Beautiful art, sprites, and mood . Really makes me curious about the robot's backstory and more lore.
Yessss, I'm a sucker for raycasting! I struggled a little initially figuring out what I was supposed to be doing, but once those (robot squids?) started threatening MY generator, I kicked into action.
Really simple but has intuitive gameplay and a really good mood/tone, graphics, and audio; sound effects and music! Really good job!
Nice work! I think the palette and artstyle looked really good, and I liked the subtle lighting effect based on where your robot was.
More instructions would have been appreciated, as I eventually figured out on my own that there was just one meter that I had to keep from hitting zero (either from firing too much or from enemies reaching the center). I think the balance is kind of tricky right now, as it's much easier to deplete the power from shooting than from enemies hitting the center. It makes you really want to conserve your shots and I'm not sure if that's the feel you want!
I also was confused at first because it takes a while for the first enemy to spawn (for me) so I was shooting houses at first trying to figure out what to do. I think an in-game tutorial would brighten up a lot of this!
Hey, good game there! Nice music and art, I really like it, the 8-bit theme, ha ha.. For more improvement, maybe you want to add some navigation map (or just arrow pointing) to see enemy the out from screen. In addition, you might want to make the generator smaller, so it's more fun to navigate the map..
Very tough game, but I enjoyed it once I figured it out. The enemies took a very long time to spawn however and I almost quit because nothing was happening and I didn't know what to do. A short little blurb about what to do would be very helpful, as well as explaining controls. A little refinement and you'll have a great little arcade game :)
I'm not entirely sure what to do - I killed some monsters and picked up what I presume were power that they dropped, but still ran out of power quickly?
That got tense quick, I like it
Cute game! Sadly, I immediately killed myself on the first try because I couldn't see monsters, so I just kept shooting. In general I felt like I died more from shooting too much rather than by being attacked. I think this would be a lot more fun without the shots taking away power, or maybe if they took away a lot less power.
Nice choice in your colour palette :)
I liked the style, could have used little bit more gameplay polish.
The art is great, the gameplay is hard enough to keep player entertained. I think the music is a little bit repetitive, but overall I liked the game. Good job!
Very charming little arcade game. Just a couple of heads up: 1) After the game ends, any orbs laying around will persist to the next game. 2) You can actually hit enemies which are out of bounds, I dunno if that was intentional.
Anyways, good job!
Nice game. Threw me for a loop the first couple of rounds when the power went out on me. I was blasting away killing all the mecha-squids. Just... laying into them bullet after bull... ohhhh.
Having to be conservative with my shots gave the game a slightly more interesting edge than many games of this style where you can get away with just blasting away.
Graphics and sound were nice. If I had a recommendation it would be to separate out the health of the power-plant or do something like lower the maximum health. I found it a bit too easy to "repair" by killing the attackers. I feel like letting the enemies get to the generator should have more permanent repercussions.
Very impressive that this was a compo! I loved the lighting effects
@holysparks Thanks so much, I noticed the persisting bug long after the submission hour had ended lol! After all it's a compo game bugs will happen :)
@bilbycoder I totally agree! Making the generator more important would be my focus if I was to go back and build upon the game.
