Wow I ended up liking this a lot. I can't get past like 14 seconds, but I think I finally got the hand of 'scroll wheel to aim' controls after the first 10 deaths. I like how you made the aiming snap at discrete increments; it let me kinda lock in on how much scrolling it took to do a 180, 90, etc.
The concept is simple but well executed. I like games where the health of an entity can be inferred simply by it's visuals, like your fire. Very nice.
The different AIs were a good change of pace too. Some dragons went for me instead of the fire! Those bastards!
I also liked the simple but cohesive music and audio. Really true to the style of the game. I am curious why you opted out of being judged on audio because I would have scored it high.

The game was pretty polished! It would be neat if trampling over the flame would affect it.
I really liked the game, what impressed me the most is how well this picture worked as a background :P

Very fun and addictive game! The game also looks really good! I really like the unique combat system, it feels very challenging yet fair.
I really like the art direction, as simple as it is, it's quite charming. I like the audio as well, it really matches the aesthetic you have going on. The gameplay it self is challenging, I like the aim style, it's difficult to start with, but it quickly becomes muscle memory to either scroll quickly, or spam the arrow keys to get in the right direction.
My best score was 17.85 seconds :) Damn those lizards move quick
Interesting idea controlling with scroll wheel, got to 15 seconds, was fun

I liked the art style and sounds of the game. From the controls it's a bit hard to aim, but I think this gives the game it's difficulty. Super plus point, that you wrote this in pure java without using any graphics library (I might be wrong on that, I just looked at the code super quickly :)). I think you used the theme well. Overall really good job! It is not easy to make a game like this in 48 hours. :)
An addictive game, but I had to change my keyboard input method (AZERTY to QWERTY), I like the idea of controlling the rotation with scroll wheel, my best is 13.42
The game is really nice, fun an addictive. Keep it up!

Nice, I like its simplicity :) Did you use libgdx?
First of all I would like that thank everyone for your feedback. So happy to hear how much y'all are enjoying playing. I love how the comment section has almost become a leaderboard, maybe I can integrate one for the rolling release.
@nick-rafaiski Added back audio rating, wasn't sure if the audio would work, was totally mute on a few other systems. Thanks!
@mudlee @horbee No external libraries were used
The scroll wheel aiming is a nice refresher to the standard controls, I like it :D
did 13.07, i'm bad^^
Really clean submisson, you achieved to polish it quite well!
The only small remark I have is the fact that the wood drop is random (or I didn't catch the rythm?), which makes the fire survival quite more affected by the rng than by your skill
But anyway, it's an effective concept, it matches the theme, and it was really fun to play! So nice work :)
I like the idea. Bit of a different control scheme than usual in games but it worked well. Overall a pretty good game!

Nice game, but enemies are too fast for this controlers. Or I am bad player ;)

Cool work! Some random feedback: using the same resolution for every sprite image could make the game look a bit nicer. Well done overall for the very short time frame!
Looks & sounds very nice and plays well except for the turning controls. I would rather have snaped rotation aim with the mouse if that's what's essential.

Really liked this! Nice job. Cool music!
14 seconds in. Those sprinter dragons are really painful. Liked the mechanics, didn't like the controls so much, it was really hard to aim. The pixel art is fantastic. The music isn't perfect for the theme of the game, but it works. Nice work!

great game is very beatiful!!
Great game, well done. The dragons are hard. Did not like the scroll wheel aiming though if I'm honest, but I think its' a fun little compo entry. 9/10
Hard to aim, but I think that's kinda the point. Nice, polished game!
Took me a couple of plays to get used to the aiming, definately prefered the scroll wheel over the arrow keys. Nice to try controls that are different to the norm.
Simple but effective game-play loop. Aiming was a little awkward but I was able to get the hang of it. The menu buttons were actually really nice and it had good music.
Great game! that was really polished and fun. Aiming is a bit tough, but you get the hang of it. Awesome job! :D

Nice little game. Appeared to have varied AI goals (fire vs knight), not sure if they were conditional based or just different targets.
Found it very difficult to aim properly, would have been much better to align to mouse position rather than scrollwheel or arrow keys.
Nice sounds and art.
Great pixel art, dude! Very solid and polished look. 5/5 for gfx.

16.1! The speed really picks up after a slow start :) I was really surprised how well a mouse wheel control worked, nice implementation!
Fairly simple concept, with great execution. The UI was well put together, and the gameplay interactions all felt solid. I liked the mousewheel-to-aim control, which was a welcome change from most game where you simply had to mouse over the direction; it added a bit of extra challenge that I found fun. The graphics were cute, and had nice animation, and I liked the tense little theme song that seemed to be increasing in tempo as more and more dragons spawned, increasing my sense of urgency! Great job =)
I was thinking that you can kill dragons by moving them into fires. But no I have to keep fire alive. Very fun game. Well polished. Like the UI that you can disable particles ;)
I would love to see some level ups and ways to kill dragons other way then aiming. As it is sometimes hard to do that on arrows.
It was very atmoshperic for me, I think graphics is the role player here. Anyways, great game, keep up the good work!

The controls felt really weird, but I guess that's part of the concept. Graphics of the dragons could be improved, the rest was really nice. Fun little game, gj!
