LD57 — Depths

Neon Crawl by ping78 2025-04-12T14:12:06Z

Nailed the neon vibe, nice job! Definitely a challenge, particularly when I'd spawn into a room and get insta-popped by a baddy before I could get my mouse in the right spot  Could definitely use a bit less empty space, there were times where I'd spend 20 seconds just traversing rooms (which is forever in game jam land ). All that said, very nice, challenging, and fun entry!

Delver Delve by khaotom 2025-04-08T12:29:41Z

For a simple as the concept seemed, you really nailed it. The simple art worked out really well, everything was super clear and the level design was really solid for a 48 hour jam. I definitely went through a few times to see how much gold I could grab, and I enjoyed every run. I wouldn't have minded some coyote time on the jumps, but that's not a must-have for platformers to be fun. Well done!

Enter Exit by DiscoFish 2025-04-12T16:26:50Z

There are good takes on the theme, and then there are great takes on theme. No butts about it this one was the latter. Great art, obviously. As a proof-of-concept for a broader, story-driven, short narrative experience, this stands out for sure. Really great stuff!

THE CAVE MAN by unima9000 2025-04-21T15:45:20Z

Really great job with this one. The atmosphere was great and the progression was really satisfying for a Compo entry. The music got a little repetitive, but that definitely happens with such a short window to compose. I didn't have any issues w/ the monster despawning or anything, got to the house just fine. Great entry!

ABSEIL by baknik 2025-04-11T12:49:45Z

Cute entry! Simple but challenging core mechanic, and you tied the theme into the core loop well. I had a tough time with the controls, but I started to get the hang of it after a few runs. All in all I had a good time with it, thanks for posting! Oh and a heads up the LD embedded version doesn't show the UI, but itch does.

Drill Crew by lectvs 2025-04-12T16:21:49Z

Closest I've given to a perfect score so far, really loved this one! Super polished, great engaging concept... I was supposed to play a ton of games but ended up on this one for like... 45 minutes? lol. I got to 50 gems and 1000.6m before I let myself lose. With enough gems, your bullets start to clip through the bats, which was a (likely unintentional) challenge  Really great job!

Selective Drilling by Xwilarg 2025-04-12T16:37:11Z

Always good to see some upgrade elements in a jam game, especially such a short one. A bit more clarity on when I could drill would be nice, and the sound was a little bit grating. But I get what you were going for and you did a good job getting there!

An Angler's Light by Yorsh 2025-04-11T12:37:30Z

Super polished, really fun Compo entry! The art and sounds meshed super well and the gameplay was really fun. Well done!

2.5 Depth by Jeffez 2025-04-07T12:58:43Z

I'm generally bad at platformers, so I didn't make it past the bit with the two mine carts and the door, but I had fun up until that point! I actually didn't figure out the mine cart mechanic (I could push them around but they never seemed to help me in a way I could understand), but I had fun incidentally breaking the game by double-jumping using the hidden blocks  Also the chatter during sketch mode was good fun. I really enjoyed the concept.

Drilly's Journey by Alex Davies 2025-04-13T13:48:25Z

I didn't manage to finish bc I wanna try some other games but this is one I hope to get back to and play to the end. Especially with only 24 hours the level design and concept is super solid. Definitely some rage-game elements with missing a jump and then ending up drilling upwards into the starting flag and being set back to the beginning lol. Really fun, great job!

LD57 - Slappy's Reef by Scott R Howell 2025-04-07T13:22:14Z

Felt like some cpu particles on that initial submersion, 'coz Godot always struggles with that in browser (from experience) The music, like the main character, slapped. While I found the keyboard controls a bit tough, I'm sure if I played for more than a round or two I'd get the hang of it. Well executed for a Compo, great job!

A Memory of Her by ConradoClark 2025-04-12T16:33:41Z

Nice little puzzler, the theme of using my memory to trigger her memories was a nice touch. My only issue is that I'm colorblind so the green/yellow and white/cyan were hard to tell apart. Otherwise, good stuff!

DeepSeak by Outish 2025-04-08T12:21:44Z

Cute game, a little easy but who has time to balance for a Compo anyway? SFX were good (better than the mouth-noises I made for mine anyway ), no need for tutorialization because everything was clear, and I appreciate your lore deep dive in the other comments. Nice and simple!

Shafted by DecadeDecaf 2025-04-23T23:18:33Z

Definitely one of my favorite entries, well done! The loop was satisfying, I was NOT expecting a boss fight (??), let alone one so satisfying to win! The sounds were well mixed and not tedious, the music loop was catchy and not annoying. Really impressive stuff!

Digdigdig by hubol 2025-04-08T13:02:28Z

My favorite entry so far. It was innovative, funny, and clever in all the right ways. Really the type of game I play jams to find. Thanks so much for sharing this gem with the world  It almost made me late for work...

Depth Defying by DangItsPang 2025-04-10T17:17:29Z

Great game for a lunch break  Nice and simple, had me thinking what story elements would come out of different combos. Good job!

Abysm by APG 2025-04-23T22:47:53Z

Interesting concept! Took a few tries to get through (I had to read the instructions to understand, but I got there). But it was a neat idea for a jam, well done!

