LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Benefice by JustinMullin 2018-12-06T03:54:15Z

Took me awhile to figure out what to do, then I got the hang of it. The beginning was rough, but once it starts to progress it becomes pretty easy to maintain. Overall it was a fun experience and I ended up playing it longer than I thought I would.

Effigies by Geckoo1337 2018-12-08T23:03:36Z

You weren't kidding when you said this was hard. Ended up getting to the last level before quitting. Really well done for a puzzle game.

Sacrifice Ranch by eroxxie 2018-12-04T07:44:01Z

Took me awhile to figure out how to grow plants. I think part of the problem was the plants not growing after sleeping. After I figured out that they grew based on time played, it was pretty easy. Was able to get well past 12000 on day 5.

The graphics and music really went with the mood. The faces growing in the ground were so cute that I almost forgot how dark the game was for making you kill them.

Escape of the Cheese Droid by dob 2018-12-08T05:56:00Z

Haha. This game was just plain silly. I especially found it hilarious at the end where you had to use cheese as a mode of transportation. The game really made you think about which part you should sacrifice next.

Planet 43 by MyFriendTames 2018-12-03T21:26:03Z

Took a few tries to get used to the flow of the game. Got a score of 12000+ before it felt repetitive. Would have loved to see more progression. Really cute game, though.

Eradicator by Linky439 2018-12-08T23:26:11Z

One of my favorite little touches you made to the game was that the people ran faster when they heard a shot. The crowds of people were really well handled and I spent one of my playthroughs just killing as many people as I could haha. I really like how you handled the theme of "sacrifices must be made" by having collateral damage. Overall really fun to play.

Space Station Gamma-7 by kelbg 2018-12-08T06:12:04Z

Controlling the player was a bit frustrating. I often felt like I was going in directions I didn't want to go. I did like the use of colors and lighting, though. Had a really nice atmosphere.

Mary had some lamb to spare by 100th_Coin 2018-12-06T06:40:09Z

It was really frustrating throwing the sheep, and sometimes your mouse would be right on top of the sheep and you still couldn't throw them. I had to look through the comments to see that you had to be right next to the sheep.

It took me about 10 tries to defeat the first boss. Decided to ignore the more exotic sheep in favor of the smaller ones since they seemed to die right away when the fist crushed them. It also made clicking the sheep much easier when you had 100+ little sheep. Eventually I beat the game using this strategy.

However, the graphics and music were great. It felt really well polished. I think the quality of the game was what kept me trying to finish it despite the frustrations I was having.

Fenik by Kataware 2018-12-08T06:31:41Z

Wow. I'm impressed at how much you were able to put into the game in such a short time. Unlocking new abilities and testing them out was fun. I really enjoyed playing this one.

Dungeon of Sacrifice by kantieno 2018-12-06T05:20:31Z

Cool idea for the theme. Took a few tries, but I finally beat the boss. At the beginning, I was choosing to open all the chests because the wounds seemed to have little effect, but after the wounds started piling up is when I knew I needed to skip some chests.

Flaming Resistance by C1FR1 2018-12-08T06:45:38Z

The movement felt a little slow, but it really added to the feeling of fear that the game had. I ended up playing it 10 times until ending with a high score of 41 by making careful use of weapons.

Plushie Piler by shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04T07:36:10Z

Really enjoyed the puzzle elements of this game. It's neat how many ways you have to use your plushies to clear obstacles. I got stuck about 2 levels after you get the purple plushie.

Tiny square - Ludum dare 43 by Shahroz Khan 2018-12-04T06:44:51Z

Had trouble figuring out where to go or what to do. Collected a few power ups, though. Could probably be improved by not letting the player go behind the black borders of the screen since it was frustrating trying to jump over blocks I couldn't see.

Threadpoint by mike_inPrinciple 2018-12-04T07:00:03Z

Really great graphics and sound. Unfortunately, it felt like the obstacle were coming in too fast and with the curve of the track blocking the view there wasn't much time to react.

ChosenProtector by Suchista 2018-12-09T00:06:49Z

This was a nice twist on the tower defense games I've seen. You're trying to let people through instead of stopping them. It was really fun and kept me engaged even though I couldn't beat easy mode. The main complaint I have is that it took me awhile to figure out what each tower did. I think a description should show up when you hover over the tower you're selecting.

Flocked by Ice Maker 2018-12-04T20:41:10Z

The graphics were fun and cute. Killing the sheep felt satisfying and I liked that some were hidden behind the building. Got a high score of 20. My main complaint, though, is that the mouse tends to go off screen if you're not careful which causes the window to go unfocused. It would be great if you could go fullscreen or restrict the mouse to the window.

Floofs by kaeveris 2018-12-04T21:12:23Z

Of all the games I've played so far this one made me feel the most. It was so sad having to kill off the floofs :'(. It made really great use of the theme. When playing the game, it was kinda frustrating aiming since lining up the with the floof didn't always guarantee that you would hit it. There were also times when where I lost because there was only one blue floof left, but I needed to kill a blue spike.

