LD38 — A Small World

Planet Rush: Save the Moiks! by FerNandXor 2017-04-25T14:17:55Z

Thank you both! @thecrancher: indeed, some asteroids left shits after explode, but not always. Not enough time to balance the challenge, but at least you can play for some minutes. My record is 5:33:26 :) PD: and yes, asteroids only harms earth when hits its surface, not buildings, so you can get some strategy rotating the planet to use less valuable buildings as a shield.

Dipsomaniac by Junber 2017-12-07T23:12:48Z

A very, veeery enjoyable game. Original, well executed mechanics, fine graphics with cool drunk effects, almost everything is perfect. One of the best I've played so far. BTW: I was getting all the references before the barmans tell, even the Tommy Wiseau one xD. I won at my second try, I'm good at drinking, I guess!

Werewolf Village Attack by Marco 2017-12-06T12:58:32Z

I don't want to sound too harsh, but this game is a perfect example of what happens when you aim a bit too high on a Jam. Let me explain: has a lot of potential, but I can hardly enjoy all these great 3D stuff and atmosphere because of the rushed mechanics, something common in a jam, though. Interaction with doors and npcs is not clear at first, despite of the controls help menu. Wolves come constantly from everywhere just at start with no time to react (and later they get stucked on walls, just a bug I guess). You run out of ammo in seconds, and the slow manual reloads makes things even worse. It should be a bit more paced, IMO. On the good side, graphics are amazing for a 48 hours game, and sound design is very well implemented. Kudos for that!

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-06T20:01:11Z

Cool concept. Toys give a nice/creepy touch. Controls are a bit off, sometimes got unresponsive. Just glad to play such a bizarre concept :D

Lapped by somethinboutgames 2017-12-06T12:11:10Z

As others mention, is a good implementation of the basic premise. Overall I found it a good game, but it has two main flaws: the lack of music and FX (obvious) and the start point every lap you do. I got frustrated everytime I complete a lap, because your ghosts appear almost the same starting point as you, no matter what speed you have, and that kills me every time, it's the only design decission I found tricky. Otherwise, nice game dude!

RE-SANTA by Thygrrr 2017-12-09T16:25:09Z

Great entry! Love the visual style, and is pretty original. Congrats!

NeonTropics by neontropics 2017-12-08T13:33:32Z

I played web version. Game runs well, but I discovered by accident that you can change levels using number keys. I never needed to kill enemies, so.

For Better or For Worse by valandre 2017-12-08T17:12:41Z

I can't believe this is a LD game. Awesome work!

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-07T22:10:53Z

As others pointed I don't quite see the ludum theme here, and music is... "a bit" ripped, but I enjoyed it a lot, very funny concept, and graphics are pretty cool! Congrats!

Flirt the(m)all by themarioga 2017-12-06T11:54:05Z

Cool concept, a bit rushed backgrounds but good art overall. Only bad thing I could mention is that I found it a bit confusing, not sure if I'm doing it wright or not, needs some feedback. Besides that, Nice work.

Billy the giant hates dancing paragliders on a boat by Rombus 2017-12-08T00:19:08Z

I liked the concept. The theme is well executed, I love pixel art, and the music is totally retro. But for the cons, I found it a bit simplistic, I would add some mechanical depth appart from the telechinesis, like some kind of item, or so. I mean, I just ran from one side to another constantly, with no skill needed to pick up dancing paragliders, just pressing a button and going back and forth, knowing that paragliders make you drown sooner or later. I enjoyed it for a while, though. I just need something more that keeps me playing again and again, knowing that I'm really getting better, not just random luck. At least is how I felt it. That said, overall is a nice game, I appreciate the work.

Home Raider by Rongo Matane 2017-12-06T18:53:44Z

Nice game overall. The npc movements is a bit random and frustrating sometimes, I'd put more visual feedback of their vision range, but is a good work.

