Took me a few tries to realize I could kill the enemy dispensers for health, hah. Also the damage noise startled me pretty hard the first time, but I grew to love (/hate) it. Boss fight wasn't bad and it was satisfying to finish up. Some of the key bindings were a bit off (down moved me to the right and A on gamepad restarted the game). But generally fun. I also wish the music looped, it was catchy
At start it was really hard, then i realized you can shoot the enemy spawners. Then i realized you can aim, and THEN i realized you can aim into any direction, since i was using controller. After these realizations clearing it slow and safe was super easy oppisite of playing to fast.
Too bad the music didnt loop, it was quite nice at start.
It was short and simple, nicely done for 12h jam.
I found it very challenging - like another user, I also didn't realise at first you could shoot the dispensers, and if you're too slow the enemies seem to bunch up down the bottom of the level. Also it's kind of awkward to have all the initial enemies be clinging to the bottom of the ceiling when you can only shoot horizontally.
Gameplay was fun though once I got the hang of it.
That scream is something else, lol
I went from "this is way too difficult" to "this is way too easy" when I learned you can aim your shots :D and they pierce walls which made it even better. Wrapping around was a nice touch!
very impressive to get all of this done in 12 hours!! actually really fun once I got the hang of it. like others have mentioned, what you can do could maybe be communicated a little better? regardless, super solid entry, nice job!
Guys for such a short time this is really sweet! Took me a while to get the hang of it but I enjoyed it once I did! Would have loved to see what you guys could pull off in 24 haha!
decent gameplay. Could have larger variety of audio.
I would have never figured out this was an 8 directional shooter if you didn't tell me. I was having a bit of fun, thought the giant pools of enemies were hilarious, but then got to the boss, died, and was sent all the way up. You lost me there, this really needs some checkpoint system
Pretty cool, especially for only 12 hours! Moving off screen to get to the other side was really neat, reminded me of Kid Icarus. The gameplay is solid, but took some time to figure out. I wish the music was a loop, but the death sound was very funny.
Pretty solid! I like the screen wrapping gameplay, really had to consider how the space connected in order to navigate. Did feel a little too easy to just shoot everything through the wall without actually contending with the enemies. Also, the music didn't loop correctly, so it was silent after one loop. Still, enjoyed the game, and impressed you managed to fit in a boss fight. Nice work!
I really like the Kid Icarus vibes. The graphics and gameplay are very solid. The sound effect when you get hurt is a little jarring and doesn't really fit with the style. I would say something more abstract would work better there. Also the music seems to just end instead of stopping. Some kind of indication of the boss health would be nice but it wasn't so long that I had to wonder if I was even hurting it. Lastly, I found that it was quite easy to just stockpile health. You could add a maximum health to limit that I guess. Great work overall, thanks for sharing.
Love the game, but how am I supposed to get past that one turret without touching it? Seems like a guaranteed/unavoidable life loss
Congrats to your first entry (on this account?). Your game is a solid base to build up on. As others already mentioned, the music sadly did not loop and the sound effect of getting hurt was a little bit unsuitable (and just on one side on my headset).
It´s a nice idea and I had fun playing it!
Had real trouble at first, then read one of the comments above saying I could shoot the spawners - then it became easy. The controls seem a bit messed up, left arrow goes left but down arrow goes right?? Using a controller seems to work best. Shooting in the direction of the mouse would have been nice as it aiming with the controller also makes you move. The web build has major performance issues. It became unplayable after about a minute. The aargh sound is quite something - and it can keep going after getting the game over screen...
A little arcade game, a classic (first?) entry for game jam.
Very challenging :) I don't know if there is an end, but I didn't reach it.
Graphics are good and music is fine (but not looping as said in previous comments)
