Hell yeah, this is awesome! This is really impressive to create in 48 hours. I've always loved this art style / raycast 3D perspective, and you pulled it off very well. The little nested game is a really cool touch.

Graphics, audio, mood. This is a super nice submission!

I had a blast playing this game, the art style and the 3D/2D gameplay approach and ofcource the sounds are really so cool.

dan-one23 2020-04-20 08:48

It's a really nice game. And the sounds and graphics are good.

That's pretty great looking. I like the virtual pet idea, though I wish it were a bit more interactive. But hey, this is a cool game for less than 48 hours!

I really enjoyed this one - the graphics (2D billboard in 3D grid world) really grabbed me. The movement was nice and general game loop was nice.

I did have a bit of trouble gauging the combat range which made it a bit harder to enjoy. Some more SFX would have been nice too but overall, really very nice entry. I can definitely see myself returning to this. (And possibly even having a go at something in a similar vein myself in future!)

Slaying worms in dungeons while keeping an eye on your tamagotchi... Impressive game.

fateaglegames 2020-04-20 09:17

Wow, really cool! Love the artstyle :)

igoreshka 2020-04-20 09:28

This is pretty COOL!!!

landerack 2020-04-20 09:32

that looks really nice~ I wasnt exaclty sure how to do the combat well in game. but the style is nice, the tamagochi is adorible and a great idea. I do think the game could have benefited from a free camera instead of the restricted axis. But nice job all around :)

I love the worm death sounds, and the graphics worked really well in the game! Good job.

I like it, really reminds me of those old DOS games. Had a blast playing it. However, hitting the monsters with the sword was a bit too complicated IMO. Still, it was fun trying to get to the end. Also I loved the ghost :P

Cool ass game Only losing progress can be kinda frustrating

magnusfurcifer 2020-04-20 11:20

Really nice entry. I definitely appreciated that it was possible to get in and attack and fall back without getting hit as opposed to just trading hits, it shows that some work was put into making the combat work well and it's effective.

Looks great too. Would be a nifty full rogue-like with some polish and content.

It's interesting for me to see what a 3D old-school dungeon crawl made in Godot can look like (I plan to study your source code). I definitely can tell a lot of work went into it. I like the virtual pet idea, and it's a nice way to add additional time pressure. Good game overall, and could be great with a bit more tweaking/polishing.

My suggestions for improvement: the enemies attack from slightly too far away and their death animation is too slow. I could pick up extra hearts that counted but weren't displayed. Floor 3 had no pet pickups that I could find, so I had to rush through, while Floor 4 had more than enough. Music would be a nice addition as well. You might want to export to HTML5 for non-Windows/Linux people (if you want more people to play).

Awesome! Very well made :)

Only thing to nitpick, the range of the enemies is a bit wide. And also, the ghost utterly destroys me.

tetrago 2020-04-20 15:32

Pretty awesome! I'm a sucker for that 2.5D style of games though. Only thing I can think of that isn't perfect is that telling your range and the range of the enemies is a little hard to get used to. Otherwise, amazing.

ssstormy 2020-04-20 16:26

Art and audio are alright!

I had some issues with the gameplay however. It was incredibly stiff to see that the enemies died a second or two after you actually killed them. I'm also unsure if it's even possible to dodge them. I ended up holding down sprint and navigating the mazes instead of going through combat.
