game. Very well done

The joys of parenthood by IronyGames 2020-04-20T09:03:21Z

WOW, JUST WOW! Brilliant small piece of game. How the story progress sometimes reflect our real thought of having a child  I was under intense moment where i wonder if the baby is gonna come at me for food. Very well done indeed.

Feeding Mr Biggs by Marco Stagni 2020-04-20T10:19:49Z

Good starting base for more intricate levels. Having the boy walking around would be an added challenge to consider

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-20T07:39:18Z

Even though i didn't get it at the start, watching the dots bobbing around is great fun!

Ordinary Human Conversation by MikeSalyh 2020-04-20T07:34:24Z

Very high level of polish. The beat of the music is on point to keep up the tension. I was bobbing my head the whole time. Great short game for kids to learn pattern matching

Last Fortress Left by ConnorThompson 2020-04-20T10:40:28Z

Would love to see more staggered path instead of putting the block at the intersection. Or experiment with different type of traffic distribution (i.e round about, diamond shape crossed over). Neat puzzling concept nonetheless.

Bodyguard by kodran 2020-04-22T14:01:38Z

haha you had me at "His mother tells us...". I think if you want to create a laid back hunting experience, it's a success, mainly thanks to the relaxing music. Is it intentional for certain lv to make a 50/50 call? I.e the number of clues given does not rule out all suspects.

My Pet's Dungeon by N.O. Games 2020-04-20T09:36:40Z

Addictive game play. I love how it reminds me of pokemon where if your trainer's lv is not high enough, the monsters sometimes won't listen to you.

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T11:31:12Z

Pigeon level is too hard  I love the feeling of throwing the heart up and attempt a last minute catch. Had lots of fun being a drone operator  Also you can make use of centrifugal force and swing the basket around. Hilarious

Ice Ice Baby by Fabrizio Spadaro 2020-04-20T10:29:21Z

Wow, fresh new mechanic of controlling the world instead of the player. The melting seems to only be calculated on the ground so a cheeky strategy is to keep poggo jumping. I would love to find out if you have other idea relating to how this world tilting mechanic can be extended further

Spirit Quest: Journey to Devil's Mound by TheseusInABottle 2020-04-20T07:16:58Z

You got me at "Frog guardian drop a frog leg" The game seems choke full with content as well so that's a definitely a plus. My strategy so far has been: Boosting + spam attack. I'm not sure the elemental attribute plays into damage calculation and if I can use that to formulate a different approach as well.

Would love to see each boss has a different hint to what they might do next. Or adding effect that interfere with boss's action (stun, paralyzed, burnt, frozen)

How did you make all the character graphic? Is it programmatically generated some way? They look very symmetrical and have a sweet pattern to it.

..at any cost by Igoreshka 2020-04-20T05:13:36Z

Holy hell, that's some great implementation there. The graphic reminds me of Superbrothers: Sword & Soccery. I'm a sucker for platformer and i must say your run & jump feeling are great! The grab mechanic create some very cool challenge. Especially the wall bounce sequence with grab & long jump. Control scheme is a bit clunky though. Maybe try auto grab?

Drag-On by puma3 2020-04-20T04:24:51Z

doesn't load for me too

Primed by gimblll 2020-04-20T06:37:49Z

The polish is on the another level - screen shake, bullet knock back, particle on collision, parallax background and a hip sound track. The double twist is one of my favorite moment of this jam

LD46 - Keep it alive by ZwodahS 2020-04-20T04:26:38Z

love the twist at the end, the red flashing give me some panic attack

Chess Mess by Pavel Ivanov 2020-04-20T04:48:01Z

Neat game! I love how polish the graphic is. On top of that the sound makes a great chilling experience. One request would be to speed up the animation. I spent too much time waiting for the puzzle after i figure out how to solve it.

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-22T17:02:53Z

For me, the most fundamental thing when it comes to a platformer is the perceived feeling of movement & fluidity you have. I think your game nail it on this aspect from many factors: - The music, up beat and high tempo just make me rush into action - The slime as a character gives you this mental model of slippery => perceived fluid - The control of the slime character itself: it accelerates pretty fast, it has a reasonable air time & control during air time, the almost immediate stop when release button. - The visible "count down" knight - The instant feedback of seeing mama (or should it be a child haha) grows instead of just a point system.

Other plus points to the gameplay: - Hidden interactions: you lost stickiness to the wall once you "paint" it with your slime => make future run super tight in term of wall jump execution. I had many replay where i instantly go to the top left (challenging platforming sequence but worth it) and see how many trips can i make before the eventual slime disallow me to do so. - Throw mechanic: i can technically go to the top, grab all the items, throw them down and then proceed to drop down to feed the mama. Make the game slightly more complicated in term of strategies. I.e i could make many short trip and enjoying the platforming or i could try a very challenging path but rewards with lots of food

I love the attention to details here! I enjoy all the mini platformer games where it allows me to dissect & learn from the gameplay. Yours is one of them.

