I loved the style and idea of this game but I felt like 2 things let it down. Firstly I feel like rhythm games need some kind of underlying beat to keep you in time, not just pressing the buttons based on visual cues. The other is that I couldn't look at all the lovely graphics because I was focusing so much on the visual cues. I wonder if integrating them more into the graphics as a whole would help? I feel like the first issue also compounds this. I don't mean for this to sound harsh I really liked it and that's why I care :D
I really like this rithm games! Nice entry!
Nice idea, had some strange graphics glitches on firefox. It was a little confusing how the mechanics worked at first. Overall, interesting take on the rhythm game genre.
I feel like this game has a lot of potential! Some advices to get the most of it: * Integrating the beats with the game visuals would be more engaging. You can do this by using a vertical music track (Guitar Hero style) instead of an horizontal one, overlaying the actual game. Also, it's more natural to understand, as ASDF would be laid out horizontally. * Having some background music to get a sense of the rythm. * Switching the instrument when pressing Space, not when it's pressed, to avoid the instrument change flicker.
Nonetheless, it's a great idea, great game and amazing visuals!
wonderfully weird concept! nice aesthetics

Nice idea but not very good implementation. I have been confused by the mechanics. When I hit spacebar, there is no delay between changes, so the instruments change very quickly!

This game so wierd, but I really like it! Great job )
I think this is a really interesting idea, I'm glad to see other people using the theme to make a rhythm game, but I feel like a few things hold it back. Namely - there's so much to keep tabs on. There's the notes, the incoming goblins, the knights, the queen, etc. If the notes matched up to some kind of background music better, then it'd be easier to take your focus off the track and onto the knights. Also, missing a note in most rhythm games gets you a quick alert you missed, but here it's this long jabrled note that's really unpleasant to listen to, and distracting enough where missing one makes you miss a few more - at least, that's my experience with it. That said, I'm impressed you made something so in depth in such a short timeframe, and I think this has a lot of potential moving forward. Best of luck!
Cool game. Love the art, especially prolog. I think you could make the game even a little bit harder, at least for a jam game that is being played mostly around 5 - 10 minutes. Also the instrument switching doesn't work, I guess.
Overall good job.
Switching musical instruments was quite confusing and kind of overwhelming.
But enjoyed it immensely otherwise. 5/5 for graphics and sound.
I really like this type of games, very fun to play, congratulations. for me the only thing is that, I don't think it's clear enough when to change the weapons, and what happen when I change, the feedback that I have is a weird sound, that for me looks like that I'm doing something wrong, maybe if you add more visual feedback or some more variation, would make it more clear.

I got really exited at first, the art and feeling of the game are amazing! But then the game didn't quite work. I like the challenge of changing styles and instruments but there should be some sound signal to when I should change, having me to keep an eye on the notes that were coming and at the enemies at the same time kind that break the mood. Also, ear pull for the flickering when changing instruments, this felt like lack of play testing, the instrument should not keep switching back and forth the longer I hold space bar, it should change only once. And finally not quite relevant for the game but still, please learn some music notation, it bothered me A LOT to have those notes come out of me in a rhythm that makes no sense, and even worse there was a white note with a flag! That made me cry a bit inside. The game have a lot of potential, I would love to see more of it if you guys intend on polishing it further.

It was well polished, it looked and sounded great!
My main criticism is that it was really hard to see how my playing was influencing the effectiveness of my soldiers. I didn't notice that my queen was about to die until she was already dead... Some more audio feedback from the soliders and whatnot would really be good, you'd be able to tell whats going on in the whole game a lot better then.
Overall though, great effort and a very well executed game!

Some really cool stuff here! The graphics are a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the bagpipe music. I died a couple of times without knowing why; I thought that I was being pretty accurate with the notes? One challenge for me was that the computer keyboard keys moved in the opposite direction of keys on a piano (I would expect to press A for the lowest note and S for the next note up); as a piano player this threw me off a bit!
Oh man this was very good! It felt so chaotic haha. I really liked how all the instruments sounded and how you blended a rhythm game with a strategy game. The art was great too, well done :)
Very nice idea and I really liked the graphics. I had no idea that you could move the guy, and was not really looking at that part of the screen anyway. The speed of the song could start a lot quicker and as one of the other commenters mentioned, having an underlying beat would be a good idea.
The general idea is really nice. I got really confused by some mechanics, because I stayed focus on the score and didn't understood I could move my character. It's quite difficult to understand why sometimes ennemies tend to kill the soldier even if it seems that I have the right instrument and I play the right note.
It's a nice idea, and I'm pretty sure you could make an interesting game out of it. And everybody loves somme good bagpipe. Nice job!

It was a really enjoyable game, there is just a bit too much going on for the player to focus on, but the graphics were great and the idea behind it was pretty creative.
hey, I like the premiiise, awesome concept, although I was anxious playing it - I think having an underlying beat would have helped immensely. I would not have to look at the notes that much and instead sort of press them to the music. Awesome aesthetics though, I really like the boar riding (child stealing?) goblins!