Echoes of the Deep by nyxkn 2025-04-07T12:36:22Z

Surprisingly calming for a game about diving into the creepy depths of the ocean  The ambiance and sfx were really well done. The sonar mechanic was a nice addition to make it more than a regular maze game. I think the pacing could use a bit of work, the sub felt really slow (which was thematic, but I found myself wanting to speed up a bit ). Nice job!

Sushi Pit by Cinar 2025-04-08T12:33:13Z

Ahh really wish I could play this one it looks good :sob: Won't work on Chrome or Firefox in windows for me. I'll check back to see if other folks are able to get it sorted. Really enticing cover art though

Rooted Deep by DzejPi 2025-04-07T15:05:23Z

Wish I could rate it, but I'm left handed so it's too hard to play with the right handed key bindings

VoidQuest by koalabear 2025-04-23T23:01:50Z

Nice soothing resource management game. I wasn't sure what the green stuff to pick up was, but after sorting out how to get the clocks (quick enough but I died once before I got there), it became pretty straightforward to coast around collecting stuff. Thanks for sharing, I had fun with it!

Miner TD by OldDog 2025-04-07T16:10:20Z

Really excellent entry! On my first playthrough I managed to not upgrade my distance enough and got blocked from progress (but it felt like a loss condition not a softblock, so nice job). Addictive gameplay and really well executed for such a simple concept. Great job!

Saving Turtle Rainn by Ilinx 2025-04-13T14:10:26Z

Great job for such a short jam. I love a kinda turn-based platformer, and this one was well executed. Good cohesive art and sound design, and some real promise for more complex puzzles in a larger game. [spoiler] Not to mention the ecological callout at the end for the turtle tangled in plastic pollution. All in all a solid entry, especially for the time limit!

Knocking On Hell's Door by Frib 2025-04-07T15:23:31Z

Really fun entry! The music was super catchy and the monsters were very creepy somehow  I got to floor 15 before I got stuck in rocket spam and died. I think without those being impassable I could've gone a while, I had a nice system going, ha. I really liked the shadows they cast on the walls coz it helped me find em but also made the enemies more menacing, hah. High marks, well done!

Depths Help by LeoAtopos 2025-04-11T12:44:17Z

Great interpretation of the theme and nice, simple execution. I liked the multiple endings, too! Good stuff

Neuronic Netronics by kaliuresis 2025-04-13T14:20:30Z

Really wish I could figure this out but I haven't dug enough into NN's I guess! Loved deep learning as a take on the theme, and with some more tutorialization a game like this could definitely be used to help people understand the fundamentals of NN's. I hope it gets developed out a bit more with the feedback from the comments here. Nice job setting it up with web assembly too!

Test1 by D_omino 2025-04-07T12:46:55Z

I couldn't make it to the end (assuming their is one ) but it was still pretty fun. I would've loved a "go back" button considering how bad I was, but the refresh page button isn't too far off. But it's nice when a pretty mechanically-simple compo entry kept my attention for a bit!

Return to Darkness by T4RAN 2025-04-12T16:40:14Z

Looked really promising, but I'm left-handed so the controls don't really work for me and I couldn't play it for more than a minute or two without quitting out of frustration :frowning2: Great job on the graphics and ambiance though!

Let me home by maxem4ek 2025-04-23T23:33:42Z

Dang this one really sucked me in. I'm glad I tried a few more before the rating period ended or I might have missed this gem! Your set design and ambiance was so good, I was WAITING so hard for a jump scare to happen lol. Super immersive, fantastic atmosphere, short and sweet experience. A whole game in this style with a deeper narrative would be a Steam release. Great job!

Depths of Space by Ali Yagmur 2025-04-07T13:14:44Z

Couldn't make it to the end, but had a good time trying! Not sure if it's firefox or some other issue but I would get random huge framerate drops that would cause me to lose control and hit stuff, so I ended up kinda rage quitting before I could reach the end. Maybe it works better in chrome or safari? In any case it's a nice challenge, and the "no sound in space" really added to the ambiance  Nice job!

Depths of the Deity by LukyStudios 2025-04-07T13:33:49Z

Took me a few tries to realize I could kill the enemy dispensers for health, hah. Also the damage noise startled me pretty hard the first time, but I grew to love (/hate) it. Boss fight wasn't bad and it was satisfying to finish up. Some of the key bindings were a bit off (down moved me to the right and A on gamepad restarted the game). But generally fun. I also wish the music looped, it was catchy

Work-Life Balance by sarellano 2025-04-11T13:17:17Z

Tough to play a video game about my life like this, but it was good fun. I think the pacing could use a bit of work, and I think I just got lucky and made it to the end on my first go with no issues. Still, it was a cute resource management sim, good job for such a short timeline.

MESSIER 104 CBH by kuboi 2025-04-12T14:18:09Z

We love a jam entry that's simple and engaging like this. Pretty to look at, sufficiently goofy sfx, nice ambiance, really good stuff! Wish I had more critical feedback to help out with but I'm coming up short

Debts in the Depths by Reaktori 2025-04-07T14:28:22Z

Wow super impressive entry! Made it to level 24 on my first try, and had a ton of fun while doing it. The art direction/sound design were spot on, the music was great, and I really loved the healing/damaging mechanic from the character. Definitely high marks from me, great job for such a short time!
