Nice idea, although I am very bad at it. I think I might have found it easier if the character automatically caught the donuts that went past his hands, then I could choose to throw them again if I wanted.

Lovely art too.

Good idea that I literally cannot get good at lmao. Art's lovely, audio's good but could use music.

This was a really cool little puzzle game. Feels like an old arcade game. I like the art too.

I like the idea, but it feels incredibly hard to execute (and it's not explained very clearly at first) The graphics are gorgeous and it's very on-point theme-wise, though the sound is a bit bare. Still, nice game!

Really cool idea. It was fun to play and felt like a puzzle. It was a little like juggling with donuts. But why donuts? Haha.

Very cool graphics, the size option in the menu could have been explained in the game description because I didn't realize it was there at first and the game was very tiny. The sounds are minimal but adds to the atmosphere, I would have liked some catchy music aswell.

The controls were kind of difficult and I didn't quite figure out how the drop mechanic worked with shift + release. Still after playing a few times, the game was a whole lot of fun.

Great job!

@linus It's donuts because the character is actually named Donut Vendor! Well, maybe that's not his actual name but I haven't decided one if he does. He does donuts!

Think I'll make a post-jam version 'cause that's what all the cool kids do. Drop really shoulda been down+release, for one thing... Then I can try to rebalance the gameplay some, it's very difficult as it is. I might also have a mode that's just juggling the donuts, since that was the original idea I had without the puzzle mechanic.

It took me some time to realize what I should be doing in this game, since I first thought matching donuts meant getting two or three of the same color next to each other. Some more visual or audio feedback for matching donuts would have probably made that easier to understand.

I also didn't really like the key mapping. First of, I have a German keyboard, which has the z and y keys swapped, so when I saw the zx combination, I went ahead and changed the keyboard layout, but I don't think that you could do anything with zx that you couldn't do with a and s, is there? If that is so, why did you have two layouts? I also didn't like that you chose the keys directly next to each other, since usually the ring finger presses a to go left and the index finger presses d to go right, so having s for right arm felt a bit counter intuitive.

Apart from my issues with the control scheme, the game looked really nice, and it's a nice take on the theme. The gameplay was a bit tricky and my best score was 549. Not sure if that was good or bad... Overall, it's a nice little game, that could have done with a bit more polish, but still, really good job!

@navot I had A/S in addition to Z/X because a couple of my friends who were playing it ran into keyboard rollover issues with Z/X. I guess it could help with some alternate keyboard layouts, but the real solution for that would be rebindable keys which I didn't have time for.

I can see what you mean with the A/D thing, but since I don't have WASD movement I figured it's just like having B and A buttons next to each other, if that makes sense. I thought it would be kind of weird to have your fingers on A and D if you don't have to use W or S.

navot 2017-12-18 15:30

I guess I'm just so used to WASD controls, that I immediately put my fingers in that position... You could maybe bind s for dropping donuts instead of shift. Also I was originally confused, since it is only mentioned for catching that you can use Z/X or A/S, and not for releasing, so I wasn't 100% sure if they are the same or not

I kind of get what I'm supposed to do but it is waaaay too difficult even at the beginning to learn the game properly. Maybe make a tutorial level or decrease the speed by a lot to allow users to get to grips with it. I like the idea, though.

Pretty challenging difficulty curve. Art works well and is pleasing to the eye balls. I really don't feel that incentivized to climb the difficulty cliff as it feels like the game doesn't progress all that much, but the mechanic's complexity is interesting and would probably transition better slowly.

I love the control but the game goal is a bit obscure. Why does I loose a life when I complete a lane ? Does the lane need to be ALL the same donut type ? ( seems impossible )

This game is great! I like Idea , it is gives a lot of fun, but is much difficult. Graphics and sound is pretty good. Very good Job and Epic Game.
