Nice tutorial, great small scope so you have time to finish it! I recommend adding a gif of gameplay to get more plays :) Well done!

Hi! I tried playing around 5-6 times but couldn't understand where to get the water so I got stuck without managing to harvest anything :( Can you please explain how to get water? I'll be happy to try playing it again and re-rate.
Kind of hard to understand :(
It was kinda had to understand first but got it after couple tries. Keep up the good work!
Fun little game I had to play it three times before I found the water but It was really fun.
I enjoyed it! I loved the grotesk gourdy vegtables and fruits, it was pretty fun smacking them with my hoe
Cool to combine combat and farming together like this. After a certain point it seemed I had enough of a system going that I wasn't going to die any time soon (max seeds and hp, killed all the monsters), so I did eventually just quit the game. Nice work.
hard to understand, i also think it'd be nice if you could manually swing. it was pretty fun
the game has a nice core loop but it's a bit too difficult at the beginning and gets a bit too easy towards the end after you find all the tools. some preparation time to get your tools could balance it out. Visuals are cute, I like the enemy designs. Music is nice too. Enemies stopped spawning after a while so I guess I win? I got 13 points.
Also I would like to see a game about Fenasi's brother Fecisi as well.

This is a nicely polished minimalistic game. The game is self explanatory (after finding water) and the enemies add some depth to the game. If the crops turned into seeds one could get some interesting gameplay. Well done.
Nice game, I liked that you put a tutorial in the beginning. It took me a while to find all the items tho. Also I wish water can could carry more than one unit of water, I think it would be more satisfying.
@matank added some explanation to the description.
@aslan Great idea about the bucket. I totally agree. wanted to that as well then got sidetracked and forgot about it.
@pie0 Initial plan was to have each veggie to drop a different seed which would give a benefit other than restoring health. I like where you are going wit the crops turning into seeds.
@ominusgalaxy44 Tbh, I am still not so pleased with how the attacking turned out. Probably should have gone with mouse aim manual attacks like you suggested.
@patsui Thanks for the tip. It is my first jam or ever finishing a game at all.
@kizilejderha @justinmullin @moddingmachine @rustynoob @vaizaragorn
Thanks all for playing!
Nice intro and interesting concept so far
The game is nice, the hand-made graphics are nice, the music is nice but repetitive, and some sound effects are missing. It seems to be missing a win condition. good job
Congrats on finishing your first game and gamejam! It's definitely a bit rough with the combat and figuring out what to do, but I like that you started with a tutorial. I think to help with getting into it a delay before spawning/health decreasing to allow for explanation would have worked as I was too worried about killing the monsters to realise what to do haha.
Unfortunately it didn't load for me =/ (Chrome 108.0.5359.94 on Ubuntu 22)
PROS: -I liked the art style, I liked how the art was consistent too. -I liked the mechanic of killing enemies then planting seeds that you harvest -I liked that there was a tutorial, very helpful -The gameplay loop was good as it required you to properly manage your actions.
CONS: -I felt like the task of finding all the items was kind of pointless, as the items had no clues as to where theyd be and it felt like more of a chore. -The indicator for the health of the enemies I actually didn't even see until the second play, it could be better to have a health bar instead. -Small bug, the seeds I collected would persist from one game to the next.
Overall a great entry, very well polished :)
took two tries to find the water^^ don't mess with the angry tomatoes!
I really liked the way the vegetables look. I kind of wish that I had more control on scythe so it had more of a hack and slash feel
Our Fenasi died on the road to get the water.
I love the tutorial, simple but effective! The rest I can only congratulate you, you have to polish several aspects of the game but for your first participation in the Ludum Dare I find it fascinating!!
Cute game, I especially like the character designs :D The main gameplay loop is solid, just a little confusing at first (as others have already pointed out).
I think decreasing the amount of veggie NPC's (or their spawnrate, not sure how exactly the system works) and having them deal damage to the player would add an interesting additional layer to the gameplay. The main systems for that are already in place (collisions, player health, etc...) so it probably wouldn't be complicated to implement. Right now, the NPC's just kind of exist :D
Overall cool game, congrats!
Added a separate postjam version on which I added few of the initial ideas I had plus the recommendations made here. can play the postjam version here : https://htmlexportgamesa.z6.web.core.windows.net/postjam/index.html
@milq thank you. Using this as a way to learn Godot. @hoichael I could not add everything I had planned initiialy. Definitely made it too bigger than what it should it have been especially given that I am still new to this.
@eranot Not sure why it s not working for you. Perhaps try the postjam version. (I know it s not the same as what I submitted for the jam but at least...) Note to self to pay more attention to that for next time.
Thank you for playing
man, those tomatoes are scary! the core game loop is there. but what I notice is that I only tend to use one or two patches, because the time it takes to refill the bucket, is enough for the crops to grow. Maybe it would be interesting if it took them longer to grow and/or you would need to defend the patches in the mean time?
The mini-tutorial about controls was nicely done! That said the fact that the character is using the weapon automatically can be a bit confusing. Maybe some visual feedback when losing health would help the clarity of the game too? The vegetables graphics are fun :D Overall, nice work for such little time!
Nice art and music., but the design of the walls make it pretty unintuitive to go south, but apart from that the core gameplay loop is there. There really isn't much chance to use any of the other fields apart from the one closest to the water, since the bucket only lasts 1 use and the vegetables take too long to kill while blocking the player from moving to the other fields. Going to other fields is also unnecessary since the farms are ready to harvest really quickly.
A fun little game, I found the fact that you have to gather all the tools first a little unnecessary, but once you had them the game made sense. I played until all the enemies were defeated and harvested up to 100 life again. You might want to adjust the balancing a little bit, since I felt I spent the most time getting water. All in all a solid entry!
I played both the jam and post jam version, once I realised what to do I had a hectically fun time, nice job on both :)
Great game!
Nice game, kill enemies to get the seeds, then plant them.
The monsters are great. I harvested 13, but then there were no more monsters to harvest for seeds :(
I love the graphics, the idea is simple but works well. It's a bit unclear what to do if you don't read before playing, but besides that, good job!
I liked how you had to protect your town but you could also hide behind the town gate to safely take them out -created a fun balance of running back. I liked the monster veggies art and design too -great work on this! :D
At first I was a bit confused about what to do, or rather I was harvesting a lot of seeds but there seemed to be nothing I could do with them... then I found the bucket but that didn't help. So I had to read the instructions to find a way to work the fields, by that time I had almost 100 seeds
So I think the game has to help the player a bit more in finding the tools need by some means, the character could say something like "Where did I leave the pitchfork?" if one doesn't get it and has accumulated a few seeds.
Then, perhaps because my game was so unbalanced by many seeds, it sort of felt like the bucket could have lasted for watering more than one field.
Perhaps the monster veggies could mutate the crops too so that they become monsters rather than something to be eaten if one doesn't keep them off the fields that are growing or if one takes too long before harvesting crop that is "ready".
I also found a bug, perhaps. When retrying a second time, I already had all the tools and kept all the seeds from my previous attempt.
Really a cute game. There is some delay in the attack motion. And the vegetables' movements are a little bit blunt. But the design of the map and the "Fighting during planting" mechanic is great.
A solid entry! I liked the in-game tutorial, and the graphics were fun and immersive. Once I got the hang of it, it seemed too easy. I killed all the veggies and was just running back and forth from the water for most of it. The veggies stopped spawning so I could only max out at around 12 harvests due to running out of seeds. It would've been cool to have the game continue but get harder in some way (e.g. maybe veggies attack you or you have to venture around the map more to find what you need). All in all though a great start!
