Fun litte game, although getting a child pretty much means an instant game over
Fun game and creative concept. I think a clearer game objective shown at the start would have helped the initial confusion I had with the mechanics.
I don't know how many pizza oven this guy need, but it's way too much. He also need to think about how he use his money, it's a little frustrating how he don't use it wisely when he want to make a game. (I don't need a f****** boat that cost $100 when I'm working my ass to make enough money)
Fun little game nonetheless, the music wasn't boring. I would maybe add a "sanity" bar ? Cause I didn't work at all on my dreams to get the $300 and it feel kinda wrong.
Maybe adding a day's counter would be good too ? Like, to have a scoring part, and knowing if we did better when we restart the game.
Please continue making game, it was really pleasant to play.
Oh yeah, this hits home. Though my job is actually a good one, so I have that going for me! I liked the screen turning between frowning/happy faces, reminded me of the "Tired of looking at BAD SCREEN, can't wait to get home and look at GOOD SCREEN" meme.
Otherwise, I made it! Though I wonder whether I didn't run through it way too quickly, because I haven't encountered any pizza ovens, boats or god forbid, a kid.

Otherwise pleasant color palette, quite simple to understand, even though took me couple of seconds to realise what the game progress bar means. All in all, good job!
Now I only have to find out how to fix the IRL bug when you sleep and the exhaustion meter doesn't go down.
Made it in my first attempt, got lucky and had no baby for a long time. Great game! Some things like a lower volume for the release jingle and text gets overlapped by the progress bar are an easy fix which makes a really fun game to play. Really enjoined my time with it.
Made it on my first attempt too, got two promotions at the start of the game so maybe I got very lucky Music is quite nice too (but also quite loud, got jumpscared by the first popup), a solid entry overall!
Nice, a simple little game with an extremely relatable premise! I also beat it on my first try (this part was unrelatable!)
It would be cool if there were more actions the player can take!
Either I got super lucky, or this game is telling me to follow my dreams...
Hey, why did you make a game about my life?
Jokes aside, pretty cool entry, I love the interpretation of the theme. The random events were wacky hahaha, at the end I probably had like 7 pizza ovens? I was like "my dude, why are you wasting so much money on that lol"
When I had a kid, I thought it'd be over, but I got a promotion right after and pushed through.
Good job!
@wheelsx you should follow your dreams XD.
@hubol yeah, I ended up making a game that mirrors my life :'(. Hopefully one day we can all drop the company jobs and just be happy making games XD. And yeah, I was planning on having some other features but I didn't get enough time :( Glad you liked it though!
@jeffez Yeah, I struggled a lot with balancing it. At first it was really hard and everyone got the boat (which I love, it is just too funny to remove), but I couldn't find time to polish it in such a way that drops challenges other than in a random way :(
Nice little game. On my first run I just worked, bought a boart and lost.. on the next attempt I just worked on my dreams and got promoted, I guess the game wants to tell me something xD
Really liked the writing! The art style was cute, and the simulation too close to home as it should be
I think this game needed more events and texts in general, like description of the game you're publishing. It became too repetitive at some point. Also and it's a tip I got for my game - the volume is way too loud - the best thing is to send the game to other people and they notice it right away
Still, probably the best writing I seen so far in the ludum jam, just wish there was more
Well, this is the story of my life, thank you, I can definitely relate to it xD. The music is definitely accurate with the mood. Although it can feel a bit repetitive at some point (but maybe that's what it is in real life, you just juggle between various obligations etc. and not to forget you did what you could within a COMPO entry), I can see a potential for a nice idle game about that subject though. Good job!
Hits close to home...
The writing has a really good consistent tone and the music is great! It took me a little while to realise the time reset at 24 (in hindsight it's obvious it's hours but this wasn't obvious to me at the start), it would have been a nice visual cue if the sky outside the window changed with the time.
This is realistic! I too go around without sleep for days. The only part that needs further work is when you forget to sleep, you should just sleep on the desk. :D Good job
Tough to play a video game about my life like this, but it was good fun. I think the pacing could use a bit of work, and I think I just got lucky and made it to the end on my first go with no issues. Still, it was a cute resource management sim, good job for such a short timeline.
Yay I did it !
My two first playthoughs started with buying the boat, so I found the game quite hard. On my third try, I understood that it was random, and that I'm just an unlucky guy ahah.
The only suggestion that I could give may be to don't use pixel art for text, such as the buttons ones. It's kinda clear as there is only 3 of them but it's really hard to read them at first as it's so small, whereas the rest of the text looks nice and is perfectly readable.
In any case, very cute and funny game ! Good job(aha) !
Nice little game, great concept. Well done!
@wheelsx you were at work when I played this, but I was going to post the exact same thing. What an encouraging game! Follow your dreams, buy a boat, go to every concert that comes by... it will all work out in the end :P
