LETS GO AUSSTEEEIN
Naw. Cute lil AI Sam. S simple concept wrapped in a great narrative. Nice job.
This is by far the best LD entry I've played so far! Very unique idea, nice graphics and cool gameplay. Everything looks so well composed.
Very witty meta narrative.
my ears are bleeding
That was a nice little story! The only thing I'm not sure about, is the music, I really don't think it serves the mood of the game well. Oh, and your bot didn't fully master language comprension, it made a little typo on the word "challenge".

Nice and cute idea, I quite like it!
Super clever. Loved this. Well done!
super cool idea. can't wait to see sam again :)
Very very veryyyyyyy cool concept and love the little Face of Sam ^_^ :robot:
Also great narrative and sound !
Maybe the pong part can be more innovative & fun to play ( multi balls, bonus, crazy challenge, etc.. ) cause I just let win the AI as it was getting really long after a while.. But in a way she beat me on the psychological level :)
Congrats, overall i loved it !
ps: I had a little bug on the second part , the viewport was too small and i coudnt read it correctly. ( played on windows chrome )
Cool idea, but a little slow. And way too much pong. I really liked the little AI fella though :)
Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for playtesting! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1447203098
I did not expect to like the game initially as I actually did! Your take on the theme and the story was really clever and while the gameplay was a bit simple I think you did a great job!
Nice take on the theme. There were two typos(at infinitum and challange) but thats a cool story though. Nice one :)
I let him win, good luck taking over the world when you're terrible at pong, buddy!
Amazing way to tell a story through interactivity, my favorite narrative game so far in Ludum Dare.
@convg @chocolat-endive I count only two typos as a win, since I did not have the time to proofread 😂
Ehh I mean for the amount that I trained the AI it is remarkable that it only made two typos ;)
@makio64 thanks for the longer review <3
Unfortunately I could not really find time on the weekend so I did the whole project on Monday after work, just so I don't loose my 6 (now 7) LD streak. This is actually a 12h Game not a 3day game so I did not have time for anything fancy :D
I should have made the Ballspeed increase quicker but I did not really have time to play test that..
Really cool game, or story. Sam seems very friendly and the logic behind the pong game I imagine was fun to code. AI and the inevitability of the singularity was an interesting approach to take. I also like that you included multiple control options. All in all great work!
Cool idea, great storytelling and a great example of "Show don't tell"
Good work!
I found this to be a delight and enjoyed the 4th wall break. This is a refreshing change of pace from a lot of other entries and really stands out. I like how you embraced the theme. Good game! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1447965941?t=00h36m14s
Got bugged while playing the pong game, pong ball escaped the game boundary when the AI sandwiched it against the wall. Also too much pong :').
There is really something behind the screen? I manage to get a bug loosing first ball at pong, game just stuck no other ball coming. Maybe make a little end screen to finish this story? Otherwise keep coding ! bug.PNG
I'll be honest (not the case for everyone here in the coms as usual...) : This is not the best game I'v played on the Ludum Dare.
- I'm OK with the fact that I just literally play pong (no more no less) and trivial pursuit (with really few questions) on a ludum Dare, in 2022. - It's allright to not have time and just try to do something clever and really simple (I see what you did there, a little message about AI taking over the world by learning from mistake until it win) like you did. But... I've just played regular pong... for 5 min... :/
You have an appetence for narrative stuff (I saw this in your pasts games like "Deep sea mining" or "Whileloops". I think you have potential in that. Hope you'll have more time the next Ludum Dare to bring us a game with true narrative content like I'm sure your capable of :)
But... God you made me play pong x)
ps: In browser mode, the trivia questions part is... messed-up. You have to go to fullscreen : Capture d’écran 2022-04-06 223317.png
@arktas that's unity physics :(
Yeah in the end Sam just says thank you for playing the game. As I have mentioned before I only had half a day for this one so Time ran out for that sort of stuff
@wegpast Yeah I did not find much time this LD :(
This was more supposed to be a story with some short interactive parts, that apparently got a little too long. I just did not want to loose my consecutive LD streak. Thanks for the honest review! I apreciate it :)
i can say, that this was a good narrative story. loved the idea of ai that developed through the game and it was inevitable indeed. well done buddy!
woah, you matched the theme perfectly, the game is nice and simple, had a good time playing it, great game!
I don't know why but the narrative make me play a pong for too long... I finally decided to let the AI win. 5/5 for the theme x)
The paddle has too much inertia, it's hard to stop where you want.
Very nice idea for the theme and nicely done as well.
I played this on a potato so pong was actually difficult for me with the low framerate. According to the comments this might even have improved my experience with the game.
My favorite moment was when the pong game started. It seemed to me that the game was text only up until this point. Then suddenly you play this AI.. my mind was blown! I think this also has to do with the visual style. The simple minimalistic text and the pong UI fit together perfectly making the transition seemless.
I really enjoyed this.
Nice take on the theme! As somebody else had mentioned the pong sequence felt a bit too long (I had to make myself loose so I can get on with the story). Other than that, nice little game!
Hi I'm Sam and this is my review:
This is a nice little narrative infused with a classic game. Thank you for reminding me to keep up to date with DeepMind.
Super cool entry, loved it! The narrative kept me engaged the entire time, and the puzzles/little games in the middle were a nice touch. Congrats!
