The graphics and music make me happy) Great job!
Artistically the game is very nice. The idea fits the theme. I would have liked to have snappier controls. I also once got stuck below the pedestal where the enemies appear.
@octahedronsoftware Thanks for the feedbacks. I should probably have made the controls snappier indeed, since I made them early I got used to them as they are and didn't think about it.
@moomka thx for playing, glad you liked it. Last time I did a very dark game, so this time it's a very happy one :)
Really cool game!
Art and music are incredible for a compo game. Great job on those sounds too! I like the simple idea, and the cool little twists like the mushrooms that make you fly.
Thanks for the game!
I liked the graphics and the music, and the idea of an unstable potion is very accurate with the theme! I did not manage to last long without the potion to explode though ðŸ˜ðŸ§ªðŸ’¥
Love the nice touches like reactive grass and potion shader! First attempt I went in blind and didn't know what I was doing, but after reading the description instructions it became clear. Great job on the art and music!
Cute little game ! The graphics and music are awesome !
I love it! I'm surprised you made this all by yourself for the Compo! It's all so well done!
My only complaint is that the pedestal was kind of annoying to walk around - I kept thinking I could approach it from any angle when I could only enter and exit it from the side.
@jeremyfa Thanks for playing ! I prefer my games to be hard and quick so it doesn't take half a day to reach a challenging point (faster playtesting for me during dev and for you guys during rating phase), but maybe this one is a bit harsh ? I couldn't playtest it too much so it's very possible.
@irwatts Glad you noticed these little details :) Yeah reading the instructions isn't ideal, but a nice tutorial was out of budget on this one !
@fluffygamedev ty, glad you liked it !
@niterich Ahah thanks, for this game it was only things I've done multiple times before, so I ended up thinking very little but doing a lot of stuff. I should have made the pedestal highter so it becomes obvious that you have to take the stairs, that's a rooky misstake on my part (or make it smaller and accessible from all sides).
@yorsh Sure, there is no problem with the difficulty! I actually chose hard mode very quickly to have more challenge. I'm more thinking about finding ways to add variety, like maybe not only play with speed of typing, but with rythm of typing for example: someone telling you the letters in a specific rythm, and you need to follow that rythm etc... But of course that would go belong this ldjam entry :)
Edit: ahah my bad I mixed up your comment with another game I rated also about potion (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/$269058). You must have wondered if what I’m saying does make any sense 😆. I’ll have to try again your game to last longer anyway!
@jeremyfa Ahah no worries, It kind of made sense anyway, I assumed you gave a very specific example with a different kind of game^^ Thanks for the link, very fun to try a game with the same take on the theme but a very different game !
Really good looking graphics, and the game sounded good as well! One detail I really liked was how the different ingredients had their gameplay quirks, it really made the game feel a lot more dynamic. The damn crystals would never want to spawn when I needed them the most haha. Great game!
A very nice game .really fun to play
Hey there, fellow unstable potion theme :)
The graphics are incredible (especially for a compo entry!) and the idea is simple but fun. The only complaint I have is the mute button. It would mute the background music but not sound effects. Also after a while (or when collecting certain ingredients), the music came back.
A really nice game overall. Usually this type of games feel very static and boring but you managed to make it interesting with the enemies, the timer and the ingredients characteristics ( i managed to write that first try wow ).
Good job! Keep it up!
@zantze @ttu-hasan Glad you liked the game, thanks for playing !
@zsharpfire I was worried about that as well, I wasn't sure if I would have the time to make enough stuff to make it fun. Good job on your typing skills, that's not an easy wodr !
@heremeus Hey concotion brother ! I must try your game then :)
The fact that it only mute music is intended, I figured that you can mute it with your OS settings if you want to mute everything, this way you can mute the music if you have your own and still have the sfx. Maybe a full mute is more usefull ? The music coming back is weird tho, thanks for letting me know.
@yorsh ah fair enough. Maybe a separate button for SFX so people can tune it to their liking :)
I'm blown away by the sound and visuals of this game. It's also a pretty fun concept. If you had more time it would've been nice to spend some time optimizing for WebGL (since it was pretty laggy and I'm not on Windows). But man this was a really good entry.
@lb01 I actually un-optimized last minute cause it worked fine on my pc, so I boosted everything on the web version to try to reduce the differences with the desktop verion. May not have been my best move, sorry^^. Thanks for playing !
The graphics in this game are insane, as well as the sound work. Honestly, I can't imagine even trying to do something like this with 48 deadline.
Incredible work for a compo. This simply feels complete and ready for the world :O
Having said that, the only thing left to do is implement an online leaderboard!
Very polished game, especially on the visual part. The enemies look so cute, that I tried to touch them on the first meeting.
