LD42 — Running out of space

Last Stand by 0xDD 2018-08-15T22:39:18Z

The game doesn't have a lot going on, but I think I see the potential. I recommend if you haven't check out Downwell, I think if you take the simplicity implementation of strategy mechanics and attempt to squeeze functionality out of each you could have something unique and interesting. A prime example of this in your game is how the enemies walking has multiple functions first with the electrical pylon or how you contextual functionality for spawning in towers then upgrading them with the same type of mouse click. There is room for a simple yet complex strategy game here that I like. I hope you keep at it, cheers mate!

Ludum Dare Simulator 2019 by samboyer276 2018-08-15T22:27:29Z

The accuracy of simulations is getting out of hand. Soon you'll have to control each individual persons biological functions at a microscopic scale. The most polished and complete experience I've played yet 42/10.

memBrain by Sciman101 2018-08-14T05:30:35Z

A cassette tape robot, I instantly love this game its original and looks great. Besides a minor gripe with the error sound my main critique is the gameplays balancing, I like your concept, but by the time I got 2 keycards and a code I felt like it got kinda stale and was just a lot of deleting rooms as I backtracked to the keycard doors. I think the gameplay would function a lot better with more tightly made puzzle experiences instead of the procedural feel it has now. With a focused experience I think that would take the game to the next level. Overall still awesome!

Tale of the Bagger: A Love Story by trozen 2018-08-14T05:12:56Z

Really well polished I played for about 10 or so levels, was hoping for some story elements the titled hinted at. Thea surprising amount of mechanics helped boost the game to that next level. Overall great work!

Night Shift by lootgrounds 2018-08-15T22:16:57Z

You absolutely nailed the atmosphere of this game, with some polish and more content this is probably the best title I've played of the Jam yet.

Claustrochlophoby by cepeka 2018-08-14T05:01:14Z

I really liked the graphical style cool to see a playstation-esque 3D entry. My gameplay experience consisted almost solely of walking around punching my way through the crowd not realizing what to do, still had a good time.

Three Men in a spaceship (To Say Nothing of the AI) by d954mas 2018-08-15T21:54:38Z

I really like the premise and think its the best contributing factor to the game. The gameplay feels like its suppose to be this balancing act, but doesn't feel like the player contributes much to that balancing act, feels too random. I think you do need randomness so there isn't just one optimal strategy, but the gameplay should rely more on the premise. What I mean by that is there should be more in the bios for player to grasp an understanding for each individual character and how they are reacting to the situation should be what helps them balance the characters out. This is somewhat present with the short bio, but should definitely be expanded to give the gameplay that extra breath to bring it up to the level of the really cool premise. Would love to see more!

Crate Typist by Luca1152 2018-08-15T22:52:24Z

You made typing stressful, difficult and engaging. Yes Please! It was a solid package, but it does leave me desiring more, which is a good thing. The maze and streak mechanics are good and compliment the typing mechanics, but I would love to see what else you could add in to really elevate it above other typing test games.

Running out of RAM - an 80s BASIC programming simulator for C64 by hamrathdoesldjam 2018-08-15T23:17:36Z

On the surface the gameplay is a pretty simple resource/time management game, but it really sticks out from the rest of the LD entries and I had to check it out seeing that you wrote it for the C64 and added a lot of nice flavor to the context and the gameplay. With the added Plus of the provided source code maybe I'll dabble around. Huge thumbs up!

Wendy the Witch in "Mind Your Damned Business!" by DEGLIS 2019-04-29T07:58:20Z

MS Paint meets the princess of darkness. Gave me a good chuckle and had an interesting central mechanic, felt a little floaty, but overall good stuff.

Money Cabin by Tero Pulkkinen 2019-04-29T06:16:15Z

The game itself needs more ,but I can't help but like this. It has that personal project vibe and its cool to see a framework being used that I haven't seen before.

Satan's Cellar by dkdwrek 2019-04-29T07:25:37Z

This game is hell, so why did I beat it? Feels like Stockholm syndrome, because by the end I actually really enjoyed it. There is a clear and pretty good design underneath the hood. There was the initial hump were I thought I wouldn't be able to bring my self to play for more than the first few minutes, but after likely an embarrassing amount of time I was interrupting hints and memorizing map layouts and devising pathing plans to beat levels. Surprising gem with some adventure mixed with the forest section from musashi vibes, the longest I think I played a ludum dare game for.

Try to live by Remicy 2019-04-29T09:59:52Z

Reminded me a lot of the gameplay loop of the Android game little healer. It feels like some of the values need to be tweaked and despite failing every run to stay alive longer than 30 seconds I liked it :D Also a big fan of Aseprite, excellent choice.

