LD46 — Keep it alive

Ball Keeper by JCMonkey 2020-04-20T04:04:29Z

Ooof! That was fun! I liked the ambience a lot. The ball ping sound effect was funny but doesnt really fit in with the ambience. also I lost my shit when the turret started attacking my ball. My precious little ball. Very fun man! good job!

The Living Blob by dob 2020-04-20T04:01:00Z

Veeeery interesting! I really liked this mechanic. Fun! Graphics could use some work though — it looks ancient. Like one of those game I used to play on coolmathgames. This could make for a verry fun mobile game. Seriously!

Astrodrift by Flaterectomy 2020-04-21T07:57:05Z

WOW haha very fun game!! Extremely frustrating though :) I would love a way to be able to adjust how strongly the beam pulls you so I can more effectively slingshot myself — though that might make it too easy. One thing I think you should change is adjust the function which determines the strength of the pull to boost it a little when you're close to an object. For example, when I was near one of those dead people with oxygen, I couldnt pull myself toward them at all! My beam was just too weak, even when I was right next to them. So perhaps adjust it just slightly — I suspect the function increases the strength when you're farther away, like an elastic band yes? Perhaps just take the max of two functions, one which works at closer range and is slightly stronger. Overall very interesting mechanic! Good job!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T00:15:23Z

Ok, that was absurdly fun. My favorite game so far. The mechanic was so incredibly unique and it perfectly mixed both timing with puzzles. Art was awesome too! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the music — everything besides that was perfect.

Unbroken Shell by Garett Cooper 2020-04-20T03:39:04Z

Awesome! Cool atmosphere! Surprisingly very difficult game. I couldn't get passed the second set of narrow platforms I must have tried like 10 times ): Graphics are very unique. I found myself getting very attached to my little egg :) Congrats!

Herb! by Swordfish 2020-04-20T03:25:40Z

LMAO! The audio effects were absolutely hilarious. Kept me smiling the whole time. Hitboxes need a lot of work though — for some reason I can only hit grass from the left side and only if I'm slightly under it. You need to enlarge the hitbox on the grass. Also why do the trees move when you hit them? Also I couldn't find any creatures -- after the first minute or so they seem to have fucked off into nowhere and they have disappeared. Overall very funny game, I enjoyed it!

Herb! by Swordfish 2020-04-20T03:26:15Z

Oh one more thing — you should try to get your sprites to match scales. For example — the pixels on the tree are like 10x bigger than the pixels on the main player!

juxta.LINE by fiaKaiera 2020-04-20T03:28:14Z

Aw this game looks really interesting but I can't play it (macOS). What game engine are you on? Why don't you have licenses to export to a specific platform?

Johnny The Stupid Electron by Collin Thompson 2020-04-20T03:53:06Z

Uh oh ! The HTML5 build is broken. Getting a 404. Also on macOS there's a huge bug — I mean huge literally. My mouse cursor occupies my ENTIRE 5k monitor. Unfortunately I couldn't play the game because of this, since I couldn't see anything! Turning on notifications for this in case it gets fixed. I'm a chemistry major so I'm very much interested in playing this :)

Zero by omercanbalandi 2020-04-21T00:01:09Z

Very nice! The game was very fun and highly impressive for just 48 hours. It really could have benefited from SFX though — at least basic sounds like those you can make with SFXR. Music would be nice too. Another suggestion is to make the player hitbox smaller — I kept hitting into walls when visually I wasn't touching them. Also perhaps a circular hitbox would have helped because then you could "slide" past corners which would feel a lot better. A slight camera shake too on bullet hit would be nice. Finally, you should make the door opening and closing use the inventory key instead of the shoot key, since I kept going inside when I meant to fight.

All in all, very nice! Could make a very good game when fully fleshed out. Congrats!

Run Robot Run! by Nikos 2020-04-20T04:42:48Z

Funny! I couldn't stop laughing at the blinky eyes. Cool that it’s procedurally generated. However the space is wayyyy too tight for the size and jump height of the robot. I kept repeatedly hitting my heat. And it was too hard to maneuver around because of this. You should either make the robot smaller or update the proc gen to make bigger, more open spaces. Very nice!

