cute and nice animations, so can you influence the evolutions? there's lots of placeholder screens in the house, is that just unfinished?
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD38 → Flurpies

@Spinaljack hey, thank you! So the only thing you choose in the beginning really is color, everything else is random. And yeah, those were place-holder screens, we will upload an updated version with those taken out because it gets annoying to accidentally click on them and they don't serve much purpose (:
Nice job Gumboot! It was super cute, I really liked the soundtrack, and I love the idea of a virtual pet adventure! My only critique is that as you evolve, your jump becomes too high! A shorthop would have been nice.
Great fun! Nice art style!
@jhandsy @fixedgerald Hey thanks a bunch!! and out of three characters you can get you actually get a different jump height with each one.. I know the bunny can triple jump so that may be a bit over the top, we will play around with it to see if we can get a better balance.
The pet-raising-adventure genre is a great idea indeed, and the game is very cute and clean. A small environment that you expend and discover more and more trough your pet competences, like what you have with the jump height between the first and second generation, may be pushed further. Bravo !
Thanks so much! @la-mecanique-du-plastique It seems like the goals we had when we started this game were clear to you and that's very exciting. Ideally in a non jam version it would be paced a bit slower with more direct relation between Flurpie evolution and environment exploration.
I adore this, I can see the thought and effort that went into it. The gameplay is simple but satisfying. The music and art are so pleasant. I was excited to find out how my Flurpie would evolve! I also liked how new food becomes avilable the more you play. Great stuff!
Thanks so much @antaresvaldemar ! I also adore Keypuppers by the way haha, have been keeping an eye on it, it's just too cute and fun. I'm glad what we wanted the game to be comes across c:
I've commented on your post before, but I'll also comment on your game for good measure. Great game, cute flurpies, small world ---> basically a great entry for LD38 :-)
Dude this game is awesome! Congrats:)
Really liked the art style and humour, and I'm impressed at how you've managed to make such a fleshed out pet sim game in such a short time!
This is pretty sweet! Although once I realized it was possible to leave the house, I didn't need to spend any time at all in the house; it was just, leave, get enough xp to evolve, return, evolve, leave, get enough xp to evolve, return, evolve, leave, get enough xp to evolve, return, win the game. If you still had reasons to return to the house, that'd be good.
@philomory Thanks, and yes! that's definitely an issue we were discussing while creating the game. I have an idea that if your status indoors (tiredness and such) affect your performance outdoors (slower, weaker) then you would have more reason to go back and spend some time with your Flurpie. Hopefully we can play with it and find a balance, thanks for the feedback!
@xavier-indie-gamedev wow thanks a bunch! and the and the answer to the pet sim game is.. no sleep at all haha.
@king-kujito hehe, that's so nice, I appreciate it ( :

Music is nice. Art is funny. Good job!
Nice work! I hope to begin my own virtual pet game soon, so this was very inspiring!
I believe the windows executable version has the hatching broken as I couldn't get it to hatch no matter how fast I clicked. The web version works fine. Other than that, cute adorable graphics and everything I would expect from virtual pet simulator gameplay wise. I wasn't sure how to increase happiness though.
I confirm the bug of the windows version, I tried a lot to hotch my egg. But the bar never filled... But after seeing the comment of @listonos, I played the web version and that was cool!
Original, but not really challenging, because all the stat reset after evolve, so we don't really have to worry about the pet needs... Also, the third form has hitbox issues.
But nice idea, cool graphics, music, and cute game!
This was *really* complex game  Congrats!
I love the connection between virtual Tamagotchi and a platformer game, where you can benefit from evolving yourself. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to make stats draining themselves outside the house as well if it'd be well balanced.
Besides that, the game has very nice colors, cute graphics, and cool audio. One thing that could be improved, in my opinion, is level design, but I'm still amazed by what you've managed to get done during 72 hours.
PS: in windows version, it was impossible for me to hatch the egg. Web version worked fine.
@dunin @tommyno222 @listonos hey guys thanks for everything! (: we will definitely get that windows version working, thanks for the feedback on the problem!
nice game, it really has potential and cool vibe
my only complaint is that there is no indication as to what influences the evolution (I fed my creature with everything ;)
Played til the end, was fun to see how my flurpie evolved, the only thing that bothered me was that i was repeating the same platformer level every time for experience. And there seemed to be not much motivation to say inside. Nice music, cute graphics, felt pretty polished. well done
well done! the art is touching and it is fun to observe the little creature.
Great idea, just a little sad that you can skip caring for your flurpie entirely if you just go adventuring to get through the evolutions.
Other than that great grapics and sound and also a lot of things to do to keep things interesting.
Lovely graphics, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmUpejMpTcM
I loved the idea! Nice work!
Great combination of keeping your cute player alive and going outside on a little adventure! Really enjoy all the small things! Especially the pooping haha! Cute Pixelart, great colors and a great soundtrack! Just a small thing, I think the player could move a bit faster All in all, lovely game!
I also included your game in an article of my favorites here: http://fireside.gamejolt.com/post/jam-favorites-ludum-dare-38-vepwgamy
