Got stuck at a point where there's a door and neither shift nor x worked for me, but I loved the background "podcast" when in doodle mode lol.

jeffez 2025-04-07 06:07

@sarellano Hey ! There is a small lever in doodle mode in front of the door. That is what trigger the door to open. I may have not make it clear enough, sorry.

If you tried the lever, and it still didn't work, would you care tell me on where did you play the game ? (Ludum website, or Itch.io ? Firefox ? Chrome ?)

Thanks for the message though

Lovely interpretation of the theme! I got stuck quite early on in the game since I couldn't manage to jump and switch the layers at the same time (I assume this was the intentional way to go?). The music tracks of the different layers remind me a bit of old Monkey Island games and the way the music changes when you enter and exit buildings.

psychomonster 2025-04-07 06:46

I like the voice overs in the drawen mode. From time to time it is very tricky to handle the layers and the jumps at the same time. Guess I'm to unskilled. Like the humor and the Idea a lot. Have a good time and greeting!

jeffez 2025-04-07 07:02

@manabreak There isn't a time where you should be jumping and switch lever. There should be always a platform under you (Even though it could be only in one layer or the other.

Didn't play the MonkeyIsland games, but I will try it. Thanks for trying my game !

@psychomonster Yeah, jumping and switching through the layer is quite difficult, it was easier for me on my controller, but it took me some time to master it. Thanks for the message !

I'm generally bad at platformers, so I didn't make it past the bit with the two mine carts and the door, but I had fun up until that point! I actually didn't figure out the mine cart mechanic (I could push them around but they never seemed to help me in a way I could understand), but I had fun incidentally breaking the game by double-jumping using the hidden blocks  Also the chatter during sketch mode was good fun. I really enjoyed the concept.

benski 2025-04-08 16:52

First off, great game idea! Made me laugh when I heard the voice in the sketching layer.

The switching mechanic has huge potential, but to use it mixed with jumping/movement mechanics, the movement mechanics themselves need to be more polished and refined. (Keeping in mind that it's a 48 hours jam and I'm sure you did all you could in the time frame).

Overall it truly had a ton of potential, but I got stuck on the part that I assume I needed to jump and press Shift on the level on the left to open the door on the right side. Pressing Shift just didn't do anything so I gave up on it eventually.

Other than that, great work, I was eager to continue and wished the controls and jumping mechanic were more tight.

This is one of the coolest takes on the theme I've seen, really love the creativity.

jeffez 2025-04-15 09:36

@youcarryoats Thanks for playing the game, The mine carts can be placed wherever you want, but I agree this is not the easiest mechanic to understand

@benski Thanks for the feedback ! Yes, I agree the controls are a little hard to work with, will try to improve them for my next jams.

@tad-i-guess Thanks !

Very nice idea! the movenment is a bit stuck sometimes but the game is really fun, good job!

It was really creative!

I also really liked both soundtracks and the general idea of switching.

But I found that you can just skip part of the game by using one minecart for parkour.

> Got stuck at a point where there’s a door and neither shift nor x worked for me

Same for me, can't open the door. Tried both shift keys.

Played on ( Firefox + GNU/Linux + itch.io )

Interesting idea, but too buggy and controls is uncomfortable. I got stucked on moment when player can ideally fit under the platform and i press space, after that i couldn't jump at all. The game also lacks polish. Anyways, the game idea is just massive and it's impossible to account for all aspects (especially crossing it with a platformer with other mechanics). It's a good concept. I liked the idea of the concept layer playing backgrgound audio explaining how the final music should sound. Good job!

perrin 2025-04-15 11:39

There's a great bug where you can lift carts upwards that allows you to climb anywhere you want and skip the final few puzzles. I think there's a classic indie tradition of making puzzles platformers where you switch between dimensions going back to the newgrounds days. I have to say there's a ton fo charm in switching between final game assets and the in-development process. I think I'd love to see that explored more. Though the actual puzzles in this this aren't the best there's some cool potential. I also wish you'd managed to do some kind of walk cycle to make the whole game feel less stuff.

texugo 2025-04-15 12:30

Hey, this is a pretty nice idea! The voice over was really fun and it's a great take on the theme. I found to controls a bit hard, specially in places where I was supposed to jump while changing layers, but it was still a fun experience. Great job!

montymakesgames 2025-04-15 16:53

This might genuinely be the greatest video game ever made... ever. Thank you sir.

civ92 2025-04-15 18:35

Very nice and original take on the theme. Enjoyed it, the presentation was quite good, even if jumps and hitboxes in general were sometimes unclear. Controller support is a nice addition, as I felt it was smoother with one.

braeden 2025-04-15 21:52

I love the switching to the sketch layer, that's hilarious! And the commentary in the back in the sketch layer LOL My one piece of feedback is since you ran out of time to make more layers it might have been nice to make the layer switching a toggle to make it easier to switch back a forth between layers. Although that would have made it easier so

jtap 2025-04-17 18:44

Great concept and unusual gameplay, it was a lot of fun to play. I wish the controls were a little more responsive and some simple character animation would have made the game a lot more lively. Thanks for the unusual experience.

pkenney 2025-04-25 04:34

Ha!! Loved the flip-world style a lot. The challenge on the platforming was quite a finger-dance to get through, but it stayed just the right side of sane. Failed a bunch, had some frustration, but then overcame.

I did get stuck on the second door. I didn't understand... I thought I had flipped a switch on the thing on the left in polish-world, but I guess not because the door did not open.

Cool concept, well executed. Congrats!