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-21T00:08:44Z

Lol! Very fun! The voice over was very funny :) I think the basket physics could use a little help — it didnt feel quite "right" to me. But that just takes a little tweaking of physics parameters. Not a hugee fan of the art-style but that’s entirely subjective. Overall I spent way longer on this than I probably should have haha, good job!

Me and My BEAST by Electric Blue 2020-04-20T03:56:28Z

It worked for me (macOS). Neat game! I think the movement speed is too fast, and so are the hunters. (Oh just checked the description, apparently it's a known bug). Also I keep accidentally running into the best and mounting him when I don’t want to — maybe bind it to a key? Also tell me: the BEAST was definitely inspired by Appa, right? Hah! Good job :)

Planet Parasites by Danilo Sadzinski 2020-04-20T04:06:37Z

Aw man, graphics look great from the screenshots! And it looks very interesting. I wish there was a mac version. Turning on notifications in case you do post a mac version — please @ me!

KeepItAlive by LinWenHao 2020-04-20T03:14:03Z

I'm not entirely sure how to run it — do I have to compile? The installation steps on your git page are x'ed out.

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-20T04:38:54Z

"Asian people eat hardship for a living" LMAO good stuff. Very funny, although pretty dark game. Seriously hilarious. Although I started getting into a loop — I saw the same screens several times. Would love some more branches to this game! Goodjob!

Angry Aphid by scifi6546 2020-04-20T02:27:18Z

I spent a surprising amount of time playing such a simple game! Pretty fun! A few suggestions: once the sprout becomes small it’s impossible to lose since you can just stand in front of it and kill the aphids. Maybe make the aphids come from random directions and angles? Second, I thought the explosion effect was too slow. The whole game pace was a little too slow -- maybe speed it up 2x? Finally: Might I suggest making the main player a ladybug (maybe four pixels checkerboard red and black)? Since they are known for eating aphids :) Good job!

Rogue Janitor by stolen_biscuit 2020-04-20T03:20:08Z

Hah! I quite liked it. Btw I played on macOS and it worked just fine. Graphics were very cool! Controls are very unintuitive though — I had to have my left mouse button clicked the whole time in order to look around (why wouldn't you be able to look without pressing LMB?) I love the music - very spooky. Although I'm not quite sure what this has to do with the theme (how are you keeping it alive?) Overall quite impressive. I have yet to try 3D godot — this inspired me to give it a shot. Good job!

Treeblocks by mincho 2020-04-20T03:45:56Z

Lol! I love games like this. Enjoyable! With some better graphics, a little more variation, and some improvements to the music, this could make for a great mobile game. I highly encourage you to keep working on this, or use this as a proof-of-concept to develop a mobile game! Great concept, seriously!

FEED by BlipBloop 2020-04-20T03:33:06Z

Hahah very interesting game — I have not seen this game mechanic before. I like that the platforms also become feedable objects when you get big enough! The art was simple but effective. Good job man!

Don't Forget To Water! by Thor Lucas 2020-04-20T01:59:17Z

LDJam won't let me edit my page — but the bug is squashed and the game should now work on macOS and Windows!

Don't Forget To Water! by Thor Lucas 2020-04-20T04:10:28Z

@trampolinetales @thatothernerd I'm sorry! Godot HTML5 support is very much lacking. Godot currently only supports these HTML5 games in some browsers AFAIK — so perhaps you were using a configuration that is not supported.

Don't Forget To Water! by Thor Lucas 2020-04-20T04:11:08Z

@willops haha ran out of time! Added all the levels on the last 4 hours of time :) Thanks for playing!

Carry the Fire by Ciber_Turtle 2020-04-20T02:35:18Z

Cool idea! Like others have said the controls need a little help. There appears to be a bug where the character wont jump sometimes. By the way — the music gives a very empty and alone vibe, which perfectly matches the idea of the trying to light a fire in the dark. Good job!

The Game of our Lives by Owl_Skip 2020-04-20T02:30:42Z

Wow! I loved that. Was very much not expecting that. The music and ambience were fantastic. It was a pleasant surprise :) Thank you!
