Comment for myself: don't forget to play this game tomorrow! This comment will be updated
Promised update:
I thought that we should avoid the steroids, but after few attempt understand, that we need to burn them. Pretty simple mechanics, but audio-visual mood is great! I love that kind of pixel art and I love the astronaut theme and you got both!
Really cool aesthetics on the game, makes it quite cohesive. Initially thought I was supposed to fly around with the ship but caught on quickly on the next game.
Thanks :) I thought about writing a bit more in the tutorial, but wasnt sure if i wanted to spoil the main mechanic. So i left it out :-)
NES mood)))
It's simple but it's work and the graphics are amazing, great job!
Nice and quick~ my record is 29 (Might be better if I had slept in the last 3 days tho...)
Nice little game! Music and graphics go well together, and the gameplay is simple but it works. The time available to react when a meteorite pops is very short, so it's not that easy to get a good score (it's not a problem!). Sometimes points feel not completely earned, when the player fails to react but the next meteorite is by chance on the side where the reactors are activated.
Real sweet pixel art, love the style and the extra player feedback feels great! Echoing the previous comments took a second to figure what to do but easy to pick up quickly Love the core loop, simple but really addictive, would be interesting to see what additional modifies you could throw in to spice it up further you got in or on replay!
i really like the art. maybe you could have a little more space to see the incoming meteors a little earlier.
@linus-szokody yeah, i was so much back and forward regarding how much space you should have around your ship. Could probably been easier with a bit more space :-)
Interesting game. Not much to it but it has that same pull that certain older games do. It's kind of addicting going for a high score. Graphics are great, audio is satisfying and the game is responsive. I feel like there could have been some things added to the gameplay to make the player have to do more than just react to a direction, but overall this is a solid game.
@real-flamingicecubegames yeah, my original idea was actually having it closer to a rythem game, and match it with music going faster and faster. And time music with the meteor movement. But didnt have time :-) So the gameplay was a bit simplified.
I liked this interpretation of the theme. I feel as though it would be nice to have more spaces on the side as it was kind of hard to see the asteroids coming, and maybe an effect that plays when they are destroyed. Still, I really liked the art and the music was nice too!
Agree, and effect would be nice. Didnt have time :-) Added the screenshake the last minute
I love the graphics!
Hey! Played it a few times and got a couple scores in the 20s (no clue if that's any good)
Things I liked:
- The art is a nice style and everything is very clear - The game fit the theme well as you know eventually your loss is inevitable - The music was also nice and catchy - The controls were very snappy and I felt like any damage I took was my fault
Things that could be improved:
- I think it's a little zoomed in. I think it'd be more fun if the camera was zoomed out more and you could complete more rounds - The gameplay is kind of shallow. It's essentially just a reaction speed test you could go do online. Some secondary gameplay like choosing powerups (single hit shield that you place on one side, health upgrade, etc) would help to give the game some depth without adding too much dev time - It was not clear at first what the controls did. I thought I was trying to move my ship out of the way and died 3 times before I realized the thrusters actually destroy the rocks. This will be a common problem since people generally assume that thrusters move a ship and to do so, you would activate the thruster on the opposite side of the way you want to move. This makes it unlikely that a new player will accidentally destroy an asteroid and figure out the real goal of the game. I would just clearly state this on this page and the itch page
Overall, nice and polished little game!
Quite mechanically simple but the art style is lovely and it's really well polished overall.
Might be nice if the stars scrolled in the background depending on which boosters you've got active just as an extra bit of feedback? Otherwise it's a really solid entry though!
Nice and simple
It took me a second to figure out what I was supposed to do. I initially though I was meant to move around the meteors. I got it on my third try and had a fun time with it. Love the simple 3 color graphics and animations. Love a short sweet entry.
Great fun, solid entry! Love the music and the art style! Well done :D
