I was left without the ability to question people after talking to the receptionist, but dammit it, this game is funny, what I put together from the dialog I read... on a clear (almost summery) day, at an office xmas party, a lady is found dead by her boss Brent. He reports the murder to the police (as any sane man would), however the woman answering the phone is just the north side of desperate and starts hitting on him!
The voice acting was a nice touch, I hope you fix the issues you've noted, I'd love to play through the enter thing.
Oh my god this game is stressful, the constant flow of the water is just horrifying, and no matter how much I try to plan ahead, I always manage to stuff it up, it's so scary.
@valicitor: were you playing in the browser? The windows version there is out of date (im updating now), but I don't have any problems on the webGL version... if you can figure out what caused it, I'd love to get it fixed.
@toestee yes i agree :P
@stoogebag: yes I was using the browser version, it was right after I had finished talking to the receptionist, I could move to different rooms but I was unable to talk to Brent, the salesman or the receptionist again.
Hi @valicitor. I have identified and fixed a bug that may have been yours: unfortunately it's impossible to know for sure :( hopefully everything is now working for you. If not, then let me know exactly how it's triggered and i'll get to it.
This time I completed it, great point and click game, still a small bug remaining, I was able to talk to Boss Brent whilst in the sales room, but bug aside, it's a good game! Damn it all though, my money was on the salesman... my untrusting nature towards salesmen was exploited.
Hardcore, I love it
Interesting game, liked the art style. I did find one bug though: There's a mysterious door labeled "22" in Brent's office.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have fixed a bug that would cause some objects to not be properly destroyed when leaving rooms (eg the mystery door in Brant's office).
Best game I played so far! This really is my kind of humour haha. Especially the watermark joke was way too good! I tried to discover all conversation options because of the great voice acting.
Well done!
This is great, nice art style and cleverly made. The audio is superb and the whole thing just made me feel really happy to be playing! Well done, this is an insanely strong entry for a compo!!
I love the dialogues! <3
Whoa! Game is great, art and music creates the right mood. I like your voice acting! (And humor) ))) Anyways, one of the top rated entry so far! Keep it up!
Best adventure game I have played in a game jam! I had a good laugh at the dialogue. Thank you for making this game, it was great!
Wow, this is by far the best game i played. The dialogues are amazing. I have no idea how you could make this in two days.
Awesome! The voice overs were really funny and the game was quite extensive for such a short development time. The story is also very interesting. I had much fun, thanks ;)
Little bug (Web, Chrome on Win10): Sometimes the audio stopped too early or didn't even start (which led to the text disappearing way too fast).
OMG, Luke's joke about spilling his drink. Out of the whole game, definitely my favorite joke. The voicing was also a treat, even if sometimes the voicing and the text didn't keep pace with each other properly.
Regarding the graphics, I've been scolded in the past for using public domain material like that in the Compo (fine in the Jam), so though I don't personally have a problem with it, I believe it's against the rules (or at least it _was_, back in LD17).
My only real complaints were A) the way you got kicked out of conversation and had to restart it after each time you asked about something from the notebook, B) the way you never could ask anyone about clues, only about other people, and C) the fact that sometimes there was no "goodby" option (in this case, the fastest way to end the conversation was to exploit A).
Other than that, though, great game. I played it all the way through.
Thanks everyone for playing and for the feedback!
@smbe19 you are able to click through the dialogue, so if you spam the mouse it might skip before you realise (or it might be a bug, but I can't see it. if you have more detail I'd love to fix it)
@philomory i'm not sure to be honest about the art. with the filters and photoshopping i've done, i consider it a derivative work and so i feel morally ok, but i don't really know. for A), this is a combination of a technical issue and a lack of time, but i more or less agree. B) isn't quite true: some clues you can ask about (for example, you can ask Adriana about her affair). Generally speaking i would have liked to have more responses for clues and people, so that's a valid complaint. There are lots of cases where it would make sense that they should respond, but I ran out of time. C) agree, I will probably add a permanent 'leave conversation' option similar to the notebook option.
@stoogebag Oh, it's definitely fine from a moral standpoint, these are definitely derivative works. It's just that, per the rules (as I understand them), derivative works are not allowed in the Compo, only the Jam. That said, it really doesn't bother me, I was just offering you a heads up since I was burned in the past. Honestly, though, it seems the rules on that may have been relaxed some since then. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
This is some creative way to approach the topic. I find it refreshing and funny. Cool work!
LOL
This game is very Fun. I've liked your voices and conversations. The notebook is a little bit bugged, sometimes it didn't appear! But this is ok.
Good job!
This was an awesome game, the dialogs were hilarious and it was really fun to try find clues about the murder. It felt really polished for a Ludum Dare game and the length was good too. Not sure why but sometimes the voice acting just ended before the text had been read completely without me doing anything. Having a button to cancel the conversation would also be a plus.
Very interesting take on the theme aswell. Although one thing that could be made more clear is that the options available to talk about in the notebook should be highlighted but that's just a minor detail. Excellent job!
I laughed my ass off the entire time, awesome voice work and script, really loved it! And I'm married to the job, too, no matter how great a dessert she is ;)
Not much else to say, it's great as it is. At some point, there was a bug that caused the Small World Agency to appear twice in the notebook, but no biggie. UI-wise I would probably gray out the topics you cannot ask a witness about after clicking the "ask sth from the notebook" option.
Excellent job, I felt Police Quest made a comeback there! <3
Help! How do you ask someone about a clue? Hovering over a clue brings up the same information no matter who you're speaking to. Is that what's supposed to happen or is there supposed to be a different pop-up for each person? Clicking the clue does nothing. Trying to drag to the conversation doesn't do anything either. I'm playing the web version.
Hi @howardcs, unfortunately most of the clues have no response since I ddn't have a lot of time.
CLICKING on the clue or person's name during a conversation will ask them about it IF there is a response. Asking about people is more likely to get results than clues. I will add something that says 'there is no answer' or something so that this issue doesn't come up.
Thanks for the feedback :)
I just played for a bit but... this is hilarious. The first "cut scene" with the phone call sold this game to me. Good job on getting all the art done yourself :P the dialogues sometimes were so bad they were good, and I think that was the idea?
Also good job for doing actual point and click game. I'm not sure if I like your interpretation of the theme or not though.
I'm impressed that you crammed this much into the game in 48 hours. I especially liked the watermark joke. I think that you did a pretty good job with the story, too. Not too obvious, but I knew what direction I wanted to take the conversations. The voice acting was funny, but I think the clips cut out during the last couple seconds instead of finishing entirely. That little bug made it tough to feel immersed. All in all this was a really cool game. Great work.
Hello, I already have it, I work at ecommerce. It is important to be ready for increasing sales by the way. Good customer support matters, because the satisfied clients would be back to your site again and again. Well, selling products online has its pros and cons, of course. In our pandemic times, it is very actual, I recommend you to go to this site https://wow24-7.io . It is a good option to make your job easier, especially if you have a small business or run it yourself.
Thanks for sharing the information. I think it should be very interesting and informative. If I had time off work, I would definitely try to install this game because I like detectives and find-and-click games. I think it's one of the best options for a weekend getaway, either with friends or alone. Is it taxed in some way or is this game completely free? Should I use my income tax return calculator to calculate the possibility of a loss? try it here https://taxfyle.com/income-tax-return-calculator How long has this game been released? Thank you for your reply!