Late Medieval Network Engineer by MisterKeefe 2020-04-20T09:16:44Z

Wahahaha, as a web dev by day, this makes me laugh real hard  The ramp up of difficulty is just nice. I feel like i could reach a few day higher had i make a better card choice.

UI is clean and clear, no confusion whatsoever. I'm definitely retry this to see if there's a hidden boss somewhere down the end

Happy Life by scalliondelight 2020-04-22T16:39:11Z

wow wow super hard game here. However you hit the point with how it reminds us of our daily life and what our priority in life should be. We can't have it all, either my pop, my wife or my digital pet  Minor feedback i have is how to make it obvious that elements are interactive and not just there. Didn't realize i have the food & drink menu options until my 5th play through.

Overall really love the concept, feel very original and relevant! Well done!

Unlucky Day by landsykes 2020-04-20T09:57:42Z

A short and relaxing game. You have great graphic style for your first game! Gameplay could be improved by find way to stop the cheesing strategy, i.e just put umbrella on top of the character.

Let's stick together by syo 2020-04-20T14:10:16Z

Neat puzzle mechanic. Sometimes the better strategy is to sacrifice your soldier to make movement easier :D

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T04:53:12Z

@thor-lucas thanks for the feedback! I was running out of time so couldn't patch a lot of content in. I spent too much time building the mechanic for chaining event but end up not using it so definitely a good lesson learnt for me.

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T06:24:33Z

@sayumeki unfortunately due to time constraint there's no endgame :) I originally wanted to put a fast forward event as a hidden end game where you survive until a few years on and the world would morph into a post apocalypse state. Definitely aware of my low event pool. That'll be smth i work on post LD

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T07:03:20Z

@mikesalyh Glad you found out the My Friend Pedro reference  Essentially there's a chance that you might catch Corona and the symptoms are an approximation of that (hint: there's flu, cold & corona in the game so you have to guess which one do you have). There'll be a hospital event added to the pool if you catch any of the symptom. However since i code it as a random generator for event now, it might not show up for you.

@owl-skip i built it with Haxe & Heaps, the underlying engine MotionTwin used for DeadCell

@retti01 glad you enjoy it. I hope i had time to add more sanity regeneration event

@ubershmekel Yes! that was the feeling i strike for in the game as well. Essentially some dark humor to release the pent up energy we have from lock down

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T08:42:08Z

@martintale good idea. Let me bake that in to my post LD update patch.

@chertkov thanks for noticing the Reigns-like balance. Paper Please & Reigns are definitely game i have in mind when making this!

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T10:52:08Z

@saviqq thanks for your very detailed comment. I have a few idea of how i would make the event system even more intricated:

• Chaining event, i.e one event trigger the addition of another event. For example, there's a reference to My Friend Pedro event which original i planned to introduce his wife & kids after the player have met him:D

• Some kind of feedback from "In the news" to act as prediction for what future events will come. For example, having heard that police is keeping a close watch on an upcoming protest will give you a hint of what to come when you encounter the protest itself.

• Introduce government policy to reduce the spread rate of the virus. Player's decision can affect how this government policy will steer

• And overall much bigger pool of events for you to play with.

@willypa: glad to know you enjoy it

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-23T04:03:40Z

@meelo I'm sorryyyyy, the doctor hasn't found a cure for Covid yet

The Battery by ilidanox 2020-04-20T13:54:39Z

Wow great amount of work in 48 hours! Inventory system, different weapon, battery & light system. Congratz on your first game jam

Don't Mind Me! by Paul Merkamp 2020-04-20T04:35:20Z

Hahaha, i have a good laugh when I found out i can break the purple box myself

Don't Forget To Water! by Thor Lucas 2020-04-20T05:34:44Z

One of the better plant watering game of this jam. I love the gradual hand holding of level design. Looking forward to more level after LD!

Feeding Time! by ghostonline 2020-04-20T09:45:32Z

I can't seem to find a good way to get pass lv 2 for the life of me?! Am i supposed to jump and drop the food bowl at the same time?

Hungry Flames by ViniFlores 2020-04-20T06:27:45Z

Hungry_Flames_by_ViniFlores.png

Screen size seems to be squashed on html5. As owner said, the game is HARD at level 3. I would love to see an extension where you can through portion into flame and sword at ghost for even more chaotic but strategic gameplay.

Egg Rocket Unicorn by ubershmekel 2020-04-20T07:22:23Z

Noooooooo, my unicorn left me :( But seriously, great poke at unicorn eating its own tail  There seems to be a lot of sideway movement when you press and hold W/^ which does annoy me abit

Keep E.T Alive by Saviqq 2020-04-20T11:06:16Z

i've tried to download the web version but just couldn't find out to run it. I had a warning of `It seems your browser does not support running Unity WebGL content from file:// urls. Please upload it to an http server, or try a different browser.`. Really want to be an alien doctor

Keep E.T Alive by Saviqq 2020-04-20T11:35:08Z

The poof sound and the weird noise the alien made crack me up so hard :D I don't know what this alien had on earth but his poop rate is exceptional. Pooper of the year