I really like the idea of an unstable potion and the controls were nice and smooth. I kept running into those little fuzzy monsters. Thanks for submitting a HTML5 and windows build. I like to play HTML5 if possible because it's quick but for some reason it was lagging in my browser. The windows build was such a smooth experience though.
@lesinvisible For this game I was fairly confident everything would workd as expected from the start, so I went a bit ambitious on the graphics (turns out I had trouble with my mouvement controller on slopes eheh). The sound tho turned out much better than I anticiped. Glad you liked it !
@trexxak I may come back to this little one someday to release it as a full (small) game, we'll see. Leaderboards are a neat thing to add, sadly that's the first thing that's left behind when time goes tight^^
@maus-games Ahah, they have a scary looking attack animation that I wanted them to do after a while, but couldn't implement it in time. So they just walk around a be cute forever.
@jayjack Yeah my HTML versions always suck as for some reasons they take forever to build on my pc, so as soon as it looks decent I don't bother optimizing too much. Glad you had a good time on the desktop version tho !
The music and sfx are both great - very enjoyable. Graphics are cool and I enjoy the color scheme. Everything works well, and I didn't run into any bugs.
The different effect that some ingredients have when you pick them up are super neat! Everything really feels polished and cohesive. Well done!
You have very cool visuals and nice controls. The general idea of the game is also good and fits the theme. It’s quite difficult to hold out longer, but it’s good, as it is challenging! I liked playing, it deserves good marks, in my opinion.
very nice graphics with a consistent style, nice job! The music was also pretty good.
I did run into a collision issue once though. I somehow got stuck on the lower left of the blue circle thing. I think what happened was I fell off the top, then tried to climb back on while still falling, then got stuck. A minor issue for sure though, I wasn't able to recreate it.
@fabula-rasa @goddoesplaydice Thanks for playing, happy to hear you had a good time :)
@c1fr1 It happened to me too once :(
My character controller wouldn't climp slopes nicely, so I quickly designed a fix, but it ended up behaving weirdly with the pedestal in the middle for some reasons. I'll have to fix this after the jam. Thanks for the feedbacks !
Fun little game. I _really_ dig the graphics, they are great! It took me a minute to figure out how exactly to play, but once I read the description it helped
I thought the music and sfx were really awesome.
I wish the different ingredients had a more pronounced effect on the mechanics. If there were changes I wasn't able to discern them much besides the jump effect.
I also had a case where the crystals spawned and sorta blocked me from a resource.
Overall I had fun. Great entry and well done!
That's a really fun and simple game!
Oh, very bright and friendly game! Fantastic athmosphere, graphics and music! Challenging and fun gameplay. Liked the variativity of components and their effects.
But I think there is a lack of game goal. Like you just walking around and finding needed components, without concrete goal. Maybe need to make components collection optinal? And on the other hand add your potion some negative effect (like movespeed slowing, or some visual problems) and you MAY collect components to prevent these effects. As for me, it would be more intersting and variably
Anyway, good job!
@adrenallen Yeah I wanted to add special effects to the tears and toad, but ran short on time sadly :( For the effects that are actually in game, you can use the roots to kill monsters, and crystals simply spawn underneath you and break when picked up (thus you can pick them up to clear the way if they block you). Thanks for trying the game !
@dcrdro Negative effects would be a cool addition to a post jam version if I ever do one indeed. For the game goal, I much prefer to have some sort of ending at some point rather than a simple scoring system, but the scoring system is like 10 times faster to make :D. Thanks for the feedbacks and ideas !
@rayqdr That was my goal with the game, glad you liked it :)
Cute game with great visuals, sounds and atmosphere. I got to 197. It's great you can get rid of the monsters with the dynamite sticks, otherwise the game would get too hard too soon.
Good job! Very nice game. It looks GREAT, very clean and styling looking. The game is simple but feels pretty good to move around and stuff. I didn't understand the objective at first; I needed to go back and read the game page. I wish there was a little more to do than run from point to point but game jams gonna game jam lol
Good job overall, very cute!
@flying-dog-fish well played, thanks for playing !
@ismael-rodriguez I should have probably dropped a shader or two to save time for some kind of explanations/tutorial, but I couldn't stand those trees and grass staying perfectly still ! I may come back to this one after the jam to add a little something to do, but that definetly wasn't happening during the jam^^
Nice graphics and sound effect. I dig the animations and particle effects! Took me a while to understand the game, but once I did, I had fun. The mushrooms making everyone jump was a nice touch.
A cute little game, the one hit kill with the enemies is a bit harsh but I liked the visuals and music! Also it fits the theme nicely, well done!