Timezone by joemanaco 2019-04-29T09:49:33Z

After getting through the first level I think if I hear somebody say 3,2,1 I might snap, despite that the game is an interesting concept it feels like one of those ideas, that in the right hands turns into a million possibilities :D

Wizards Bane by saladon 2019-04-29T08:34:30Z

Now I probably can't be objective because any time I see hands floating it instantly makes me think of thing-thing and that already scores bonus points with me hahaha :D Overall very competently put together, but it did leave me wanting more, which is a really good thing, nice work!

Space Rabbit by Baraa Marwan 2019-04-29T06:41:24Z

The first time for me that floaty controls in a game was not a bad thing haha :D

Reaper's Keeper by chelC 2019-04-29T08:28:08Z

I think this is my highest rating yet. Although this isn't really my kind of game, the polish is just absurdly high, the mood is a pure 10 and it felt really good when I got into the flow of fulfilling orders back to back.

Ziggy's Life by PurpledArtFrog 2019-04-29T09:13:43Z

The cigs sprite gave me serious stick-rpg vibes. Combining that with a polished version of your combat system and you've got a pretty awesome game on your hands.

Crossroads by jka 2019-04-29T08:55:25Z

And my initials here right? What a great implementation of the theme. Pretty solid arena shooting, zombie spawns are a bit difficult, but overall really solid. I also enjoyed, pointing my mouse to the left then walking backwards with d and pretending I was moon walking, way too much.

Ludum-Dare-44 by strugglesingamedevelopment 2019-04-29T07:42:30Z

@victorcrafty @baraa-marwan Thanks for the feedback! There's a very subtly (probably too subtly) underlining theme and objective. I've been worried that there's not enough things pointing to it, indicating that there is a goal. That being said I'll be interested to see if anyone sees what we were going for hahaha :D thanks again for your guys feedback.

Offering for FSM by croben 2019-04-29T06:29:03Z

The game has a very completed product feeling and once I realized really its a puzzle game the levels and gameplay made sense and were good.

Bunny Powered Money Machine by rainfrogs 2019-04-29T06:08:41Z

I personally am a very big fan of this kind of art style and it felt good to control. After several lives it started to click what was happening. For a simple looking game it has quite a bit going on.

Make a Million by paul59 2019-04-29T08:47:58Z

I walked away rating this game a lot higher than I first expected. The game is pretty hard to play, physically, but I probably just don't have the eyes for it hahaha, despite that fact there is actually some leeway and what surprised me most of all, lots of strategy. And there is a very intense feeling when you start to hear those sirens go off. It's difficult, but its a nice combination of strategy and execution.

Fools Fortune by Gear Steak 2019-04-29T06:24:17Z

I didn't feel any real connection to my actions, but I did like the choice system and the game is absolutely oozing atmosphere the art style and concept behind the flow of actions I liked a ton.

Fools Fortune by Gear Steak 2019-04-29T06:32:59Z

Sure thing :D So you get these stats at the start and then after you pick between one of the two choices you draw a card with a random stat. The disconnect for me is that there is no feedback to what your stats do or what your draws are being compared against. Sometimes I'd draw a 1 and I'd win the fight sometimes I'd draw a 6 and lose. It feels like stuff is just happening.

God's Life by YothamUukl 2019-04-29T09:01:18Z

I was going to make this my last feedback for the night, but it looks the itch.io page isn't public. Give me an @ when its public and I'll follow up with that feedback :D

Sell Your Stats by n_one 2019-04-29T07:50:59Z

I almost put this one down after the initial play, but I am glad I didn't. The ui didn't really communicate for me what was going on (mainly not being able to tell the currencies were select-able in the sell or buy menu), but after figuring it out and specing points into jump, then promptly hitting space and soaring up, the game idea clicked for me. I really like what your going for :D high marks for matching the theme and your innovative-ness.

Tiny Roguelike by fitret 2019-04-29T08:18:06Z

I've been really impressed with people innovativeness and your game is no exception. I think this game has one of the strongest core gameplay loops of almost any entry I've rated so far.

Escape from Hell by Becher 2019-04-29T08:11:21Z

Every pixel is working overtime here, they all communicate so much, I just freaking love the art and besides the need for fine tuning some values the flow wasn't too bad either.

Cult Master by xSupah 2019-04-29T09:20:52Z

Mimicking other comments a bit, but sacrificing is pretty satisfying, especially the blood particle effect, but dragging them over one at a time does become pretty tedious. However I second, or third that this looks like the beginnings of a really sweet idle game :D

Time Sacrifice by JinchO 2019-04-29T07:35:28Z

Converting IRL Wasted Time hits a little too close to home hahaha, but I like were I think you were heading with it. Cool to see someone else trying to learn the godot engine, so far I personally really like it, but it hasn't been completely smooth for this Jam, but hey that's experience for the next one!

Les Pattes (The Legs) by JediNeeson 2019-04-29T07:30:33Z

I rated it on what I could. I wanted to try and give you some kind of feedback, I imagine it may be a bit difficult, but its really awesome to see that you pushed for a really innovative looking idea. If I get a chance I'll post some full feedback.