Offshoot by Owen Rees 2018-12-05T21:03:20Z

Had a hard time at first, then I spawned with minigun on my leg and literally flew through the levels. Decided to play it a second time without the minigun on the leg since it seemed a bit easy. Still kept the minigun on my arm since it felt like the most powerful weapon. This was a great concept and very fitting of the theme.

Fruitful Reward by Mohrro 2018-12-08T05:41:50Z

The controls were simple and the game felt really polished. On some of the harder levels, it became a balance of whether to kill or to sacrifice since many enemies could fill the screen while you took the time to sacrifice them.

Broken people by WTMK_BK 2018-12-04T20:54:21Z

Interesting abstraction of an argument. Understanding how love and pride worked took some getting used to, but it became more enjoyable the more I started to understand it. I also like the unique gameplay of clicking on the falling colored cubes and how you were able to add more difficulty by changing the falling pattern.

Dungeon Sacrificer by Ancalagon 2018-12-05T23:54:25Z

This game showed some promise, and it's impressive for the amount of time you had. In general I felt like there was a lack of feedback. For example, when you speak to people, clicking the mouse doesn't advance the text, and the text bubble just sticks around. I figured out that you have to press the spacebar. Another example is that I couldn't press escape to see a menu of any kind, or to see the keybindings again. Little things like this will go a long way toward making your games feel more polished.

As far as gameplay, it wasn't bad. But I admit I didn't make it through the first dungeon. Most guys took a long time to kill, and the shield that I bought didn't really seem to do anything. Finally, when I got to the tornado boss, I was never able to damage him at all. I'm still not sure if I was supposed to actually kill him, but my sword never seemed to do anything.

I will say the music/audio was very good! I liked how the music changed when I got to the boss room.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Dungeon of Forking Paths: Chapter 41 "Undeground Love" by Listonos 2018-04-23T22:45:12Z

The integration of dungeon crawling and dating sim is very well done! The humor was really great and it looks like you put a lot of thought into it.

Wonky Farm Dance Party by Egon 2018-04-23T18:25:33Z

Excellent graphics and dialog. The platforming gameplay is really well done, but the "rhythmic puzzle and plot generation" only seem loosely tied in.

63 Little Pieces by SamuelSousa 2018-04-23T20:20:42Z

Took me awhile to figure out that you could shoot away blocks. I think level 10 is the first time you need to use it to get 3 stars. The idea, though is fantastic and feels really polished!

RMTCA by senior_sigan 2018-04-23T21:34:26Z

Great game! Got a score of 74. I didn't know how to change pieces, so I shot off to the side to get a new random piece.

LDPD-Blues by gilborn 2018-04-24T16:48:24Z

I know you said you ran out of time to make more levels, but the great gameplay made me want to keep going. It's nice to see a shooter game that lets you take a break between shooting.

Duality by freso 2018-04-24T22:20:50Z

When the theme was announced, I didn't expect them to be combined this way, but it was a pleasant surprise. Playing single player was a bit of a challenge, and I think the friction on the platformer part was a bit too inconsistent and slippery. Ended up with a high score of 547.

Rythmer by TheWGBbroz 2018-04-23T20:02:54Z

I like the idea and music. Took awhile to figure out where the beat was, but even after that it was rather difficult.

Ratatosk by TheFlyingKeyboard 2018-04-23T20:49:45Z

I really like the concept of drawing cards to perform actions mixed with platforming. Although, the jump seems to lift you too high off the ground, so I'm mostly in the air and not getting to use attacks cards accidentally landing on off-screen spikes.

CastleTris by JackKm 2018-04-24T05:19:22Z

Like the idea. It's like playing 2 games at the same time. A bit too hard for me, though.

Clone. Jump. Die. by Kaje Cimhael 2018-04-23T18:49:28Z

Really like the game and concept!

Rogue Crush by Team Catwheel 2018-04-23T22:27:27Z

Normally not a fan of match color games, but mixing it with a rogue-like style makes for a surprisingly good game! The graphics, sound, and gameplay are all really well done!

Typical by Magnega 2018-04-23T21:18:11Z

This is really well done! Everything feels so smooth and complete.

Super Slime Slasher Ultra by sebastianscaini 2018-04-24T04:27:52Z

Played for awhile, but couldn't figure out what the incentive was for matching colors since the score didn't go up. After some time it felt somewhat repetitive. Other than that the gameplay was very smooth and enjoyable even using mouse and keyboard rather than controller. The graphics and audio really great and fit really well together.

SquashEmUp by Polymo 2018-04-23T19:54:26Z

Surprisingly fun. The ricochet concept gives it a nice twist.

Flong! by Mil 2018-04-23T19:46:09Z

Love the concept! The bird often got stuck in the bottom, though.

Your Turn To Jump by Jequed 2018-04-24T19:53:19Z

@GexAlmighty Good idea. The page has been updated with some screenshots.

Gradris by Ben F 2018-04-23T23:00:29Z

This is the twist on tetris that I never knew I wanted! It's so ridiculous but it works so well!
