Good game idea! The idea with the light is very nice because you can visually see it change even if your in another room.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → The Battery

Good art and nice game.
Nice game idea, the art is great and the sound effects are good aswell. overall, good game.
Wow. The fact that you were able to put this much complexity and depth into the game with the different weapons, inventory system, and great adventure light function that forces you to watch how long you've been away from your light, in just 48 hours blows my mind. Truly impressive stuff. I loved the core gameplay and when I saw the room getting dark and knew how far I was from the light I got genuinely stressed. The only thing I think is missing is some music.
Definitely continue to build up and polish this game. Fantastic work.
Nice take on the theme, really well executed.
Solid game! Everything works very well, mechanics are smooth, gameplay is intuitive and fun, and the graphics are really good especially for your first time! The use of ambient lighting to show how much power/time is left is also a great effect. Nice job!
Also, the basic enemies kinda look like brightly colored cows to me for some reason, very funny when they're chasing me around the room.
Super impressing! The fact that you manged to compo this game is amazing. I like the thought of having to go back to feed the light. I tried but I didn't manage to finish the game, but I would suggest to later add the ability to teleport back so that the game becomes less repetitive. Overall, a really innovative game style which I haven't seen before.
Hey, congratulations on finishing your game! For your first LD attempt, this is amazing!
One thing I'd add to the light timer is some sort of warning - it can be pretty easy to miss when the progress bar starts ticking down. You can easily find yourself a long way from the light source with the lights already fading.
I've got one question about the light source and batteries - is there a maximum amount of power stored in there? If I keep throwing in more batteries do I get more time from all of them, or is it possible to have too much power (and thus waste batteries if more are thrown in)?
Fun game! But I did not manage to open the door with the key (tried every button), was a bit disapointing. Would have liked to battle the boss.
Guys, thank you so much for this amount of positive feedback. Later, I'll record a playthrough and post it somewhere here.
To answer a few questions:
The keys can be used by pressing F. (Forgot to mention it in the post, but it should be in the tutorial. I think. I was rushing through the tutorial section :D)
And no, there's no maximum amount of energy stored in the explorer's light.
Thank you again :)
Wow great amount of work in 48 hours! Inventory system, different weapon, battery & light system. Congratz on your first game jam
Excellent submission! You did a ton of work and I really like the end result.
Wow you did all that in 48 hours Well done
Great concept for a game. I'd like to see the intro instructions replaced with more of an in-game / self discovery approach where you learn how to play the game by playing the game, but otherwise it was a lot of fun to play.