Mister Maître by FerNandXor 2017-12-06T18:37:23Z

Thanks for your comments. BTW, my current record is 74 glasses :)

The secret is using plate tilting to compensate movement, and make 3 or more delivers, trying to put 11 glasses or so in every delivery. But I don't know, may be others find a better way to improve score :D

Mister Maître by FerNandXor 2017-12-06T20:10:09Z

Thanks for your review @rongo-matane!

Indeed, it has sound and music. I'm using Chrome, and works well. May be depends on your browser, I don't know if GameMaker has some issue on specific configurations.

About controls, I tried to use Mouse movement to tilt the plate instead of using more keys, but GM has a bug related to mouse tracking on HTML5, so I was forced to discard that decission :(

Mister Maître by FerNandXor 2017-12-07T21:55:19Z

@fylipp and @bismark, @elemental-zeal-game-studios, @amigopadilha, @local-minimum, thanks to all for your feedback!

@amigopadilha are you tilting the plate with cursor keys? Also try not to hold movement, and give quick presses instead to gain some velocity. Thanks for playing!

@local-minimum, I thought about that, with more reactions even for the main character, but I was running out of time so I had to leave it out the game. I take note for the last advice. Thanks a lot for your extended review!

@ramza @regisrquoi @kodiqi Thank you very much for your replies :)

Western Hero by Guilb 2017-12-06T18:19:51Z

Very good game, It keeped me playing until I defeat it. Music doesn't fit the style, though, and the Ludum theme is not as present as I'd like. Any way, great work!

You can't have too many cats by mollekake 2017-12-06T12:26:30Z

I like a lot the funny cat-killer concept, and I love pixel art well done. For the cons, the ludum premise is a bit weak here, and collision with walls is also a bit tricky. Overall is a nice game, congrats!

Starbage Man by BryceLTaylor 2017-12-08T00:02:47Z

I really like the idea, but I found myself lost with all these mixed mechanics, with just some cartoonish guy explaining them (which is neat and I love it, but not enough to replace visual feedback). Also controls and/or collisions inside the ship are a bit unresponsive sometimes. I got lost all the time flying around the ship and finally got bored :( As I said, the voice acting, is a great detail, but that caused me some issues too, you should avoid player actions while cutscene is on screen. May be I'm a pretty lame player, I don't know. Is just my subjective opinion. Just take it in count (or not!) for your next game, or for this if you plan to improve it. Anyway, I can see there's work here, son Kudos for that.

Leaf Me Alone by Ryfi 2017-12-07T23:32:41Z

Not a bad game, but has some room for improvement. I never had to use space key, and I made 96 points only because of an incoming log (which is a little tricky cause the lack of feedback, weird sound appart). I just walked left and right so I felt the main mechanic a bit weak, I would have added something like a temporal power up like a leaf blower os something like that. The ludum theme is very well implemented here though, and the title is pretty smart :)

Lil' Justin's Fame Escape by spierek 2017-12-06T17:47:27Z

A very fun game with perfect match for the "the more you have, the worse it gets" premise. Best game I've tried so far :)

Stranger Danger: A Nightly Visit by Nilsson 2017-12-08T13:24:46Z

I beat the game (played on Web), a bit easy and short to my taste, but fine concept. I found a bug: when you are detected, enemies walk through walls. Also, interaction triggers should be improved, sometimes in front of a door and I can't do anything but move around until it shows. The light effect is well implemented, music and fx are pretty atmospheric.

For The Tribe by Michael Gor 2017-12-08T00:36:32Z

After completing all the simbols, I saw a dragon and a giant tentacle, but I'm still wondering if that's the end of the game, which is definitively a flaw. I'm playing a lot of games lacking a lot of feedback, and you must remember that these are videogames, and rules or mechanics should be visually explained somehow, in an implicit or explicit way. On the good side, I found it original and interesting, graphics are good, and music is catchy. Nice work :)

unBLOCK the exit! by fjlucas 2018-04-23T21:10:41Z

Great entry, very cool mix of mechanics!
